Surprisingly has a very fun experience. Having to care for the nitro in your very vehicle along with the the giants breaking the bridge was very cool. Overall great job!
I really liked the sense of speed and being on the precipice of danger every time you go off balance or hit something. I thought the controls were really tight and showing off the red circle in the distance was really clever. The audio was a little loud at spots but that's my only real nitpick. Great job!
Really great game, honestly one of the best I've seen so far; I think you really nailed the level design here. Starting out with some unexpected obstacles and uneven ground was good and this was as much as I expected. But then the giant boulders and robot smashing the bridge made such awesome and surprising sequences. Also, being able to see the top of the mountain, your ultimate goal, from the very beginning was a great touch.
The physics on the barrels also felt great, and I liked that you could choose to eject some of them when they were getting too close to exploding. Also, the few times that they did explode were funny as my car was flung across the map.
One thing I would suggest is to remove some of the arrows and such, and the sign saying "slow". I think it would have been a lot funnier if I'd gone full speed up that ramp and lost all of the barrels on my first attempt. The arrows did help to make the path clearer, although I think I still would have found the route and ultimately the level should guide the player through the right path on its own.
Also, the camera could have been a little higher up to give a better view of the barrels. I noticed that it started off in a perfect position, but as my car sped up the camera mostly just showed the back of the car. Maybe this was to help give a sense of speed, but it would still have been nice to see the barrels moving around.
Overall great job, I hope you keep working on it!
I felt like I was in the movie "Speed" at some point. Being almost unable to brake it was hard to control the vehicle. But at some point I figured out that only handbrake works and it's actually the way to go. Beat the game in around 4 minutes as I was going slow and steady, but had a fun experience with this clumsy truck :)
The game is very fun, its really good to drive.
the game have some great level design, but I didn't made it to the end (because I have no patience :) ). The only thing that I can point out is that the truck is really hard to control (the rotation is way too slow, I know it's supposed to be part of the experience, but this is a bit too much, I think...)
REALLY FUN PLAYING EXPERIENCE
Nice game! Great level design - the golems at the end were awesome! The truck felt a bit sluggish and unresponsive at times, but it is an old truck after all 😊. There were also a few times where I got permanently stuck on the terrain, and some of the terrain was difficult to judge and made me lose a few times, but pretty good for a jam game nonetheless. The physics interactions were good too - I like how the truck launched when you messed up. Ended up finishing with all 5 barrels in 4:20!
So close and then it failed. I drove extremally slowly all the way and I still failed because of a weird edge near the delivery point. I like the visual and the music. the controls feels okay. Overall a simple and pretty good little jam game. Well done.
A really fun game, one of my favorites from the jam. Took me several tries to get to the top, made it in 3:35 with all barrels. The world was well designed and had a nice difficulty curve. Almost died at the giants when the camera went really low, and couldn't really see where I was going, perhaps it would be good if you could control the camera. Well done, will play again to get a better time! :)
The level design is great and the mechanis are fun, I just think the truck is more difficult to drive than it needs to be. A more arcade driving style would make it even more fun and I think would go better with the setting.
I've played a bunch of driving games in this jam and this was really fun. When I finally thought I was doing pretty good, there huge giants smashing the road, lol. The different nitro bars was a unique little feature that adds to the chaos. Great feel, level design, and pacing. Nice work.
Holy cheese balls! I tipped over just slightly and all of my barrels blew me to Kingdom Come! The truck feels really good to drive, it accelerates at a nice steady pace and steers nicely too! The music is really good as well!
At some point I was actually physically responding to the driving and the obstacles; especially when the balls came rolling at me. Pretty fun! I like the prioritizing for the art assets.
Aaaaahhh I was close to deliver all the barrells some times, so addictive :P
I enjoyed it, the level design was great and the giant smashing the road was unexpected! I like how parts of the road are already smashed to imply the giant has been there for a while. I managed to bring all the barrels to the top on my first try but played it very safe and it took me almost 10 minutes haha
Really enjoy the fact that the barrels launch skyward if you go over a ramp and the way the weight of the car shifts making it harder to control which just increases the intensity to match the music which is great. The truck is also very pretty too. I think it is a little glitchy at times and the movement of the truck could have been made a touch smoother.
I know the game is called 'get to the summit' but I think the janky movement could have worked equally as well in a less dramatic setting like a village or small town where the loose barrels have more of an impact flying at passing objects so there's some environment impact if that makes sense?. Just a small thought but otherwise, I think this is a solid entry.
Fun mechanic of trying to drive safe while avoiding hazards! I think you did a great job making the end goal of the summit visible from the start. It gave me a sense of how far the goal was and motivation to keep going. I wonder if it would add more pressure if instead of a timer, there was a countdown? That way the player is forced to drive more recklessly to speed up, but also needs to balance with driving safe (and maybe give the barrels more HP so there's more room to make mistakes).
Nice entry ! Looks like we had a similar idea so its good to see some other inspirations, good job !
Very cool entry, the music adds so much tension!
oof the boulders, but a great game, original and tense gameplay
