Great concept and an impressive amount of polish!
I really like the reversal idea. It's a nice twist to this type of game. And I always love to see pico-8 games in jams too! But yeah as you mentioned, the controls were very frustrating to figure out. I never figured out how to make the reversal controls work for the multi blocks part :(
This game is really fun to play. Has an addictive quality to it. The button press detection using my xbox controller was a little weird though. Sometimes it detected a double press when I pressed once and sometimes it just didn't detect my press at all. Could just be that my controller sucks XD
This song is a banger! The NES presentation is awesome and the game play is tough but fun. This game rocks, well done! I've easily played this entry the most.
Game is too tough for me to play on keyboard though. I'm going to need some controller support please :)

@joseph-yannessa The map was going to be much bigger originally. And I wanted to make the sand castles mandatory to defeat before the queen spawned. But there was just no way we were going to be able to balance everything in time. Even with the smaller map, the game is pretty unbalanced as it is XD
@kekkodude We did bring up the idea of you controlling Antexander directly. I was afraid we were going to struggle to get the movement of it to look as fluid as the other ants so we decided direct our attention to other things. I wish we had pulled it off though. Thanks for playing!
@despdair Yeah the game is very poorly balanced, sorry! We ran out of time to fiddle with the parameters to the fight mechanic and to put more thought into the layout of the map. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
@shaolin-dave So ants with no mounds will convert after they take a few casualties. They also convert outright if you match or exceed them in numbers. Ants with mounds to defend fight to the death and will reward you with more ants once conquered. So you can fight rogue ants that are a bit bigger and be fine. Thanks for playing!
Neat game and very polished! Graphics remind me a long of Downwell. By the time I realized what the lava was doing it was too late ha ha.
For those wondering, F11 makes the game windowed though it's super small.

Nice art and fun game! The only thing that bugged me was the randomized nature of the angle of your attacks. It made aiming at enemies very frustrating. It also made shooting while hugging the bottom wall very ineffective since a lot of the shots would collide with the wall.
Nice concept. Though the floor was very jarring in the beginning since there is no visual to show you moving.
Really cool concept! It unfortunately got really repetitive with and grindy. Perhaps some multiplier to help with racking up them sweet coins later in the game would have helped.
