LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Disco Icecave Laser Death Tag by Birke 2015-04-21T15:06:00

With the key thingies and open spaces it works much much better. It's quite solid gameplay and while playing I can see myself getting better and trying different strategies. Which is really good.

I'm using a strategy in which I shoot in bursts, then wait and hope for them to clean the level while hiding. Then I go out and finish whatever is there while avoiding groups of lasers instead of individual chaotic lasers. In the process I get better quickly at moving around loads of lasers. I see this strategy as the 'Unconventional' side of the weapon.

LD35 — Shapeshift

Crops of Carnage by fanatiko 2016-04-19T23:05:00

My journey through this game:
223 moons and I still don't understand the rules really well.
I guess the goal is to keep some kind of balance since I usually get to game over quite quickly if I try to 'fight' the werewolves.
Then I read the description and instructions. I manage to get to game over in 10 moons. Not really sure if I really won.

But, It was really interesting to explore, figuring out the pattern. The graphics and little polish details really made me stick to the game trying again and again.

Babygirl Caty & the shapeshifting kittens by AlejoAC 2016-04-20T23:24:00

Thanks everybody for playing and commenting.
About the sound, I agree it sound too many times, also because there are too many kittens at once, which was not the plan at first.
Anyway, if you want to really know the truth about the sounds, here you have: https://twitter.com/alejocamaleon/status/721445675976810496

I'll make a post-mortem to share the experience (follow @alejocamaleon if you're interested). Spoiler: I like using jams and similar opportunities to explore mechanics instead of getting polished experiences. Also, I may finish this in an after compo version so I can actually try how the original gameplay idea feels. A lot of your suggestions and complains are mostly considered in the original vision, but hey, that's what jams are about. Critique is well received.

@2kah thanks for the bug report. That happens because not all kittens have actions defined. I may fix this, as I found out it's actually allowed by the rules. Also adapting the controls for touch (actually it's already half way there) to make an android port (also allowed in the rules, wohoo!)

@orion_black Thanks! The soon-to-be-mother was also quite happy "C" is already starring in a game.

Starshift by jacklehamster 2016-04-18T21:41:00

It's very rewarding to see the final graphics when all the shapes are complete.
With more work on usability and polish it could be a great game for kids.

Shamanic Panic by panurge 2016-04-18T22:35:00

I did it!
The hare level was the most difficult for me.
The dialogue is hilarious and hooked me in there so I could see all of it.
Well done!

AntiVaxx by macronoid 2016-05-10T00:00:00

Fun little game, the movement is quite fluid and hooked me in. But the mechanic runs out of interest quickly.
The graphics fit really well together, it doesn't look like like a Jam game.

"I will put my shoes on
and do what I feel"

A bit uncontrollable if you are trying to do something really specific, but really fun to tumble around while exploring. The pinball/skate area is huge and have a lot of hidden little corners.
I was playing with a gamepad and being able to control the camera with the second stick can be really helpful.

Cheese Factory Simulator by brgarnet17 2016-05-10T00:28:00

A bit hard to get at first. Then it's like, oh, it's just typing.
Then when you realize you are spending the next minutes poking random keys and getting cheese.
Not a revolutionary design but entertaining for a Jam game.

Formation Charge! by theholychicken 2016-05-10T00:20:00

My main strategy is "the meat grinder". Changing formations make enemy soldiers fly everywhere >:D

Adding to what others said (losing conditions) I miss direct shortcuts to formations instead of cycling. After some time I was kind of getting the idea of which formation was the best for each encounter based on the dispersion fo my batallion.

SHΔPE by TiRSO! 2016-04-18T21:00:00

So elegant.
In the end it kind of sound like it's music when the shapes are coming quicker.
Sometimes I get small sequences that repeat creating some patterns in waves. Did you do that or it's just coincidence?

Congrats!
Highscore 82

Her Home by Lancelot Gao 2016-04-18T23:22:00

Difficult and polished.
But hey! It kept me playing.
Level 3 is some kind of statement about not being able to progress in life because of tyding up the toys and feeding the baby?
I miss not seeing the end but it got quite frustrating. And I was using a gamepad which helps a lot with the control.

Endless Shipshifter by Multiplexor 2016-04-19T23:57:00

This is a solid game!
I only have two complains:
- The big ship in your main screenshot is misleading advertising. I want a ship that big but afaik I cannot have that in those tight spaces.
- I was expecting the ship to loose parts when hit instead of dying all at once. This way it would be more like shifting and make it somehow easier to explore different ship configurations.

I loved the presentation: story beginning and the end with stats and also the little segments for installing new parts.

Shadow Morph by DavidErosa 2016-04-18T21:50:00

Cool idea. I don't have a VR device to try this, but the concept works as good with flat screen and mouse.

I was completely winning and then identical shadows started to appear.
Not fair!
Then, toying around I realized sometimes I could see a second shadow in the ceiling, coming from the same light source and giving away completely the shape of the object.

Sky Panic by ladybenko 2016-04-19T23:33:00

It's surprising how well this works for such a straight forward idea.
When I was watching your progress in twitter it looked quite simple with the placeholder shapes. The graphics really give the game a whole new appeal and meaning.
I find funny that people find the shifting pointless since there are arguments to play using only one of the ships, for both of the ships.
I'm taking no side as I was switching quite often.

Panic in the Attic by Tatos 2016-04-18T21:12:00

The graphics look cute even being only sketches.
It was quite easy to find the ghost every time as she entered in some kind of loop, hiding always in the same spots as the same object, so I just memorized that.
This could be a great memory game if each try to catch the ghost had a higher cost.

You're a Floor Lamp Now by blinry 2016-04-18T22:08:00

Unexpected and humorous take on the theme.
Sometimes I had to wait too much for more fireflies, but in the end Mr. Mouse had its cheese.

Poly Shape by pabloruizroldan 2016-04-19T22:43:00

I have been able run with the ball in the downside of a rock. I don't know why others are complaining, the ball sticks to anything! ;)
I love when changing to square briefly to break a wall then shifting again to ball and keeping the momentum.
To be honest, I could't go past the rotating rocks that go up to the top of the screen. Simply with a with a easier level and a less step learning curve it could be have a great feel.
