The artwork looks very pretty!

I really enjoy the overall design of the game. The gameplay is nothing too advanced but still manages to be fun for a few minutes (which is perfect for a gamejam).

Really happy that you managed to finish, and I hope to see more from you in the future <3

Java had troubles launching this, had to build from sources. Liked the art of intro.

aaln 2021-10-05 17:25

@gdman I'm sorry. I was worried about the game being playable at all, and I was relieved it was. It's my first game so I don't know very much about optimisation (and make-it-works in general).

Nice game! I love the graphics style in this game; it really pulls everything together. Overall 8.5/10 nice job.

I really liked the chaotic and sketchy art style of this game, it helps a lot to the atmosphere.

I also really liked the graphics/art style of the game you put together. The sketchy handrawn aesthetic really helps to support the mood.

Sadly, both .exe and .jar file refuse to launch and give the same error:

profugo-barbatus 2021-10-11 01:50

Same error as Fabula there, s'not running even with an up to date Java install.

avi 2021-10-11 11:20

Uh oh... same error! would love to try it once its finished!

I am totally not sure what I just experienced :D

The artwork was very unique. The gameplay was not so great.

Interesting submission nevertheless!

it is rare to see pure java game, good old days...

to let people run java program correctly, you need to let people know the version they need

in this case **java 16 is required** (Oracle just provide java8 for free, so better use OpenJDK instead)

very cool art and funny story, good job!

@nekowei Thanks! When I learned about these errors I freaked out, because I was seeing the headache coming... I'm still afraid it doesn't work, since even if I copy your answer I'm not really aware of why, how, what happened. I'm also surprised because I think I downloaded Java 16 on Oracle for free... I must have forgotten. (By the way, how did you know the required version?) @fabula-rasa, @profugo-barbatus and @avi, does it work?

I'm a beginner, and when I began Java, I was seriously planning to make games with it. Then I learned it was not the most appropriate... this is why it's lagging. I guess I should move to another language, which can run on browser.

Thanks a lot!

zimny11 2021-10-18 15:20

I tried to run it, but I got the same error as others. I install some free Java version, but it did not help (I have zero experiance with Java). What a shame, because art style looks super interesting. Sorry :(

EDIT. Thanks for the link @runuchok. It helped.

The as I said, the art style is cool and unique. I wish there was more focus on the gameplay, but the story is nice. For example. Have a timer and depending on how many people you shoot, get a different ending. Anyway. Nice job with this game/story :)

runuchok 2021-10-18 15:36

https://www.oracle.com/java/technologies/downloads/#java16-windows Here's easy way to install JAVA 16 to play this game!

Graphics are unique and the story is fun, but there is lack of gameplay)) But still a good experience!

splitpainter 2021-10-21 14:23

Hahahaha I loved it. I love short narrative games like this, especially when it's so silly like this one. The way she loses her mind in the end made me laugh out loud. Kudos for going with your own way of expression and not following any conventional genre!

The only thing is that it was a bit annoying trying to run it: I installed OpenJDK then JRE and none worked. Then I followed @runuchok advice and it finally worked.

rengo 2021-10-21 17:42

i can't open the game. some java issue
