Let me know when you fix it. This game looks like a lot of fun!
Cool game, judging by the screenshots. Unfortunately, I couldn't play the game
I've created an itch page to host the game for those having trouble with the ludum dare embed. See here: https://dylan-shorten.itch.io/labyrinthos
The HTML link should now be working!
Unfortunately it looks like some of our lighting elements dont work in the HTML version. It is still very much playable!
There is also a download link that i would recommend checking out if you can :)
@confusedsoph @holy-doggo01 should be working now if you were interested!
Great game, you really made the theme work very well with the wall/maze reshaping, it really adds to the game play. Also I love the greek inspiration from the future ;p Just try to add more lights (fire torches maybe there and there) so we can see a bit clearer. Keep going !
edit: It works well for me in the page !
very good gameplay
This feels very polished. Very nice project!
Nice work allthough I did not manage to find the boss from the Screen shot
I got to level 6 ! There is an infinite number of level ? (with difficult increase I suppose) First time I thought the blue particles was to indicate the exit, but my brain was too much working at this time and was like "so, if the air enter from the outside, I have to go to the oposite of the particles" I like how it is polished: with particles, animated number for damages, lighting, camera shakes... The only point borrowed me is that I can break each boss if I'm at the limit range of the pistol: Bosses dont move anymore and take damages
The game has great gun feel with the sound effects, screen-shake and the damage pop-ups. Some music is all it needs on the sound department.
Visuals are clean and enemies are easy to distinguish both from each other and from the background, The weapons on the ground are quite difficult to spot tho, as they appear near identical to other non-pickup objects on the ground.
The walls opening and closing around you is an interesting mechanic. Apart from the times it traps you in a confined space, the dynamic map keeps the engagements fresh. Transparent outlines appearing before a wall spawns is a nice quality-of-life addition.
Enemies are a bit bullet-spongy, the starting pistol is not a reliable tool even to defend myself until I find a better weapon. And after a point it becomes impossible to clear out the enemies before new ones spawn in; resulting in a huge, practically undefeatable horde chasing you around. It's forgivable tho as balancing in a jam game is rather difficult.
Didn't really get to experience the boss fight, it sure does look cool tho
Good work overall
This is really a 10/10 game. The game's graphics are very good and also very well optimized, I was able to play on my weak PC without any problems, the game's audio matches the environment very much, the controls are very precise, if I pick up a weapon on the ground and I see another and I want to change the old weapon is in place of the new weapon I want (but as long as I still have ammo). I got past the level 1 boss very quickly as it was buggy and I think the game theme was very well presented in this game.
i really liked the game, i dont know why but i got swamped by enemies at first but i enjoyed the game^^
Really nice smooth gameplay, good use of theme and good visuals. Nice one :)
Smooth controls, fun to play, nice visuals and sounds, missed some music for ambience.
Nice entry!
Difficult but enjoyable! Love the premise and the slick graphics.
The shifting of the labyrinth is really cool. Overall a very solid entry, well done!
Lots of good things here, visually and mechanically. It's not exactly the most thrilling concept for the theme, but given what everyone had to work with I can't really fault you for it. It's a simple top-down shooter with some solid weapon variety which is basically always going to be fun regardless of anything else. It looked fantastic as well, if a little dark, and ran perfectly fine through the HTML embed. My main critique would be the maze generation itself, as it's easy to not see any enemies for a while and then suddenly get an overwhelming swarm which I usually couldn't avoid. But that's just a balancing thing and in the jam time limit I really don't fault you for it. I'll be coming back for a few more rounds to try to get to the boss, really nice work!
I enjoyed this one quite a bit. To me, it's amazing how some people manage to get their games not only up and running, but also looking this nice in a weekend's time. A thing that bothered me, though, is the camera alignment that feels a lot too firm in the transitions. Given it is a twin stick shooter, I actually don't see much of a point in having the camera lead the character in the movement direction at all. If you do want to give the player the advantage of being able to look farther in the direction they're aiming in, maybe map the camera's offset from the player to the mouse's distance from the player. That way it might feel a lot smoother, like you're streching a rubber band.
Other than that, nothing to rant about. Good job :)
The graphics are great. I also really like how you fit the theme. The gameplay is the part I have gripes with. The camera wasn't that good and it the jolting while aiming made me a bit nauseous. The bull also sometimes spawned right on top of me when the level started, and I had to quit once I managed to lure the bull outside it's probably intended area and then trap myself there later.
Very nice foundation, though might need some refinement. For example, melee cooldown, movement speed etc.
But overall I really like it and giving you high scores. Well done!
All aspects of a game have a good look.
Idea is fresh here, i haven't saw anything like this on a jam.
I like playing this. Only issue I discovered is that enemies looks unbalanced, but I think it's just my claws:)
Thank you for sweet sumbition!
