Ha ha, how could I not play "Shotgun Disco Queen?" And it lived up to the name! Art and sound on point for just the right energy. Gameplay has a nice rhythm to it. Great job!

The graphics, and music really work well for this game! I was pleasantly surprised when I beat the first level and there was still more to do! I would've liked a little more variety in the game play, like different weapons or enemies. Well done!

I CANT BELIEVE HOW GOOD THIS IS. as someone watching over my shoulder said: the vibes are immaculate. the art direction is fantastic, love the cover, love the art. the music is incredible, the idea of "hotline miami but it becomes a stealth game every ten seconds" is great and its ALSO a rhythm game with the shots (and the fact that they slow movement is so hard and jarring in a good way) i can't compliment this enough. fav game so far.

The art style, color palette and music are fantastic, everything is really well put together! My frontal lobe light up light a Christmas tree experiencing this one. The game play and enemy ai is quite smooth too. A very nice package overall!

This is super cool! Love the aesthetic, thought the gameplay was really well-done. It does what the best LDJAM games do, which is leave you wanting more!

BUT it was a really cool game, great music and great graphics! Pretty solid too, maybe the movement is just a little slow but it adds to the anxious atmosphere of the steak phase... stealth, stealth phase :angel_tone2:

(loved the Hotline Miami vibes)

Nice game! Graphics were fantastic and set the mood very well! It was also very clear what enemies were hostile and what were not (witch was really great at the boss). Also the tactical element that the shield enemies added was nice, as I could use the hostile phase in my advantage! Music was great and fit the game perfectly. Also the end boss was superb! Kept dying for dumb mistakes but beat him at the end! Yay!

One minor thing was that I felt like you did a cute main character sprite but I could not get a good view of her since the shotgun was rotating on her face XD

Fantastic art skills! This game is just JUICY as hell. You really nailed the feel of everything. The hotline miami style really showed through on this and it some ways ever better. Aesthetically, this game is just 5 stars. Did you make the music yourself? Because the track was an absolute banger!

I think the big problems are to do with game design. First off I think the player controller is moving way too slow for a game that should be action packed and disco thumping. Going through the levels was pretty excruciatingly slow sometimes. I should mention a programming issue I noticed, doesn't matter for a game jam but worth noting in the future: your diagonal movement is faster than your up/down left/right movement because you're not normalizing the direction vector. Also, I could double my speed if I used both wsad and arrow keys at the same time because there was no limit to your movement vector.

Second, even though you're trying to follow the rules of the theme, I'm not too sure what's the point of completely slowing down the pace of the game every 10 seconds. Visually it looked super cool, but from a gameplay perspective, all it did was just make me stop playing every 10 seconds and wait until I can resume.

Finally, for your final boss fight, this is more of a visual thing, but when I first fought the boss, I thought his health bar was a wall blocking my shots. I figured it out pretty quick but its something to consider in visual design.

At the end I couldn't defeat the boss and I tried many times. I couldn't figure out what to do when he gets to half health and the adds spawn that chase me while I'm weak.

Other than that, this was a SUPERB entry! Thank you so much for the game!

Very Hotline Miami inspired im guessing? especially with the quiet moments after each level. I really like the concept and the change in feeling from being a powerful force with a gun to a scared pac man. well done on the mood!

:heart: LOVE YOU ALL FOR YOUR HEARTWARMING COMMENTS, thank you, it makes all the sweat blood and tears worth it :heart: @jag thank you playing, for precise critique and very useful tips! indeed the input vector is not normalized - I've learned a lot about making top-down stuff during the jam and your comment adds even more to this fresh tasty neural patterns! :dizzy_face: about the music: one action-stealth music track combo was fully composed from scratch to flow perfectly into one another (the one you hear during the boss encounter in mission 3.) other tracks were put together with the help of some nice freely avaliable loops and samples to add more variety. :musical_note: @boclow congratis for having the persistence to beat the final boss :kiss: @sterco-raro steak phase creates some vivid images in my imagination, certainly worth exploring... the steak dimension...
