LD51 — Every 10 seconds

Laika's Revenge by bloodyaugust 2022-10-07T12:13:14Z

What a great art style! Very The Jetsons-esque i love it. Solid loop as well i absolutely wanted to keep playing to get more purchases and do better each time. Theres room for impovement on the feedback side i think some form of effect/sprite on the enemies dying/being hit with projectiles would have gone a long way in really making it feel that much more satisfying. The general speed of the game felt very slow to where it was a bit frustrating slogging around.

Terrific work I think the inclusion of the purhcases loop was ingenious for the game jam in extending the playtime in a fun and engaging way.

Flameout by triggthediscovery 2022-10-07T11:49:39Z

Pretty neat! i liked the camera shake on putting out the flames. I think an additonal effect when the water hits the flames would help feel like the water was more effective, most of the time i wasn't sure i was hitting it/doing anything.

I thought the fire visuals were unique! Im not sure i've seen it done that way before and it really worked for me.

Additional fire orbs spawning at once would have really heightened the tension but overall not too bad!

I really like the concept of using and combing cards to fight opponents. I couldnt begin to remotely explain to someone how it works however. I found a real disconnect between what i was doing wiht the cards and what was happening in the fight. It was unclear what the cards actually did and how the opponent was doing their moves.

I played through and beat every opponent by playing all of the cards starting with doing 3 of the same color each time. I was practically invincible and i crushed the enemies but again i have no idea how or why i did so well.

The visuals are very impressive and thematic and having each card pose be played by the character was a real treat to see! I started playing cards just to see the character do it. I was surprised there were multiple different opponents as well as unlocking more cards as i progressed. If i had any sense of how the cards work this would have been a big draw for me to continue.

Overall very impressive what you were able to get done and it seems you had an innovative idea for the gameplay but struggled to communicate it (which is always difficult in a Jam even when its super simple!)

Haywire by Ninnec 2022-10-07T12:20:53Z

Cool idea! I think theres a version thats much faster paced where the droid is destroyed in ten seconds and theres way more enemies around so youre constantly switching and adjusting to new weapons. As it stands losing a bit of health every 10 seconds is more of an annoyance than anything else.

The robots themselves are very interesting looking and i love that you spawn as a random one each run that really adds a lot.

I think theres a really interesting foundation here and its and congrats on having a pretty complete game experience nice work!

10s Bar Brawl by Cedric86 2022-10-06T02:58:28Z

Interesting idea! The combat doesnt feel too impactful and id say theres not enough feedback on taking damage. I will say the chairs were a phenomenal feedback point. They way they flew around when getting hit felt so fun and i would have loved to see more of that!

The visuals were an interesting choice. I liked the style and the sprites themselves were interesting but the mix of 2d sprites in the 3d space didn't quite work for me.

The gun changing every 10 seconds is a neat idea and really fun to be forced to change your playstyle on the fly! I found I needed a visual representation of the timer as I found it more random and annoying without have the anticipation of the change.

Definitely a cool idea here and with a round of improvements on the feedback of combat could be really engaging! Great work on pulling everything together theres a lot of systems that would have had to go in to get it working so congrats on getting something so complete together in the limited time! :)

Really enjoyed the vibe! The controls changing along the keyboard with the music is really interesting mechanic and it felt almost like moving your hands on a piano.

I found i could have really used an onscreen visual of what the controls are or what the upcoming controls would be (kind of like sheet music i suppose!) as would spend almost the full 10 seconds trying to figure out the controls and once i had them it would change.

The concept of quickly moving your fingers to the new controls in time with the music and to keep platforming i think is really engaging but is a little hampered by the time required to figure out waht the new controls are.

All in all the whole thing really feels put together and like a complete experience. Great work for the jam! :)

minigames! by thyoi 2022-10-06T03:26:08Z

Absolutely brilliant this is really incredible not only for the time frame but for one persone as well!

It may be a short experience but its really solid such a joy to play through i feel it perfectly captured the level of quality you can get in a game jam and to me this screams quality. It had such a distinct style, personality, the art and sound effects really drew me in to the game and i was fully engaged. The feedback was great with the explosions, score numbers (even if they didnt mean anything), and sounds.

I love the re-use of the assets across multiple minigames that really felt like it tied each one together.

The idea of changing minigames and having to quickly work out the controls, and rules was so fun and i felt very innovative. I couldnt wait to see each one! I also loved the twists on the established games (the tic-tac-toe stands out to me in particular i lost it when the ai went outside the grid! Amazing!) I got the distinct impression of some Undertale influence which worked in this very well!

A couple of the minigames could leaned further in playing with expectations (the cross street and whack-a-mole ones seemed pretty straight forward) but understandably i imagine you'd need to balance how much time you can spend coming up wit the twists

The idea of making a series of minigames is incredibly ambitious for a game jam. You had to make like half a dozen games and i think the amount you made and the quality of each is admirable!

The only thing missing for me is a fail condition and/or scoring system to really drive me to replay. Taken as a chill, interactive experience though this is a 10/10. The theme is well utilised, the experience is small but really engaging, and it has a distinct personality.

Honestly im usually a bit more critical but this is but you've really done a terrific job i'm really happy i got to experience it. :)

EVERY TIME YOU BLINK by robobarbie 2022-10-06T07:53:31Z

Ive never been so stressed playing a narrative puzzle game! 10 seconds has never felt shorter. I was so engrossed! i dont know how long i played for but i was hooked from begginning to end and was dissapointed when it ended.

What a neat little idea well done! Wouldn't have minded seeing how many i had gotten right/wrong and like a streak

Wake The Beast by ChrisDeDev 2022-10-07T02:51:01Z

Its a fun concept almost like a mario party minigame. The moster coming in is a fun addition to shake it up. For me its lacking in feedback effects on collecting the item, running, etc. and i would have loved some form of interaction with the AI. But great work getting it all together!

I've created an itch page to host the game for those having trouble with the ludum dare embed. See here: https://dylan-shorten.itch.io/labyrinthos

The HTML link should now be working!

Unfortunately it looks like some of our lighting elements dont work in the HTML version. It is still very much playable!

There is also a download link that i would recommend checking out if you can :)
