Great job! I'll have to try the ROM out later!
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD52 → Moon Harvest

chrome_ZoIfgyEfTA.png I like the gameplay loop but after the jetpack the rest of the plants became kinda unnecessary unless you don't have the O2 upgrades. I also think the jetpack could be a bit cheaper and maybe some indicator on how much resting at home costs? overall pretty fun Really cool that you could actually play this on an NES!
@la-bread I just uploaded a hotfix to make it cheaper to get the jetpack (actually a meta-hotfix, because the previous hotfix was wrong). And yeah, the original plan was a bit longer (multiple shops, upgrades, etc) but I spent most of the time making the "scroll back the level" thing work (compare with https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/stallar, where the level only scrolls in one direction).
Thanks for playing it :)
I like the aesthetics and the atmoshere! It was a bit confusing for me, maybe if you die in a cave you should respawn there and not in the home (?) It would be nice to see it polished to a final game!:) Thanks for the game
really cute short game ^^ extra points for NES great work!
I like the aesthetics of the game. The sound felt really punchy, so it souds good, but even it would be even better if it loops better. It's cool to see a platformer game that isn't completely linear.
I kept wanting to call the things "triangles", and I wasn't paying attention and would not have known you could use the home to cause plants to regrow if you hadn't said something in stream, but overall, very nice vibes. Solid pixelart. Good job for making an emulated retro game during the constraints of a game jam!
Nice little adventure!
Although short, it already establishes a real sense of exploration.

I like your choice of palette. The striking colors of the character and collectibles really stand out in the gray surface of the moon.
The music fits the mood. If technically feasible, it would be nice to have it loop instead of restarting between levels.
Didn't realize until the end screen that the tune actually had the second dramatic sequence.

Noticed that some graphical artifacts start appearing in the lower part of the screen after you get upgrades.

This can be particularly deceiving. I took the risk and paid the price!

Keep making games!

the idea is quite cool, but i felt a little lack of challenge, first i couldnt figureout what to do but hey every nes game does that lmao, but then it was very fun just collecting the tringles and selling them, and when i bought the jetpack it was very satisfying that i could now access areas that were unaccessable before, couple that with great music and wooow the fact it runs on an ACTUAL NES is just *mindblown*,
however a little bit more challenge would have been good, gret game and i had a ton of fun playing it
The controls were a bit confusing, but once I got used to them, it was somehow manageable. I think I managed to softlock myself by harvesting all the plants and falling off the map. Since the old ones don't respawn, I couldn't buy a jetpack.
@grizeldi you can't get softlocked; as the instructions say, you could use "Home" to sleep and regrow the plants (and to be even friendlier with jammers, you can use it even if out of money). But thanks for playing it anyway :)
Very cute game. And amazing that it was made for a NES emulator!!! I'm really impressed! It was a bit difficult to grab onto the rope, but otherwise solid entry
Thanks for submitting your game on the stream! Here’s the start of your game if you wanted to re-watch initial thoughts youtu.be/qbBq_nBKk5k?t=18010
Nice entry!
I played the jam version to be fair with other entries. Anyways, it was grindy to harvest trigle multiple times just to buy jetpack. Fortunately, that's all needed to purchase anyways as extra tanks are hardly needed. With jetpack purchased, I jumped my way to get all keys, opened the door and escaped.
Awesome concept and the title is perfection too ;)!
Wow that was great! It's a shame it ended so quickly, but I had fun with it. The small amount of grind needed to unlock the jetpack made it satisfying when I could finally cross those gaps.
Also, it's awesome that it's an NES game.
Good to see an NES game. Instantly downloaded the ROM for late play on actual hardware.
That was short, but sweet!! I got confused a little bit with what the "home" did, but I managed to figure it out. Getting all the upgrades was then just a matter of patience and perseverance. I'm not sure if I could have gone faster if I got the jetpack before the last 02 tank, but I got through it. I did wish there was something more to the ???, but eh~ xD
It was fun while it lasted~

Cool game! Ran perfectly fine on my Famicom. Getting the jetpack was quite grindy as others pointed out.
I enjoyed this! I didn't mind the grind so much, as I felt I was still perfecting some of the later mines by the time I got the jetback. I'm glad I saved for the jetpack first though. Some good progression, always satisfying to access new areas in a level that you couldnt access previously.
