I thought the tractor beam control was inventive and really fun to use.

Very interesting concept!

Hello, fellow Rustacean :crab:

I tried to build your game from sources, it starts fine but crashes after mouse cursor enters game window, look like this issue https://github.com/amethyst/amethyst/issues/2569

The tractor beam really was fun to use. The game does a good job establishing its core mechanic and giving you a chance to figure it out.

It would have been cool to have ship upgrades or to be able to switch out ships to increase speed or have a stronger tractor beam, but if you included those features, I didn't get to them.

I think the concept stands well on its own and I enjoyed playing it. Thanks for sharing!

The tractor beam is really intuitive and collecting all that stuff is quite fun. The tutorial messages did a good job explaining just enough to figure the rest out on my own. Well done!

Very nice made simple game. In general it gives an Asteroids vibe but with good tutorials.

I liked how the tractor beam worked. It was an interesting choice to make the four corners that indicate a material dropzone also collidable. It was frustrating when either my ship or my asteroids got stuck on them. Otherwise, this was an neat take on a top-down space.

Cool game! I like the controls and the beam system. At first I was kind of lost because I rotated when discovering the controls dragging asteroids and only later I randomly found the dropzone. Good job, and props for using Rust for the compo!

Nice game! It took me a little while before I got that colliding certain asteroids had special effects.

It wasn't very obvious that the tractor beam is activated by the mouse. I see now that there's a little icon indicating it, but it really didn't look like a mouse to me. Fun to use once I figured it out, though

It's a cool mechanic! It felt cool when I realized I should pull in my asteroids before rotating the camera. The game is really stylish too. A little bare once I've cleared out a bunch of asteroid, but the tractor beam effect really pops compared to the rest of things.

I really liked playing with tractor beam and being an asteroid collector or whoever I was

I AM THE KINETIC ENTERPRENEUR

When I saw the title "Kinetic Space Mining" I clicked immiediatly and was not dissapointed. At the beginning I thought it is a simple minigame where I have to smash the asteroids together, but I was baffled as my job was simply to deliver them to the marked zone? This can't be it, can it?

AND IT WAS NOT WHAT HAS AWAITED ME WAS A COSMIC CAPITALIST ADVENTURE WHERE I WILL GET TO SMASH ASTEROIDS, BOMBS, ACID, VARIOUS ELEMENTS AND MORE TO ACQUIRE RESOURCES

Nice, deep gameplay coming from combining a few sweet, enjoyable to use elements such as the tractor beam, "easy" spaceship movement (that breaks for you and does not conserve the momentum as in space, that would be hella more difficult to play) and nice physics. I enjoyed flying around and trying to fulfill the level's requirements, and when I couldn't, I could always haul more generic asteroids to at least get some money for refuelling.

It took me a moment to realize I had to click on the level info to get the neccessary information, maybe auto pop-up when starting the level would solve that?

I like the various stage select and "the unknown" feel when venturing forth. My biggest catch was the MEGALITH ACID zone where I was supposed to clean the debris but couldn't figure it out so I just delivered a lot of acid and other things for a lot of $$$

I love the fact that the game saves and I can go back to my ENTERPRISE in the future. Graphics are also nice and clean, have a consistent style and all small pixel-particle effects help a lot to make it more enjoyable.

Music gets old really fast, but I can easily play deep space ambient on my own to get in the mood. I would love to see some nice pixel-stars in the background with a parallax effect to feel more space feels.

All done in 48hours in compo mode, with Rust! Super impressive - didn't know about Amethyst beforehand

kudos, solid entry, enjoyed it a lot :muscle:

Missing a minimap or something to get the orientation!

dingledorf 2021-10-21 03:56

Really cool, and I'm a huge fan of the fact that you used Rust (I wouldn't have noticed that if another commenter hadn't pointed it out though haha). The game feels mechanically polished, and the music, while very simple, actually works incredibly well for creating the mood. Well done!
