I couldn't find any parts in the trash flotsam, but it was fun making the fish jump. Also the BGM is very catchy, good job.

It was fun I winned

alexander-epton 2022-10-05 00:51

this was awesome! come of the colliders were a little finicky?

confusedsoph 2022-10-05 00:52

I am in love with the derpy octopus. That is all.

zachary-shah 2022-10-05 01:16

Controls feel excellent. Wish it was a little harder, or certain things to avoid in water or on land. Also, the parts took a few seconds to register before they collected. Overall, really funny and smooth.

pyspher9 2022-10-06 03:15

Thanks for the feedback everyone! @zachary-shah, yeah we originally did want to add sharp trash in the water to dodge periodically to force you to go above water for a bit, but it fell into the stretch goals category.

chemicalcrux 2022-10-10 22:18

The controls feel pretty good (flopping around on land wasn't half bad, even). Sticking a few piles of trash together might've helped make it more challenging, since as-is, it's very difficult to get stuck on land for ten whole seconds!

A nice easy game, maybe kinda slow but sill enjoyable. :)

skullsprigs 2022-10-10 22:30

i winned! oh my god, this little game was delightful! the controls are so much fun and the art style is quite endearing. very cute :)

spoons 2022-10-10 22:31

very fun controls.

pyspher9 2022-10-12 03:28

@skullsprigs, Thanks for the feedback! We've been hearing about the controls and we're really glad to know that you and several others are enjoying! Also yay that you winned!

pyspher9 2022-10-12 03:30

@chemicalcrux, yeah I agree we could have made it a little harder to get back into the water, but we were lucky to not have our trash platforms floating off into space! haha

We'll keep the challenge in mind in the future. Thanks for playing!

ratrat44 2022-10-15 02:21

The graphics/sounds/music are good and my fish is floppy! The game is kinda easy but that is better than being too hard. Also solid story!

pyspher9 2022-10-17 16:49

Thanks @ratrat44! Yeah you're right, the game is kind of easy. IN the next jam we will probably be able to make the gameplay a little harder. We actually all learned Godot a few days before the jam started so we were still learning some things along the way. We'll work on the player experience for next time!

Really good entry :fish: It was fun and I liked the controls of the fish. It seems that the 10 seconds limit outside of water was a bit too easy.

druvsaft 2022-10-20 21:21

I winned! I like the cute sound effects and the graphics, it wasn't a very difficult game, mostly waiting for the parts to arrive, but a lot of the trash heaps were empty. Maybe something to do while waiting for the parts to appear would have been nice, using your acrobatics to do tricks perhaps!

bogden 2022-10-20 22:20

Love the physics controls y'all landed on. The art and audio are really awesome too!

From a gameplay perspective though, I think it would have been really interesting to use this same base to create a game based on fish acrobatics, rather than collecting some parts and delivering them to a single point. Like @druvsaft mentioned, the game is mostly just sitting around and waiting for parts to come by.

What you have is a fun physics simulation, but it just needs a layer of gameplay on top of that. Well done on the execution though!

Had a lot of fun with this!

Definitely the best part was the goofy aesthetic and the fun controls. The split between water and land movement was really fun and flavorful with the fish protagonist. The land movement was just frustrating enough to be hilarious, but the game was forgiving enough it didn't feel bad (I think with a more difficult game, it might feel worse to have such unpredictable movement). This kind of wacky, innovative game loop is *exactly* what game jams are for, and your team nailed it.

The art was enjoyable and goofy. I do think there are a couple areas for improvement for readability: - *Trash* - it would be nice if the collectibles stood out a bit from the rest of the trash heaps. - *Water/Land* - A clearer border between the water and air would have been nice. The splash noise when you returned to water helped a bit, but it would have been even nicer if you had another sound when leaving as well. Some particles or a different animation would make it even better, but obviously you have limited resources in 72 hours, so you can't get to everything. - *Drowning* - I think there could have been a better animation for the fish drowning --- dimming the entire screen looks a little too much like what my laptop does when it gets unplugged! If you're going to do a tint, it might be nice if it was a color rather than solid black, or a pattern like a vignette. Or you could do something fancy like a bubble that slowly empties, like the swimming UI in Windwaker.

The art for the fish and octopus was full of character and goofy. I loved the little sound effects when you picked stuff up and handed it off to the octopus.

The music was also well done, especially the "bass drop" where the other voices come in. There is a bit in the middle that gets a bit repetitive, especially after the first few loops, but definitely very solid work for a weekend jam!

I drew Floppy and added him to the fan art compilation on [my profile.](https://ldjam.com/users/jeremy-ryan/)

Nice work for 72 hours!

Loved this game! The controls were so odd, yet so fun! Great sounds, too!

stephen-kyranakis 2022-10-21 02:28

I loved this one! The wonky floppy fish physics was great, but the 10 second limit was forgiving enough that it always worked out okay. I also loved the cute art and the sound design. Excellent work!
