Wow!! Seriously impressive. I actually beat the whole thing. You did an excellent job with scaling the difficulty and designing the right mix of characters in such a short time. I loved it! Like a great flash game of old :)
Cool concept - was interesting to try out different lineups. I found a combination of flingers and ladybugs to be most effective but perhaps there's room for the other insect too - I couldn't quite make that one work.
It was a bit frustrating that most of the difficulty came from trying to make the insects not get stuck on each other and walls rather than strategising against the opponent - maybe it would have been more fun to keep the gameplay locked to the grid rather than the insects having free movement? More variety in units would be welcome too, though that's understandable given the time limits.
The artwork isn't really my style but it's incredibly well done for such a short timeframe - gritty and very detailed! I see that this is your first LD entry so I'm looking forward to your artwork in future games - hopefully with fewer insects! :)
Good work!

Good game about protection strategy with moving units) Kinda non-intuitive UI with lots of description about bugs, when it is not nessesary Game has a bug (not alive bug, but script bug) - sometimes green insect does not move and just standing.
Oh, I like this insect battler game! I'm already a fan of tower-defense style games myself (like BTD6) so this is right up my alley.
That said, a few notes: - Sometimes it's a bit difficult to tell friends from foe, because enemies use the same sprite as we do. - In the placement menu, it's difficult to tell apart insects you have already placed and insects you haven't placed yet. - There is a bug (no, not one of our units) where the first time you buy an insect the game would claim you have no units even though the insect card is right over the text that says so. - There is another bug (still not our units) where if you replay already cleared levels for resources and you win, you will advance to the next level anyways.
Overall, though, you did do great and it was satisfying to watch my wall of beetles hurl rocks at the final boss. Well done!
Really nice concept in such a short time. I kept getting frustrated trying to close the shop window every time I wanted to place my guys. Other than that I thought it was great--Lots of fun to play. Just wish there were some sound fx or music

my bugs keep getting stuck :( its like they have too much friction. Great game otherwise though

Cool game. The bug AI works well, though I think a different layout might be a bit better. The visuals are great, though it would be nice to have an indicator of which bugs have already been placed. Also, some audio would come a long way. Overall though it was really fun, great job!

Not sure if a it's a bug or a feature, but by starting a fight & retreating repeatedly, you can get infinite vouchers

LOVE the mechanics and the simplicity of it! I found the difficulty curve very easy -- I had no trouble getting through every round, but I see lots of potential here for more strategic depth. Playing on different maps would be super fun, so we would have to anticipate how the pathfinding would play out.
I had a lot of fun, it felt well balanced. I liked that my "deck" of bugs where limited so I had to choose wisely. It would have been nice with some juicy crunchy sound effects when smashing the bugs. And perhaps an extra twist to make it a bit more unique. One idea could be to expand the deck building part if you want to keep develop this concept after the jam. Great work!
Cool game. Quite difficult though! I found the pathfinding a bit frustrating, feels like bugs just didn't always go where they should or attack what was nearby

I am impressed by the difficulty scaling and the variety of characters created in a short time. ๐ฎ The idea of โโinsect combinations adds interest, but their confusing movement is a bit disappointing. The graphics are great, very detailed!
I had a lot of fun! ๐ Well done! ๐

I was defeated very quickly (
Incredible concept! I enjoyed this game a lot!
Question: If I go into a level and just retreat I get to keep my bought bugs but ALSO get more vouches, this way I can get a full army by level 1. Was that intended?
Bug (haha): The green bug shows above the level select screen, probably just a Z order thing.
@holysparks Yes this is an intended feature. I realize it can be abused but I figured that would be better than having people be frustrated because they run out of vouchers :D Thanks for the feedback!

Nice auto battler. I enjoyed saving my hive! need some simple audio( and it would be great if boss has some uniq mechanic!
Nice concept and fitting art. The bug movement felt a bit off, but it has potential. Gj!
There were some glitches, and I didn't like how there was a troop limit (the troop window had no scrollbar), but I liked this game!!!! Was super satisfying watching the battles play out

I saw a lot of potential here. The graphics are great and the bug variety is nice. But the bugs were big old dummies that crashed into each other and got stuck into nothing and I had to retreat or watch them die... Good stuff anyway, thanks for the game!
i wanted the sound of them blasting each other away to be loud and clear. Instead i had a great time commanding my troops and leading them to victory in silience. Sometimes they would get stuck and not fire. Sometimes they wouldn't shoot at all. Sometimes they wouldn't move forward. Most of the time I was victorious. Nice entry.
