This game is awesome. I love the fact that you played around with the perspective and made the game from the enemy's perspective. I also love the flavor text after dying.
My only gripe is that it is very easy to cheese simply by walking in circles around the exter-meh-nator.
@unloosed Thank you! I think that might actually be a bug - the exter-meh-nator's speed gradually increases over time, and the turning speed is supposed to as well - specifically to prevent that strategy. Not sure if that fits into "bug fix" or "tuning" so I'll probably leave it as-is for the Compo just to be fair, but I appreciate that you played long enough to figure out how to break the game!
Cool game! Just a tip, Godot actually has the ability to export your game into HTML5 so that you can embed your game directly into your itch.io page. I managed to figure it out for this jam so it wasn't too hard to accomplish. Helps more people play/rate your game!
@brotherbrody Thanks for playing! There's one critical blocker to HTML5 export: the "swat zone" texture is actually a Decal at the moment, which is not supported by the Compatibility renderer used for HTML5 export. :frowning2: ~~I'm exploring refactoring that to allow for an embed in the near future though!~~ Figured out a (good enough) solution to avoid Decals! :fireworks:
I dont know if you have ever played Banjo Kazooie but the ant reminds me so much of the first level when Mumbo turns you into the ant. I love it! Interesting mechanic of controlling the object that was not attached to the camera, very unique:)

Very fun and interesting idea. Might be the first game I've come across that actually deserves a high rating in the "innovation" category! I'll have you know I managed to fail hard enough to get zero stars! :sunglasses:
Always love when people make a Linux build, you're a real one for that!

非常有意思的游戏,一开始我还以为我是人类,还在想这游戏怎么自动就把虫子杀了哈哈。或许这叫第二人称?This is a very interesting game. At first, I thought I was a human and was wondering how the game automatically killed the bugs, haha. Perhaps it's called the second-person perspective?
Took me a while to understand that I am the bug :D
Neat concept, and very interesting idea! I also like the janky physics so that i can destroy the whole room!
Overall very original and nice game!
Keep up the good work <3

It's a very interesting game, and I really like its perspective—a mix of third-person and first-person (though I'm not sure how it hit me from above the table)

I like this one! The primary camera not being attached to my player is a really interesting game mechanic that I think was well executed in this game. Great work!!!
Fun game! Off the top of my head I can't remember playing any 2nd person games before but it works. I can see this as a part of a larger game where you are going room to room and house to house, facing increasingly advanced exterminators with better gear. I feel like a bit more impact with each swat (maybe even breaking some items) would have made it even better, but I know there is never enough time for these finer touches in the compo time limit. I also want to say that the percussive soundtrack was a great choice. It evokes a frantic chase scene or for me.
Anyway, great game. would ruin exterminator's career again. :)
very cool! this was actually the first idea I had, but picked the second one as I didn't think this would be fun. I was wrong, it is indeed fun, very well executed.
Yoooooo! This isn't a 1st or 3rd person game. It's a 2nd person game! You are looking through the eyes of the exterminator as you play the bug! Super interesting! was fun! Loved the jump sound

Really nice idea to 2rd person view. the game looked like GTA when there are stars on screen)
@cam-moore I haven't played BK myself, but I'm very familiar (grew up in the SNES/N64 generation :older_man:) - that's high praise!
@mars Thank you! All credit to Godot for making Linux builds super simple. I don't know why more devs don't provide Linux builds, but glad to do my part!
@obi-w I'm not smart enough to say for sure, but I do think the game is close to "second-person". Thank you for playing! - 我不够聪明,无法肯定地说,但我确实认为这款游戏接近“第二人称”。感谢您的参与!
@multiplexor Honestly, that was one of the things I was worried about: making sure players could quickly figure out who/what they could control. Thanks for the kind words, glad you appreciated the physics! It's not broken, it just...has character.
@flewbimo Thank you! The hit detection vs. "swat zone" texture is definitely a little busted, especially when the bug is on a raised surface. Something for me to fix in a more evolved version of the game, perhaps!
@xand  Thanks! I know I'm not the first to try something like this, but I'm glad to hear my 2-day attempt didn't completely fail lol
Never seen or played a second person perspective game before - so I find this incredibly cool. I'm also impressed that you managed to belt out such a cool looking 3D game for the compo. Music fits in nicely, and the game loop's fun for a bit. Got past the five stars then wasn't sure what to do next - wanted another goal. Had fun while I was running away though :)
I felt like it was easy, like I just walked forwards and beat it, the second time i was even faster! -J

The first, and quite possibly only second person (yes that's a thing) game I played during a ludum dare, daring yet done elegantly, this is one of my top picks for this jam, BRAVO!
Ps: Second person refers to a game where your character is perceived through the perspective of another, in this case the bug is perceived from the perspective of the exterminator
