Really good for a Compo entry! Stop the lava from burning down all of your houses. Never could figure out what button 3 was used for, and my general inclination was to try to push the "tool" icons which would cause me to waste moves.

Yeah, I'm not sure what `3` is for either. A comment in the desc or in game would be useful. Otherwise, great game!

Fun little game, nice work :)

oneowerse 2022-04-05 05:01

The game has an excellent plot, and an excellent algorithm, probably Perlin Noise and with many math functions. in general, the game is super but it doesn't hurt to add a little humor

I didn't realize at first that I was trying to protect the lil houses, but the mood and music of the game was enjoyable enough that I didn't really mind! I would slap down a few walls to funnel the magma around, then chill and listen to the soundtrack! I love the vibes and the smooth aesthetic. ◊

This is a very creative entry and lots of fun to play! It's interesting to experiment with techniques and discovering details, like the fact that a wall's height depends on tile you start it on. I'm going to keep playing to try to beat my score!

@jonathan-ray-pollard @unitedfailures I added some info to the game, thanks for calling that out! "3" is ice for freezing the lava, it's rarely as good as a wall but it does have its place in certain circumstances. I would have loved to have had more time to balance it but too much ice can make the game run on infinitely so I had to scale it back.

@oneowerse that's right! Lots of overlapping and scaled Perlin Noise for the level generation. I started with just a bunch of random trig and noise but then I stumbled across Perlin Noise and was very happy for finding it. It really saved my bacon in my first ever 3D game!

That was good fun, I like the voxel design and layout.

very nice work. fun to experiment with, and the sound design really sets the mood

Neat visuals, made me think of creeper world somehow. My high-score for World 3- 4:06 by building a wall around the town and waiting

It's really nice to find games with so polished interface and controls like this one! Great job!

The chorus music was great too! If you keep working on this project, i can see a good game comming up soon!

liked the look and the camera felt good! Great job on submitting

@oliver-richmeier thanks! I figured the theme of the game was already dark enough so I tried to lighten the mood (though I'm not sure I managed to strike quite the right chord in the limited time...)!

@floatingvertex I can't deny, I love creeper world, a very happy comparison. Nice work, that's the highest score I've seen! :)

Nice one!

Love the style. I would love for some longer levels and perhaps some 'super' abilities!
