I'm incredibly happy that you liked it, thank you so much!
The "Hello World" xD. Nice game you've got here. I'm especially liking the hand-drawn graphics and the story is really good.
The atmosphere of the game was great! The style, story telling and music really blended together nicely. I also enjoyed the Hello World attribute.
The one destruction song did some weird things to my ears but I think small tweak on that is all it needed.
Great job!
very unnerving and engaging, liked the atmosphere and art! reminds me of bag of milk inside a bag of milk a bit. good job.
bag of milk was definitely an inspiration, thank you!
Whoa. All I can say is, whoa. That was intense, and really well-written. Excellent work!
Very impressive writing! It pulled me in. The atmospheric sounds were top-notch too!
Super cool visuals and sound!
very impressive. that was a journey I was not prepared for. nice job!
that's an easy 5/5 innovation from me, I love the story telling aspect of video games so when I realized that this was a story focused game I was hooked, I'm still not sure exactly what I witnessed but it was a wild ride lol and the art style was pretty fitting! though I wish there was more to it from a gameplay perspective, I'm not sure how much my choices affected the game but it seems that's the only sense of control I had, other than that this is a great game and I love the uniqueness of it in a jam full of driving and pizza games!
Thanks for the feedback, I'll definitely try to implement more choices/choices that affect the gameplay in the future, sadly I was pressed for time so the decisions at the beginning really only affect one or two lines of dialogue.
That was a slap in the face, and I mean that in the best way. Super original entry, was not expecting such a grim atmosphere but I loved it.
I would have liked for the text to generally appear maybe twice as fast, with maybe a few selected lines going slower for emphasis. As it is now I had a tendency to click to accelerate text appearance (which I'm very thankful you implemented) because I kept catching up to it early.
Great use of writing/graphics/audio on their own and as a cohesive whole. Congrats!
Absolutely fantastic audio work! The heartbeat-y sound sent shivers down my neck!
It's... educational). As if lived through.
The mood of this game was really unique! Poetic experience. I'd suggest a simple arrow/continue button on screens that introduced just pictures alone; I wasn't sure if I was supposed to wait, or if I should click to proceed.
Wow, what a ride! I was completely immersed in the intense story and the atmospheric audio really elevated the experience - especially that unnerving heartbeat sound. The hand-drawn art style was an impressive touch and really complemented the narrative. It did feel like the game was more of a journey than an interactive experience though, I would have loved a bit more control or influence over the events. Also, the text seemed to appear a tad slow, maybe it could be sped up a touch? Regardless, this game was a breath of fresh air in the midst of all the typical jam entries. The grim atmosphere was unexpected but absolutely captivating. Great job!
Interesting! Good job
The visual effects in this game are well-executed, adding excitement and spectacle to the gameplay moments and creating a visually dynamic experience
Wow, you took everything magical out of the miracle of birth and left only the most unsettling things, making for a gripping and unnerving story that had me glued to the screen. I loved this one, the only thing that sort of broke the immersion is the very very loud music at that one part, I wish there was a way to adjust audio before the game began. Great job!
Unique take on both the theme and the chosen topic. I was wondering about the narrator, as I think it changes throughout the story.. so my question is who is the person/voice speaking at the beginning. I also liked how there is a sort of uncertainty as to how fast or slow the time is flowing, because it feels like some of the dialogue/thoughts/events could literally take place within seconds, but then it slows down. There is a feeling of a "limbo" of sorts hanging over the story, which I think is something many parents can identify with.
The graphics and music work well together, as mentioned by others the music in chapter 2 (from "but what of me, then?") was a little too loud at some point and it was too dominating so it didn't quite achieve a strong effect. The rest of the audio was nice though.
I have two kids, so it is always cool to see how other people interpret and think about this topic. Thanks for this original and nice LD entry!! :)
@aile Thank you for your detailed comment! If I decide to make some fixes to the game the audio is going to be a top priority as I've received a lot of comments on that. Regarding the characters, I think of it as two opposing forces and one human, but as I left it all very ambiguous it's entirely up to the player to interpret as they see fit.
nice writing, dark and poetic. more of a short story than a game since there were no decision to make or actions to take but enjoyable in it's own unique way
