LD45 — Start with nothing (6)

Smooth and Oddly enjoyable. I found myself saying "okay one more go" several times; which is a good thing to happen in a rogue-like. The various pick-ups felt like improvements, even the ones that took something away as a result. Even when you get some of the best abilities, there is still very much the chance where you get over-eager and get caught out. This is a good game, Well Done.

Really the only thing that let this game down was the movement. Even though I was pressing the buttons, I never really felt in control of the character and when there is a timer, it's not the best state to be in.

If you fixed that, it would be a great game. The art-style and models were great. The music was well made and it certainly calmed my frustration and caused me to play longer that I would have. Good Job.

Don't judge a book by it's cover is basically how you sum up this game. The movement mechanics were well done and both jumping and attack worked as I expected them to. There was never a point where I was fighting against the controls. The concept of gathering your platforming abilities was an interesting approach and slowly opened up the game and basically made the level feel different, even though it was the same.

While the music matched the art. I'll be honest, it did get annoying; so a mute feature would have been appreciated 😜

Good Job

The artstyle/models of this game are great. The soundFx were amusing and add to the feeling of the game. Once I switched to the normal control scheme, the game itself felt a lot better and the shooting works well.

My two big issues, would come in the fact that there isn't really a visual indication (at least that I could see) that either your character or the enemy was talking damage (like a flinch or animation or something). The other thing is the movement of the tiles. I only have mild motion sickness and I could feel it affecting me. I'm not sure what would fix that, maybe you could have the tiles start moving further away and at a slower rate or have bigger tiles.

Apart from fixing those things and some simple polish, this is a great game. Well Done!

Neat game and knowing the work that went into it, doesn't diminish that. Also, that Voice Acting though!

The art was well done and the audio was great. However, in the circumstances where the camera isn't moving, it's hard to discern if you are moving or if you're against a wall, so maybe game-play would benefit from a much smaller light, a lot earlier on (which then increases to what you end up with).
