the controls feel so good, some parts are really tricky when you have to change screen while climbing.

milq 2022-10-03 02:14

Is this your first participation in a Game Jam? Congratulations! Is a good game!

Also, it is the first game I have played in this edition of Ludum Dare! I love platforms, and what can I tell you, I love this game and I've had a good time. The only but would be to put a valuable description of the game. Great game!

m4ttu 2022-10-03 15:45

@milq It is, yes! That's actually the first game I every released. I have started learning Unity a few months ago and I've been working on a card game. :)

I didn't have the time to really come up with a good page with a nice description and visuals to "sell" the game. But thanks a lot for the kind words, I appreciate it.

@castitatis Thanks! I agree, the screen switch at the top is finicky and I'm pretty sure can lead to bugging your run but I didn't have time to make sure to "pull you up" if you reached the other room.

Sorry I'm not a good platform player. Got stuck on the Dashing. Didn't find the 'theme' elos?!?! but that is propably because i wasn't getting to it/them!?

recursor 2022-10-03 16:59

I like how you introduce the player to the mechanics and then: "oh yeah, there's this Elos character that wants to kill you...". The game world is a bit sparse, but that comes from the 48h time limit. Overall nice job.

fifut 2022-10-03 18:22

The character is funny. A little sticky and cute ball. The mechanics of the game work perfectly. Congratulations

lukas0842 2022-10-04 12:29

Very fun game, I really liked it. Sadly it's a bit short but very good work for 48h :)

First game jam? Wow! Love the set up - good tutorial walkthrough to set things up and then the hook. Level design is very good - I started getting Celeste vibes. I feel like this would be a lot easier on the controller, but alas I don't have one set up. E was a bit difficult to use - I kept missing and pressing R instead. That's basically my only suggestion - change the dash to maybe shift or enter? But otherwise, great game!

senso 2022-10-04 18:45

love how your gamedesign is easy and clean. Explained when you need it ! Good job

saskle 2022-10-04 19:21

Love the storytelling and the fact you implemented a tutorial! Great entry for a first time!

There's something weird going on with the camera if you play the game in-browser on itch, but going full screen fixed it for me. Other than that, good job!

Man that was challenging. The one thing that'd make it a bit more satisfying is for the wall jumps to reflect the angle like a pool ball or something, as it felt really hard climbing inside a vertical tunnels. Something where if you time it right, you bounce off alternate walls?

m4ttu 2022-10-04 22:17

@recursor @fifut @lukas0842 @senso, @saskle Thanks for playing and for your kind words! I appreciate it!

@pixelydian Thanks a lot!! I have to admit that I have developed it for controllers and I haven't given much thoughts about E being weird on keyboard  And as a lefty, I usually have some weird keybinds ahah. But you're 100% right that Shift would have been a better keybind.

@johnnysix Thank you for playing! It was meant to be challenging but I might have gone a bit overboard ahah. For the jump, it's a great idea, I might try to see how it feels. I originally wanted controller players to be able to adjust the angle with the stick rather than setting it to 45deg by default.

johnnysix 2022-10-04 23:11

@m4ttu - Oh wow, didn't see that, yeah, the stick is cool where you have it but if not , I guess for the hardcore speed-runners ( which your game would be great for with some more levels / puzzles etc ) - a consistent move is more satisfying to pull off, and it's all about that timing / rhythm

Great little platformer, challenging as hell! Sound was only coming to be out of my left ear which was a little annoying but other than that good stuff! Would have loved to see a sprite for the hazards though. One slight nitpick I have is it's a little annoying that you slow down (horizontally) when landing, ruined the flow a little for me. Other than that though great platformer for the short amount of time you had.

adamcyounis 2022-10-05 05:28

Heya! Thanks for sharing this one. I appreciated the pretty tight platform controls and generous double jump and dash. Though there wasn't a lot of level design, the variety in what was there showed you were thinking about how to get creative with the mechanics and test the player. I thought the theme could have been a little more tightly integrated, and would have appreciated some music with the game.

Thanks again!

papaya 2022-10-06 14:02

The platforming feel was nailed down! The level design was also interesting. However, I wish that Elos have a timer that shows me when it is gonna lunge, so that I can have some degree of counter play lol.

pbg 2022-10-06 14:18

Agree with @papaya - a visual cue for the Elos would be very helpful. Even so, I really enjoyed this - I love a good platforming challenge for LD, and the overall level design was very god here. I liked the little story elements as well - well presented. Nice job!

rob6566 2022-10-06 21:41

Nice game - loved the sounds (especially "landing") and the graphics. The controls I had a lot of trouble with the wall jump between vertical screens. This felt bad - as it was the screen switching that messed me up rather than the difficulty of the jump. It'd be good if the camera followed me rather than switching to a new scene. Otherwise, I loved this game. Good job putting it together in the limited time.

Nice and polished platformer. I like the graphics, and the sound effects add a nice touch to it. Running away from that Elos thing was an interesting challenge, but I got stuck in the screen @rob6566 posted too. Not only does the screen switching there make the already-difficult wall jumping even more difficult, but whenever I reached that screen Elos was just hovering around the exit chilling.

But before I got stuck, I had fun with it. Nice entry!
