LD38 — A Small World

A.M.O.R.V. by zondarg 2017-05-01T23:09:04Z

It's a solid tanklike game! I enjoyed the music too. A lot of fun came out of avoiding the Coriolis effect. The dynamic camera was cool but I wasn't able to finish due to slight nausea. Could be fixed by keeping the camera pointed parallel to the planets surface. Overall, great job!

Had me wondering how this was done the whole time. Really pleasant and simple mechanically but complex underneath. The glass refraction is a really neat effect. Thanks for this!

Wow this game is hella good, The hand painted assets, and intros are full of character, and there are animations for deaths and even aiming you gun. Small touches like the main character having a drop shadow, and design choices like having the bugs come at you from behind in twos so you have to dodge them really make the game. I love the absurd fire rate too, my only complaint is that the boss takes almost no hits before it leaves, and that I can't see who made it in the credits :(. Anyway, best game I've played so far, please throw some twitter links or something in so I can follow you!

Incredible scope for a single person team! The pixel art has the same charm as Advanced Wars and the game is smooth and well designed. I enjoyed tricking the AI into attacking the wrong things. I'd like it if the enemy team was more even, especially so I could use the ranged tank combat more tactically. <3

This is... My favorite LD game. I love it. The art style is minimal but evocative, the writing is funny and plays with a lot of game tropes. The controls are easy to learn but hard to master. My only complaint is that it's rigged when Plut- I mean Saturn shoots 3 shots at you in a row. That last boss was cavestory levels of difficult but fair. Basically, This is a game I wish I'd made. Much love.

Great game with a modest premise that really delivers what it promises. Being knocked off the board really makes you hit that play again button (thank you for putting in checkpoints and not making me start from scratch) I could honestly see myself throwing an evening into this with a friend. My only complaint is that it doesn't have local multiplayer :'(

The tough tiny World by BSO 2017-04-25T16:46:56Z

It's pretty broken, but I get what you were going for. The rocket and coin models are cute. If you're looking for a good way to do gravity, in your rocket's FixedUpdate function try using:

GetComponent().ApplyForce((planet.transform.position - transform.position).normalized * 100);

If you learned a lot from making it, it's a good game in my opinion ;)

Great game, brings out my inner masochist (in a hard-but-fair way). The power ups look really cool, how did you make them? Like geometry dash it makes you play along to the music. I'd say it's even fairer than geometry dash. It's also the right amount of hard for only 2 levels.

The only bug is that if you jump at the right time the spikes desynch from the music and you can just walk over them. One way you could fix this is when the player reaches a certain angle around the planet (say 45 degrees) You could disable the controls and use Vector3.Lerp(playerPosition, destination, Time.deltaTime) to move the player over a fixed time period.

Anyway yeah, made me swear, good aesthetic. Great game guys.

Everything about this game is well beyond a typical LD game, it's clear that you all work well as a team :). The skyboxes, character models, and animations floored me. the game is very tongue-in-cheek about its subject matter, like the alien talking about taco night while his planet is dying. I think it enhances the tone of the game. In terms of what @endlessplumber was saying, the main character could certainly benefit from a drop shadow to help estimate where they will land. Overall, it's a technically impressive and solid game.
