The screenshots for this look really cool but the link doesn't work?

Edit: Link working now :)

Very cool idea, it was interesting just watching the simulation run. I love the pixel art style of the graphics. My dams kept leaking, I had a hard time placing dams on slopes facing away from the camera I think. It would be really cool to have some sound effects added to help highlight when things are happening. Nice job. :)

@extar my bad, the link should end in swimcity-2000. I changed the name on itch after making the LD submission m(.

Well, I also fixed a crash on re-start this morning, so you couldn't have played anyway. And then I fixed a crash on start on Linux. Oh well. Now it should run.

Very nice throwback to the early games of city simulator graphcs, I really liked them. Pretty fun, especially I think for people that played those early titles.

Cool water simulation and great mood. Fairly simple game but I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy expanding my city and watching my cash money go up. Would be nice to play a post-jam version with more content at some point. I did find the isometric perspective a little confusing sometimes though, especially with the water simulation.

City sims are always a good time and this one was fun too. Really liked the isometric pixel style, great work!

This was an impressive simulation! It was engaging to play, and gave a theme appropriate spin to a classic game. Occasionally I found it difficultt to click specific obstructed squares, but that's a minor issue. Really liked the isometric style as well. Nice job!

Love the artstyle and the punny title made me chuckle.

Fun little game, I agree with baconinvader, would be fun to play a post-jam versionm with more content!

Nice work.

Loved the Sim City 2000 style graphics / interface . It took me a while to figure I could build more than Dams .

If you develop more post-compo, it'd be cool to have either the City build itself, and your focus be more on trying to contain nature,

I love the graphics style. it really looks amazing. However it did not seem to me that the water really had an impact. So flooded houses still "worked" i guess.

Its a really nice idea imho. I would really like to see it developed a bit further. You could for example add water damage etc.

I also have to say, for the limited time this game seems like A LOT. Well done.

Same as the others have mentioned; the art and overall style looks amazing, and the sense of foreboding as you see the water trickle around is a little scary. it creates a sense of urgency. There are a few little issues which made it not play out that well - for example, I had trouble placing residential or commercial zones on the bottom of the map, because it kept wanting to make connections to the dam on the top ?(maybe this was an issue of perspective, and I was clicking in the wrong place). Also, the lack of UI for things like time or tax made it had to plan anything out and to strategize. It was however still fun playing around in the setting.

Pretty impressive actually. Few bugs as others pointed out but I may have a bit of bias toward likely the game since City Simulators are sort of my favorite games. Overall rather good job!

Very impressive tech. I managed to make a 27 tile dam before I gave up :) Screenshot 2022-04-09 102502.png

Cool sim! I really like the idea with the rising water. My main gripe with regards to that though was the inability to destroy things like roads to build more dams. Everything must be a dam. And similarly, it would have been really nice to be able to rotate the perspective since stuff could occlude other things.

Hey man, it looks like a cool game to try, unfortunately I have a mac and I cannot play =/ Maybe if you have a web or mac build in the future, just let me know.

zimny11 2022-04-11 20:42

Impresive work! I love that you can build mutli-levels dams. Cool pixel art too!

blubberquark 2022-04-12 08:48

@edwingamedev M1 or Intel?

I grew up on Sim City, so when I saw your progress posts a while back, I knew I had to check this out!

I echo the statements made by a few others - the UI and camera perspective were the biggest obstacles. By the time I got into the rhythm of the game, I had sort of boxed myself in. It seemed like there would be plenty of room to grow, but due to the perspective I couldn't continue building roads on the backside of the mountains.

Still, I was proud of what I had made! Eventually my wall got high enough and I couldn't see my buildings anymore.

I would definitely be interested in playing a post-jam version of the game if you decide to continue with the idea.
