Definitely weighing as the biggest game I've played in the jam at just under 300mb. The jumping is very floaty and hard to control but I perservered and completed it anyway!

oof, super laggy for me I think it needs some more optimizations especially when it comes to memory usage, this game takes way too much memory even at the start, all in all I still enjoyed the idea and made it a few platforms away

ghatazorg 2021-10-05 14:12

Nice game ! but a little difficult to play

sloyka 2021-10-05 14:20

Nice one! Pretty sticky and the idea is interesting, but the jumping is hard to control.

100th-coin 2021-10-05 18:03

Wow that music slaps hard! What a bop. The gameplay is a lot of fun too, it's a bit floaty, but it's not too hard to get used too. I like all the 3d modeled you created! I think there should be a "you win" screen. I think maybe the chameleon was giving a thumbs up to indicate that I won the game, but a menu would be preferred. All around, great work!

As most people say in the revews, its clear that you guys put a lot of effort into the game, and i really like the chameleon mechanic but the jumping makes the game almost impossible to play. and sometimes you get confused with the colors in the bar (jumping into the next color instead of the actual color)

michelangelo 2021-10-05 20:34

Good idea for the core mechanic, but maybe you can add some side mechanics that play with the color changing of the chameleon, other than platforms.

It's really a world I've never seen before, quite special.

But the game is a bit too difficult, I feel that maybe it's because of the feel of the jump. It's a bit too slow to be up, resulting that it's really hard to control myself onto the Platform. The death penalty is also a bit heavier, at least at the beginning, there should be some chances of experimentation period in which I would not die.

All around, nice work!

raysi 2021-10-06 12:44

Hard to control. I got like 10 fps overall btw, it feels like there are some performance issues.

donatello 2021-10-06 16:17

I liked the idea at the core of the game and the background music was really relaxing and I found it a good accompaniment, there were some points though in which you were forced to die because the color change of the chameleon didn't match any of the reachable platforms and that was a little annoying, the jumping needs a little more tuning also. Nevertheless it's a good job given the limited time there was for developing.

Overall a cool idea. The finale and the general atmosphere smiled XD

A little at times infuriated the behavior of the lizard in terms of control. And so it was interesting to watch the completed version XD

substain 2021-10-07 12:17

so I am a lizard trying to jump between flying plates over the heads of huge wizards walking through a river of poison?

well, okay I guess

edoardo-talamini 2021-10-08 09:06

Oof, it runs awfully on my pc, to the point I cannot play it. too bad, seemed a fun premise to me :(

bloodycoin 2021-10-08 22:07

Interesting idea. Could be explored more by giving player more agency over what color comes next (or next after that). For example give a player a way to speed up or slow down color change.

Currently with random color change and as most mentioned above hard to control jumps, I spent most of my waiting for correct color to up next. Or falling down to to say `Hi` to supersized cultists enjoying their daily dose of acid bath. And then again, waiting for the correct color while prying that the next color after will also be one I need.

Also I am interested to hear what biggest challenges you faced while using `Unreal 5`, if you don't mind sharing.

stupidhobbit 2021-10-09 07:25

Thank you all guys for feedback. It was our first jam and the first game we ever made, so I guess it could be worse. We actually wanted to create another level, with nice environment, some writings and dialogs. Unfortunately, we were really short on time, so I had to make this level instead. Unreal Engine 5 is awesome, UI is much better, and there is a ton of new features. Although, it's quite unstable yet, and we faced a lot of crashes and bugs, so it's important to save as often as possible.

The lizard was a bit unruly at times and tended to 'slide' around a lot, also being unable to change the colors yourself as the player and having to wait was annoying at times (more specifically toward the end, when I kept getting a bad pattern that wouldn't even let me progress as it would tell me to go blue right after the red plate and you couldn't make that jump). BUT, regardless, I found it entertaining. It had a good bit of charm and the concept was a good one.
