It's a neat toy. There's something funny in the irony of turning a little Roomba into a Cloverfield monster X)

tori 2024-10-08 13:56

Ho wow , i was playing a bit with control figuring out what to do, then i switched view and .. those screem and eyes :' ) unexpected but so fun ! good job

kanity 2024-10-08 19:46

Hopefully you are feeling better now!

OK that was funny. I kept switching between different viewpoints and it felt so dramatic I laughed a bit :D But those little guys being absolutely obliterated... Maybe I shouldn't clean dust ever again. Good thing my robot vacuum cleaner is broken! (;_;)

*Also I left for like an hour, came back and he is still cleaning. Very dedicated!

Surprisingly neat toy. Wish I had a robotic vacuum cleaner in my game, had fun playing it! Well done.

local-minimum 2024-10-09 15:41

I should perhaps almost be ashamed of myself for how much I enjoyed placing the dust motes right in front of the roomba again and again. The different cameras was also a delight, in getting close-ups of them being sucked up.

I didn't manage to place any boxes though. Not sure what I did wrong there.

Hope you feel better soon, and great work getting this done while being sick!

Also what is this water color looking larger game you are working on?!

keithswanger 2024-10-10 00:51

Hilarious. The face on the vacuum is perfect, and the way it stops moving before rotating to its next target, along with the sound effects, had me cracking up. The screams are great. The visual presentation is great. Fun little toy! I can see the foundation of where you wanted to take it with your original idea, and I'm glad you were able to release despite the circumstances!

ava-skoog 2024-10-10 15:07

Thanks, everyone. πŸ’œ Health is almost back to normal. Glad you had fun with this!

@local-minimum: Weird about the boxes! Works for me… :( Did you make the area big enough? They need to fit. I didn't really have time to make it clear, but the rectangle goes red only if there's something in the way, but not if it's too small to fit anything. Maybe it should've gone yellow or something.

local-minimum 2024-10-10 15:37

Alright today boxes worked fine! I guess I was mostly playing with more close up cameras to see what was happening when the dust motes got sucked up and then I guess it was hard making box area large enough to fit one. I agree it would have been nice with a color indicator for area is too small to fit object.

ava-skoog 2024-10-11 18:28

@local-minimum: Good to know it wasn't completely broken, but yeah. Also I just noticed I forgot to answer your question, sorry! Watercoloury game is my forever project I guess, hope I can present something playable some day but it'll take the time it takes haha :') It's a story-heavy information game kind of. Exploring people's memories and finding clues.

An amusing entry β€” seeing those tiny critters run in fear and panic is both comedic and tragic. I imagine this is what ants and other small creatures experience every day. If ants had a religion, Hoover would be Satan. There is definitely a movie in this, albeit a strange one.

silkworm-sweatshop 2024-10-16 23:20

Cute! It was fun just to switch the cameras around. Especially love how the sound mixing changes with the camera angle as well, super nice touch.

volkolak 2024-10-20 12:16

Interesting mechanics, I think this is a good thing for further development of the idea!

ciaranw 2024-10-20 18:18

Ha, cute concept - hope you're feeling better! The hero camera was really nicely done, it made mowing down the (adorable) dust bunnies feel very dramatic.

I thought creating boxes was broken - but actually I think that its just surprising how big the area has to be (and its difficult to actually draw one big enough.

Nice job making this fun minigame despite being ill!

roka-josh 2024-10-22 20:10

Great concept and well executed. Would love to see this developed further into an actual game. Great job!

jawdan 2024-10-23 04:15

Cute and fun toy! Love the 'Dust bunny' approach. The art style and quality as well as the googly eyes are a amazing. Great work!!

thomas-bringer 2024-10-24 18:29

Very cool! Not really a game indeed, but very fun to play around with... and that's the most important part in my opinion. Great game feel and sound effects!

coderaurus 2024-10-25 14:45

Cute little thing. Aesthetically very pleasing, and I like the little noises dust bunnies make.

Shame we didn't get a complete game but good work regardless!

ginxel 2024-10-25 19:41

It's a really cute game, I love all the different camera angles, the only issue I had was the audio. It sounds like the music is clipping and it doesn't loop very seamlessly, but overall good work!

death-bread 2024-10-25 21:32

As a toy, I like it! :)

ava-skoog 2024-10-25 21:52

Thanks, everyone! Really appreciate your words.

I agree about the music, @ginxel, I was aware of it by the end of the jam but I didn't really have time to fix it unfortunately. :(

pachino55 2024-10-26 02:55

Cool toy!
