You added a great new take on the furnace-balance minigame. There's a furnace minigame in World of Warcraft and in Spiritfarer, so when they said the theme was "Unstable," I probably spent half an hour trying to figure out how to make a game where you're balancing out hot and cold to keep a sweet-spot, but I didn't feel I had anything new to add to the mechanics of the game.

But you've taken it to a place I never would have expected, and I feel like my mind is learning to conceptualize atomic particles better.

I like the idea and realization. Nuclear unstability, I hadn't though nor seen in my previous test, so I give high rating for innovation. I died in an overheating event. The only downside is that I didn't feel really in control over a trackpad ;)

Visually pleasing game. Great audio as well. Straight into the action which is always good for a LD game, however I felt that in this case it almost would have been better to slow things down a bit as there was a lot to learn all at once and I didn't feel that much in control as a result. Felt a little bit like button spamming in a fighting game that you don't know that well.

I happen to like button spamming though! :D

Great game, much more strategy than it seems.

mrchickenboy 2021-10-05 05:42

ohhh I like this game! It's very pleasing to look at, and I LOVE the music! The idea is simple enough but there is too much on screen. Some sort of calm progression and a tutorial would help. Good job! :)

Cool feel to the game, did I spot a three-frame animation on the atoms? It's a fun aesthetic in any case. Music is spot on. Like mentioned before, some progression levels would probably improve the user experience. But that's for later, LD is all about prototyping :)

This fits the theme really well! I loved the increasing chaos, and the animations and sound are great. I couldn't remember what all of the atom types did just from reading the menu screen, so it took a while to figure out how to actually play the game *well* rather than just making more fun explosions, but I found it extremely satisfying even when I failed!

The sloppy style is kinda cool... reminds me of Rugrats or something. You should have made the writing in that style, too.

aymarx 2021-10-07 08:22

Trying to do something with atoms and collisions was also one of my first ideas when I learned about the theme. Glad I didn't choose to go with it since I couldn't have made something this cool haha. Great job!

I love the music and visuals pretty good. The gameplay idea is okay, but it feels like I don't do much and what I do, do not change much.

This is suuuuper fun!!!!! I didn't really know how to stop my cooling atoms from exploding into heating atoms though and always just die in a nuclear meltdown :p

Thanks for your nice comment on our game by the way!

georgy16 2021-10-07 19:55

The game is interesting, though there is a feeling that no matter what I do, the game state will be hot.

pixelstuff 2021-10-07 20:28

Interesting game but I din't really get how to play and just the balance :/ The music is amazing!

alexsolonnikovp4 2021-10-07 21:08

This game reminded me of a chemistry lesson.Well done and goes well with the theme!

maus-games 2021-10-07 21:29

It was a bit confusing at first with all the rules, but after some tries I got the hang of it. Good work.

crotonyl-alcohol 2021-10-08 00:56

Nice idea! However I could not find a way to cool it down.

uppitydonkey57 2021-10-08 15:10

I'm not completely sure what just happened but it looked cool and was fun.

vodzik 2021-10-16 17:56

Very fun game :)

ava-skoog 2021-10-19 16:41

Cool concept with nice animations and sounds, but hard! 😅 Keeping all those rules in my head in the midst of it all is tough. Maybe fewer types would have been better, at least early on in the game? Polished presentation, good use of the theme, just not entirely sold on the actual gameplay as-is, but well made with potential!
