Got to 7 waves it has fun mechanics that i've never seen in a card game, well done

jekyllina 2022-10-04 00:17

i like the idea but i didn't understand exactly when the enemies attack

wazce 2022-10-04 00:17

This is really cool. I got to wave 7. Creative implementation of the theme. Took a while to figure out how the rats worked. It would be great if there was some music as well. Great stuff.

This game is sweet, I kept playing for a bit. The rats are tricky. I could really see this being a fleshed out game

Super fun game! Really liked the premise, like it enough that even when I thought I hit the end cause I got the same enemy configuration 3 times in a row, I kept going. My biggest issue was the lack of feedback when things happened (took me a bit to figure out that enemies attack when one dies.) Also my hand started hurting after awhile =) - wouldn't mind being able to hotkey cards, but maybe that would let you play too fast.

Would love to more! More cards, more upgrades, more enemies (I know it's a game jam, though!) - the enemies that had meta-attacks were super cool, I liked the upgrade that rewarded trying to get 4 attacks in a row. I got to a point where I didn't think I could outheal pretty much any damage I took. Anyways, cool game!

oowo card game. that is interesting!!

macmist 2022-10-04 10:46

Really like the idea, well done! As other have mentioned, it lacks a bit of feedback, would have been great to see the enemies turn and when they actually attack. Also it was a bit strange at first to have to finish your hand to have new cards. But overall really enjoyed playing it

enver-arco 2022-10-04 11:55

felt the carpal tunnel coming back with all the mouse dragging but the game is interesting and I like the card art

erlioniel 2022-10-04 20:38

I like the idea tbh, it's interesting. However from game mechanic perspective there is something missing... Basically the overall strategy is quite simple for every room no matter what opponents are and what you have on hands. However it's working quite nicely, so anyway nicely done, dude!

i dont think that the time mechanic fits with the genre to be honest because you lose the strategy aspect. but pretty happy to see a card game in the jam.

Fun little game! I like Slay the Spire a lot and this felt like an interesting spin on it. I agree with the other comments, dragging the cards could be a bit easier (e.g. just make them bigger) and a better enemy attack indicator would be nice. One thing I love in Slay the Spire is spending time planning out your combos and I have to say that only having 10 seconds to do this felt a bit stressful. Great entry regardless! 😅

I enjoyed this :). I love card games / deckbuilders (I've been working on a roguelike deckbuilder for the last 6~ months). The theme came through nicely in the artwork.

This seemed to be mostly about speed of dragging cards rather than decisions though, which gave it a different appeal than most deckbuilders (I personally like being able to take my time rather than fast clicker games). I'd have liked to see a bit more or a focus on decisions rather than speed.

It would have been good to see enemy abilities - I think the rats have "When this dies, all other creatures attack", but this wasn't indicated anywhere. Nice job putting together a fun game in limited time.

I did enjoy this! I thought initially it was just Slay the Spire clone, but I found the 10 seconds to play as much as you can really made this game start to feel a bit different. The art was cool too, and a clean card game implementation.

Really enjoyed the game! Only stopped playing after I had so many buffs that I could go infinite. I think the 10 second timer can work well with a card game. I feel like the game could have done with more depth that would make the players decisions less straight forward. I think double-edged effects could have been cool as well, for example a card that deals more damage the lower the turn timer is. Good job overall

I like the game, the mechanic is cool and graphics are really good ! I got to wave 6

stefan-laimer 2022-10-06 09:36

Really nice game! Once you get some buffs it feels a bit too easy and I had to try and lose on purpose :D But otherwise it's really great and has a lot of potential. Great job!

A fun little Slay the spire game, after a while it does get a bit easy but still very impressive for a few days of work!

dimlight 2022-10-06 10:21

Like the previous comment, the game got a little easier when I got some buffs. I think maybe the enemy cards could be made to move around on the screen so the player doesn't pick it as easily, or the rat cards are a little smaller than the rest of the enemies... all in all this is a very promising project! Well done!

I don't think I could have died at this point other than on purpose.

Really liked it! You scoped it well! Not the first game like this i've seen this jam, but this one did it best. Very nice spin on that formula and clever implementation of the theme. You really showed the potential of this little design, and made me crave for more! More enemies, more cards, more relics... Surprisingly and interestingly, the most dangerous enemies were the rats: they leave you no leeway if you ever enter a 4 or 5 rats room with like, a hand full of attacks. That's a nice quirk of the design space and I think it would need to be exploited a lot more! Low health enemies is actually a ressource for you to unload your cards into. Lots of very interesting things could be done within this space. I'd love to play around designing for this kind of stuff. Great job, good entry, I had a lot of fun with it.

Completed 35 waves, then just got bored. Once you figure out the optimal strategy, the game becomes a clicker (dragger?) fest. Timer-increasing relics are OP and a little cheat on the theme :P Good job!

neisha 2022-10-06 11:38

I love card games and this is such a fun card game! I really enjoyed playing it. It feels really polished and well thought out. This game has a lot of potential! Really nicely done!

foggydude 2022-10-06 11:52

I really like this, takes a bit to understand but once you do it really starts to be fun! Great Job!

nash 2022-10-06 12:05

It is an interesting concept for sure! The way the timer works takes a lot away from the strategy aspect though. After a while it does not really feel like a card game anymore because you are just trying to do things as fast as possible. You could almost replace cards with action buttons and the game would be almost the same.

Balance-wise the game could use some work if you plan to keep working on it after the jam. Time increasing cards are incredibly powerful and they probably allow the player to survive infinitely. The game is at its best when you are low HP and the timer is running out and you are trying to find the way to survive. Increasing the timer takes this away completely.

Bonus points for the amount of polish you have put into the card hover feedback and dragging to use them. These kind of features have become a staple in the genre after Hearthstone so I think it was a good decision to take time to implement some of those game feel increasing features in this game too.

Overall, interesting concept. Good work!

A good strategic game where the fast you are to play card and the smart you are, the longest time you'll stay alive, i appreciated
