One of the best games in the compo :-)
The graphics are very good generally the game look ace :-). However the controls feel a bit "sticky" and "heavy" - which is a problem when combined with crushing doors. Placing a door next to a ladder (or another door) is almost instakill :-P.
If you continue this, i would like to see more "lightweight" movement. The guy seems to jump a lot for the speed he moves at :-P.
Very good, i liked the comments that the yellow guys make :-). Aiming is a bit hard because i always expected the thing to be thrown *from* the arrow. I suppose putting the arrow behind the player would have been a better idea. Beyond that, the graphics are cute and the idea fits the theme nicely :-)
Don't try to pick up stuff before you deliver...
Actually the instructions *here* were a side effect of me thinking that i have to finish the submission before the deadline and being totally oblivious to the "submission hour". I used them elsewhere though :-P.
Normally i wanted to make a proper manual (in HTML), but since i thought i had to upload+package+whatever everything before the deadline, i ran out of time :-P.
You can replenish the right bar - as the "instructions" mention, just be near her. It won't be easy since she'll avoid you and if you keep running after her, she'll start crying (which will reverse the effect). So you need to balance it a bit. The rate of increasing/decreasing the right bar is something i experimented a lot with, but unfortunately i couldn't find a perfect solution. Beyond that, its ok.
The right click to jump is something i didn't thought much about - it was part of my base code. Jumping with right clicking is how i set up most of my FP(S/?) games since more than a decade now. It is a bit common, but not as common as space. I would normally add space too, but i just forgot it :-P.
There was supposed to be sound, but being an OpenAL game, probably the sound didn't work correctly. On the other hand, the effects *do* sound like weird noises (see the wav files in the data folder) so it might work ok :-P. I don't have a Windows machine right now available to test it unfortunately :-/.
Yeah the audio is lacking. It was made near the end of the compo and was made by me going to #ludumdare in IRC, asking what people use, being told mic and audacity and going off to make sounds like that for the first time :-P.
@SonnyBone:
Did you try the Java JRE from java.com? If you have multiple JREs installed, you may need to modify the launching script (f.e. She Loves You for Windows.bat) to use the full path to the java/javaw.exe file. That solved the problem with people having many JREs for Windows.
@caranha:
Thanks :-). Yes, i ran a bit out of time with the ending, although one can interpret the repeat as you (the character) being hopelessly stuck :-P
JRE7 probably won't work. You need Java6 update 30 (or around there) from java.com
Nice little game. I wasn't sure what to expect. At the beginning it was a bit laid down and slow, walking around, collecting stuff and avoiding the occasional worm. Then i decided to start following the X and quickly i came upon a whole herd of snakes lusting after my blood! Planting planks frantically i ran away like mad and, just by a few pixels of luck, managed to get away. However i was too tired from the run that a couple of minutes later i didn't notice a small worm that came and sucked out the last drops of blood from my rectangular body.
Good work :-)
Using the "spotlight" to reveal parts of the world/maze - which becomes darker and darker as you progress, is a nice idea! Initially i wasn't sure if i was doing the right thing, but as i progressed through the levels it became apparent what the purpose of the game is. Although i didn't saw the ending coming :-P.
As a side note, i *loved* the piano music and the slight "puffs, huffs" and ambient sounds that there were in the recording. It felts as if there was some sort of companion i was with while playing the game. Top marks on that :-)
The graphics are good looking and minimalistic, but i found myself mostly lost :-P. I never managed to find the proper shapes at the time. The idea itself is good (it reminds me of the games where you play small fishes/microbes/whatever and eat other fishes/microbes/whatever to grow while watching to not be eaten - minus the latter part), but there are too many shapes on screen and the limited visibility doesn't help that. Maybe if you could see everything at once things would be better? In any case, it is an interesting effort :-)
Not bad, but initially i wasn't sure about what to do. Nice bleepy fx though :-P
Nice jumping platformer. The title image is very good, although the rest is a bit... repetitive :-P. The biggest problem is with the jumping curve itself which is more of a triangle than a curve, making some difficult jumps harder. On the other hand, i like the idea of "your shit" giving you powers :-P
Nice WASD top-down shooter :-). I liked the weird intro :-P. It is a bit on the hard side though. Although i noticed the dash (yeah, i know...) a bit too late :-P.
It is a very good idea, although as the others have mentioned, the controls are a bit weird. I managed to go to Level 11 but, trying to figure out where to go next, i decided to teleport below the level - and the result was my cat being in a perpetual exploding state.
Generally though, it is a nice puzzle/platformer and the teleporting mechanic is good - although a couple of puzzles depend a bit on the weirdness of the collision and controls :-).
Nice game, even if a bit hard. I missed the power ups sometimes (like the while) because of the color though. But i liked the use of language structures as game world features :-P. But maybe some things were a little forced (break) :-P.
That smiling thing will be in my nightmares :-P. No, imagine: a *HUGE* bus-sized smiling monster, constantly flapping his gigantic arms, to squeeze you in a fatal hug with misleading cuteness and a force strong enough to throw away whole ... stuffs!
Very good and mood-y game :-). The collision is a bit flaky, but overall it feels good. It was a bit boring after a while, but i wanted to find more story parts :-P.
The 3D was very slow on my iMac though. I had to resize the window to something like 400x300 to make it playable :-/
Biggest score: 3100. I suppose the goal in this game is to kick off as many bunnies as possible before they become zombies, right? :-P
The graphics and animations are very good. Also, despite its simplicity, i liked the music loop - which matched a bit with the animations :-).
Very good, this shows a lot of promise :-).
