is the.exe supposed to crash right away? "the code execution cannot proceed because libwinpthread-1.dll was not found"

pressstartearly 2021-10-05 20:56

Did you get it fixed?

suchista 2021-10-05 22:46

@whysguy52 @pressstartearly Hey guys, I added the dll to the zip folder, now the game runs on my other laptop, so it should be ok. The game itself isn't supposed to crash :) Now you can play it if you care enough.

Dang, couldn't beat it with my shooter brain. Game was really neat though, and Pathcloser was a really neat addition, played through that a couple times.

I enjoyed this a lot! The problem solving was pretty entertaining. I think I got myself a bit to shuffled to get it the first time, I'll dive in with a fresh run a bit later, but it'd be useful (though maybe too easy) to get a bit of feedback on why your progress was halted..

Woop!

Nice game :) One thing I will say is you should change your instructions. LPM and PPM mean nothing to most of us, although based on a [search result from reddit](https://old.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/3d761m/what_do_ppm_and_lpm_mean/) I guess it's left and right mouse in Polish? :p

suchista 2021-10-06 15:51

@binary-coder Thanks for playing and the feedback! Reporting about what part of the system failed really was on my high priority task list, but I just couldn't make it in time :(

alexofp 2021-10-06 15:54

The game worked for me! Did you make your own engine? It's quite impressive actually from the techical point. Couldn't figure out my objective exactly but tinkering with the filesystem was done on a solid level and the little game you included is very cute

zapdos2 2021-10-06 16:01

Sigma Rule #8928713: Give this game a 5/5.

Really cool idea, some classic Win95 sounds could have spiced it up a little more even. Could not beat it unfortunately, I only got the bar to about 2/3 and it seemed like I did everything I could do.

lucdeligne 2021-10-06 16:15

I have to say I felt kinda smart when I got that 'system is stable' msg at the end, even though the puzzles are actually quite simple. My favorite ones where the ones where you have to figure out the files' naming logic.

The visuals are quite good too! I wish there was some music too though.

This is a fun game but I'm struggling to fix anything beyond what's offered in the DOC, and in the Setup Error thing for the Anti virus. So yeaaaa. The art is nice, shame there isn't any audio but it is a fun experience. Maybe those with more braincells than me can enjoy this haha.

suchista 2021-10-06 16:23

@wheybags Oh sh*t, I completely forgot those were Polish abbreviations XD Thanks for pointing this out, I changed them in the description, too bad I can't do it in the game itself.

Congratulations on beating the game, you're the first person I know of who's managed to do that! :D

robbietaco 2021-10-10 16:05

Cool idea, I liked playing pathcloser. Well excecuted, but I wish there was some sick sfx to pull it all together.

justcallmebb 2021-10-12 02:14

So cool! Solving problems using a hypothetical operating system is surprisingly fun. The most obvious criticism (and the one people have already pointed out already) is the lack of audio. In a full release, I could see there being system sounds and maybe even the game's own mp3 player program with its own songs you can play in the background... but I can't blame you for not doing that in a game you made in under 72 hours :P Amazing work, keep it up!

got'em all!

I liked the puzzles, kudos for not handholding the player all the time - took me some time but I managed to figure out all of them. They also didn't require any external knowledge of cipher systems etc. - good job on nailing the difficulty level (at least for me!)

It felt like an OS-themed escape room - I would love to see some manifestations of the system instability like visual glitches!

Pathcloser was nice, not sure if that was one of the issues in the OS but I got the beta key anyway :D

I can imagine such a game being pushed further with windows 95 aesthetics and running in the browser (like WINDOWS93 website)

nice entry!

m1nus 2021-10-20 00:25

Wow this is a good entry! The mini game is indeed adorable!

nardandas 2021-10-20 03:14

Really cool! It felt really detective-like to me. Things were a bit cryptic sometimes, but I figured it out, so really no critique overall!

varundevs 2021-10-20 09:11

Pretty cool

thecritterscove 2021-10-21 17:11

Really intesting game concept! I had the progress bar over halfway. I kind of wonder if I screwed up something early on before I understood the controls. I'm not sure if it would dumb it down too much, but if the crash error said what folder was the culprit, that probably would help stragglers like me. Otherwise though I really enjoyed playing this game. It fit the theme well and it's well made. Nice job!

alchemic 2021-10-21 18:37

Fun experience, although the puzzles seemed a bit easy.
