Great concept. I feel like it needs a bit more predictability to be a true puzzle or turn based game, as it stands I just click until a random maze makes it impossible for me to live. I had fun though, played it more than a lot of games I've tried so far.

I like your map generator. It gives the game more probabilistic.

Fun little game! I almost got all of the fruits, had just 2 more, but then they caught me.

I like how the enemies move - there's a pattern to it and you can get them stuck, at least a little bit!

And like Slanty said, some predictability might help, because now it feels a little too random.

In any case - good job!

Very clever idea! Random generation like this definitely adds to the replayability. And glad that enemies are somewhat predictable, with their specific patterns. However, I felt that I had to rely on mercy of RNG gods too much, which don't usually like me, so the game often spawned me right next to enemies, or I got to the dead end quickly. However, great job here, had fun! :)

I think it might benefit to have not a fully randomized playfield. I sometimes was sent in a situation where I took an apple and the enemy was blocking my pad. Taking a fruit might not always save me in this case. Since I did not figure out the way the enemies were moving, this became a bit frustrated. Maybe I just have to think a bit more :p

An interesting and unique take on pacman, but it's too hard for me. After 10-or-so minutes I could only get up to a about a half of the fruits. A procedural generator is very nice to have, but there should have also been a pool of premade tutorial maps (of varying size/difficulty).

This a really cool concept that adds a new spin to "Pac Man". I found it hard to take advantage of the teleporting between mazes mechanic. It mostly end up being more of a hindrance than something I could you to my advantage. Perhaps a way to preview or remind yourself of the other maze so you can plan out your path or better set up traps for the zombies.

Great stuff!

That is an innovative twist! Give me some fruit ... Pac man maze. Pac man ghosts. But turn based movement and hallucination. I like the hallucination idea conceptually!!! This jam version is playable. The following are notes on the problems I ran into. Not expecting these not to be there in a jam version, as these are mostly finde tuning and balancing issues: - some random generated levels are "unfair", as I think it was not possible to solve them without running into ghosts - I had cases where the switch from one to other maze led to dead end, because a ghost moved to my exit (maybe that's "intentionally" as I have to remember the other maze?) - the mazes are mathematically (graph theory) trees, right? That makes them hard and over time boring. Overall cool conceptual game, especially for a game jam!!!

What a cool concept! It's so satisfying when you're being chased by an enemy and you switch maps at the last moment and trap them behind a wall. That being said, I think the maze generation could use a little refinement, pretty much all of my attempts ended with me trapped in a quadrant with no fruit, and the only way out being through an enemy. Maybe if there were occasional portals on the edge of the maze that wrapped you around to the other side? Either way, what a fun game!

Really cool idea and I like the AI for the enemies. As other have mentioned, having a way of predicting how the maze will change based on your actions would make the game more "fun" in my opinion. Really nice job and really innovative twist on the theme

Great concept! I would love to have a bulb show the new maze to some distance when I mouse over (or select some other way) the fruit.

Nice game! It would be nice to somehow preview the next maze.

Very intriguing, still couldn't beat it after 20 minutes unfortunately. A bit out of the theme, but a very cool twist on the pacman idea. Lot of fun even if I couldn't win

I think I found a small bug: in the "pre-maze" phase you can move the character out of the whole area with the arrow keys.

Other than that I think that all that's needed is some electronic music and you are set.

Fun game with interesting mechanics! I like a good challenge but this was a bit too hard for me. After devouring all different fruits in an area it was easy to get roadblocked by the ghosts due to how their AI works. Still satisfying to play for a while though.

commanderstitch 2023-01-21 02:25

simple, intriguing, but upon discovering that it was randomly generated i decided it was also randomly trying to make me lose. I was unable to beat them nor was I able to tell how well i was doing or how much fruit I had collected to see if i was doing better. :D
