I like this game, the pixel art is cool.
really loved how pixel art is done and smoothness of the animation!
Nice speed platformer! I wish there were clear hint about hitting button with tapes and killing enemies to open certain gates.
@segtree @khoie4 Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you liked the art style @bloodbane I tried matching the door color with its function but you're right, it could use some hint. Thanks for your feedback!
Too confusing for me, but seems fun
I quite like it but struggling with the keyboard controls, I could not get controller working but I'll try again later. Graphics are looking super, very crisp and clear and sparkly.
Love it! That pixel art is gorgeous, and the platforming is tight. Also the golden tapes add a nice challenge to the level. I'm currently stuck at level 14 (the leap of faith). I can't seem to make the jump however way I try. Am I missing something ?
@mikoolec sorry to hear that, but thanks for dropping a comment anyway
@half-and-half I agree, keyboard controls are not the best... Jumping is also bound to Space bar, maybe it helps?
@ghettobastler Thanks for your kind comment! Yeah, that level 14 is... tricky, it's something that hasn't been introduced before. Maybe have a look at the screenshots, they might give you a clue... 😉
@rend I got it! That's a neat trick, and the last levels were pretty challenging. Great game!Screenshot 2026-10-22 at 16-16-48 B-K1ND by Oddly Shaped Pixels.png
@ghettobastler Amazing! Some levels are really hard... Now the 20 golden tapes! 😄
Nice platformer. I like the cloning mechanic that occurs when rewinding time.
A cute little plattformer! Maybe its me, but there was quite a lag in the controls. This made jumps a bit imprecice. But overall a great experience! I really love the flashy effect of the golden tape. Really makes my dopamine go!
Super Tape Boi! I need to try it again with a controller but the experience was really fun and I loved the pixel art and palette!
Really cool game. I got through around 13 levels, and then it got a bit tough.
What I liked: everything is very stylish, and the jumping feels great. A small number of mechanics gives rise to a lot of interesting puzzles.
A couple of small nitpicks: I sometimes missed a reset button, since if I messed up at the start of a level I had to wait for the timer. Also, the golden cassettes often require understanding the rewind mechanic, so I ended up figuring it out before the level that actually teaches it.
Otherwise, the game is very solid. One of the best I’ve seen so far!
This is one of the best games I have played in this ludum dare. I really like the time rewind mechanic and the movement is smooth. If I really had to nit-pick, I'd say the keyboard controls were a little frustrating but the game felt very good to play with a controller. The jumping across the gap using a copy of yourself is a great idea for a level but I feel it was a little painful to execute (as someone who doesn't play platformers, so could just be a skill issue on my part). Maybe, making the copy float for just a little longer at its last position before it vanishes would help? I love the crisp pixel art and the variety in levels is also great. Really enjoyed playing this!
This was cool! I always love this kind of replaying a previous version of yourself mechanic and you executed it really well here. I love the artstyle and the platforming felt nice. It would be nice if there was a quick restart option as sometimes I failed a level but just had to wait for the timer to run out so I could try again. But otherwise I really enjoyed it. Great job!
Really good game with an astonishing visual—something retro, but clever. The animations are really well done, and the gameplay is unusual. The color palette is gorgeous. Maybe one of the best platformers, which I played on Unity. I like playing with time and physics. You made a solid entry in this Jam category. I had fun playing. I have to come here again in order to proceed further. Thank you for your contribution. I wish you the best ++
Have to say the platforming was a bit too hard for me in combination with the puzzles, I couldn't get past level 17 (even though I feel like this should be an easier level and I am missing something...) But I managed to beat level 15, even tough the second half of it was pretty hard for me 😅 But the mechanic is a really cool idea! Maybe wished it was introduced a bit earlier because the additional third button threw me off a bit. It could be that I am just coping here but I think there is an animation before the actual jump, which make the controls feel a bit weird to me. So maybe just in general a bit too difficult for me, but still cool and innovative entry!
A fun platformer with puzzles. The little robot is so cute. Good job!
I like the "b-kind rewind" name/pun. Very suitable for old tech. The pixel art and color scheme also work to give the game that vintage vibe.
The 10 second timer on the levels is a clever mechanic. It means you can make fiendishly difficult sections and mostly not make the player too frustrated because the retry is near instant. That said, it might be nice to add a retry button. Sometimes, I'd mess up in the first second and know I couldn't make the level anymore, but there was no quick way to kill myself. Having to wait 10sec is not that long... until you have to do it 6 times in a row because you suck :P
For the rest of my feedback, please keep in mind that I was playing on a keyboard, not a controller. That probably impacted how easy the game was to control. Also: I'm not great at precision platformers. Hopefully, feedback from players who suck at your game still has value :)
The jumps at times felt on the edge of unfair to me. The line between "too far to make the jump" and "too close you got electrocuted" was sometimes very slim. That might be an intentional choice to make things harder, and the fact that each level is only 10sec long makes it more forgiving, but it made me personally never feel like I really had control of if I was going to make a jump or not.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the rewind option to work for me. It would be nice if there was a longer tutorial for that. Probably I was just using it wrong, but I could never get it to do what I actually wanted and I eventually gave up. When I decided to try again, I had to start from the beginning and I ran out of patience on those jumps that for me felt on the edge of unfair. I didn't get to see the full game, sadly.
Another thing that may be a skill issue, may be a balance issue: the golden tapes never seemed worth it to get. The time they give was almost always less than the time it took to get them and the levels are timed so tightly I could almost never get them. Maybe I'm just slow? Or maybe there needs to be a little rebalancing there?
I do see potential here for a fun retro-themed precision platformer. The various mechanics provide lots of interesting combinations and the 10sec limit means you can make almost endless levels without the player getting bored. I am impressed with how much variety there was in the levels I saw and that wasn't even the whole game. Honestly, impressive for only 3 days work!
dadada.png Loved it!
**Very fun levels and clever puzzles!** I like that the game gradually teaches you new ways to utilize time rewind, a great concept with an even better execution.
Also, what a crazy luck to finish this level with 0,0 seconds remaining 😄
A cute little platformer-puzzle game. For a long time I didn't know that you could rewind time, which is why I was getting the golden cassettes on my own. At some point this stopped working out, and I just gave up on them, but level 14 still forced me to learn the mechanic. After that the game really opened up! Excellent work!123.png
@tosmaster I feel you on the laggy jump, I've added a Win64 build to see if it's the web build but I'm not sure...
@ingi you're right, somebody else mentioned it, and it's true that I also felt the need to restart a level sooner but it didnt make it to the final check list. A good addition for the post jam version
@gamesplusjames indeed, I don't know why I didn't take the time to implement a restart key... It's a 2 min task and would have been a great QoL improvement. Thanks for your comment!
@geckoo1337 thank you for your heartwarming comment 🙏
@oadt @mikemikemakes You're both right, there's a 1-2 frame animation of jump prepping that gives that unresponsive feeling, it could be better. And 3 keys on the keyboard is hard I reckon, I should have tested it (I played with a controller throughout the whole process)
@kitmani Wow nice! You're the first one (that I know of) to get all the golden tapes 👏 My intention was that once you learn the rewind mechanic, you might revisit earlier levels to get those hardest golden tapes. But now I realize it's not clear you have the rewind power from the beginning.
@rend Actually, I directly felt this idea of yours. I didn't immediately understand that you could bounce off the wall, but then I figured it out and came back. So I think you did everything perfectly.
Your game reminded me of 10 Second Ninja. I love games like this!
And overall, the game is already really cool, especially considering it's a jam version. But if you decide to keep working on it, there are a few things I'd like to point out:
- The keyboard controls aren't very comfortable. Someone mentioned above that it feels great with a gamepad, but I didn't have a chance to try that myself. - The difference between a low jump and a high jump is way too subtle. On the level where this mechanic is introduced, I died at least 5-7 times just because the character wouldn't do a low jump, no matter how quickly I released the jump key. - The movement doesn't feel smooth enough, in my opinion. In a game where every second counts, it's important to minimize the moments when you get caught on the level geometry. - The timer should start when the character starts moving, not right at the beginning of the level. - As others have already mentioned, some tapes in the early levels are impossible to reach without rewinding, which hasn't been introduced yet at that point. It feels frustrating, more like a level design mistake.
Anyway, I really hope you keep working on it and release it!

Call it skill issue, but this is where I give up.
My two cents are these: the mechanic is not that well implemented. The rewind gets cut off at inconsistent durations, the window during which you can use your ghost as a platform is too slim, nor is it clearly explained except barely by that screenshot you mention. It doesn't help also that there feels to be some input delay, not only while jumping but also while moving. I had many instances of me releasing the button and the character stopping a few frames later. For reference I was playing on a 100 FPS monitor. I am unsure if your physics engine runs independently or if the physics run at 60 ticks per second the render-physics frequency mismatch is creating problems.
@aterim Thanks for your comment, 10 seconds ninja is definitely a huge inspiration. But I agree, for it to be a full commercial project, the physics engine should be rebuilt from scratch (I made it during a past Ludum Dare and didn't touch it since, it sure has flaws). Sadly I cant work on the game past the time frame of the jam (for legal reasons) so it will stay like this
@andriybyelikov Thanks for the detailed feedback, I dont think your 100Hz monitor has something to do with it. You should try the desktop version as for the input lag issue. And the rewind is consistenly 5s, unless you rewind early in the level and it can't go past the 10s mark
I have completed all levels, but I didn't hunt all the tapes. I enjoyed the game, even though it was frustrating sometimes. Level 14 and 19 gave me the most trouble, but they were the most rewarding to figure out and complete.
I like how the game looks, every object stands out, is easily readable and feels dynamic. Particle effects look cool and audio effects sound cool.
At some points I wished I had a quick restart button.
I think there is a clash between 10-second timer and puzzly-thinky nature of some levels. The game rushes you with ticking timer but actually no, you have to just look at the level and figure out the solution first. Then you think you figured it out and want to try the solution, but the timer is already at 7:00 so you don't have enough time and no way to quickly restart (sometimes there are no spikes or enemies nearby). You can rewind but no, you thought about using rewind for a different purpose. All of this breaks the flow and adds to the frustration and platformers are already frustrating enough...
Also, I think that with 10-second levels every level could probably fit on just one screen, so the player could understand its layout faster, from just one glance and wasn't required to explore it first. Right now some levels are bigger and they feel more complicated.
Really nice one! The keyboard controls were a bit weird. I liked the fluidity of the movement system. The jump felt pretty natural. Good job!
Really good gameplay! 🤖📼 I love how the VCR mechanics are used to solve puzzles. Ejecting VHS tapes and rewinding time are such creative abilities, and they make the platforming feel really interesting. The idea of playing as a little VCR robot trying to escape an exploding lab is also super cool! It’s a great combination of old tech and clever puzzle design. Amazing work! ❤️
Great platformer! Really liked how you used the rewind theme. Just a really well-made and enjoyable platformer. Nice work!
The very old-school game design style can also be regarded as being in line with the "old tech" theme. The dynamic sound effects are all very good, and the graphics are just simple enough. It would be a pity not to have added music. The game mechanism is also a rather traditional 2D platformer style. The timing for some levels is a bit demanding.
Wow, so cute graphics.. and everything!
Amazing, how you were able to add a lot of mechanics into this and a lot of levels! :O
Good job, I really enjoyed this game :)
