The mood is pretty well done and the overall feeling is nice. P.S. for your webgl build try to export the game with the compression disabled in the player options from the builds settings

saltysa 2021-10-05 16:42

The game is really pretty and I love the ambiance!

substain 2021-10-05 16:45

I feel like the jumps were a bit too difficult. At least I got to the second level :)

fluffygamedev 2021-10-05 16:56

Awesome game! The platforming was a bit frustrating at times but I was surprised (in a good way) how huge the game world is. good job!

By the way, for last LD, I encountered the same issue with infinite loading on itch.io. Perhaps this can help: https://itch.io/t/919456/game-not-loading.

curleyrach 2021-10-05 17:32

Nice art style and fun to play through.

thomas-causetti 2021-10-05 20:09

Thanks for the advice and the comments, now we fixed the webGL version!

thevinter 2021-10-05 21:47

Thanks for the feedback. Sadly fixing the jumping accuracy is something harder than it looks so it would require a major patch, something we feel we shouldn't add to the game after the submission phase.

@substain you did better than most people! Maybe consider finishing it, you're close and it saves your progress!

tekk 2021-10-05 21:51

Yea i liked the style aswell, especially the glitch effect. it think it wouldnt be that hard if you maybe implement a little noob support by still letting the player jump even if he/she left the platform already.

drew-dailey 2021-10-05 21:51

Really well done presentation and I had a blast with the game

geckoo1337 2021-10-05 21:52

Interesting platform game. However there is a problem with the player's collider which is a little bit disturbing so as to jump. The mood is good - and I like the minimalist aesthetic. It could be improved, but in less than a few days you did a solid entry. Overall, a good entry ++

fre 2021-10-05 22:03

Hey, well done, this is a super polished entry!

Same as others have commented before, I feel like the platformer difficulty took something away from the experience. I stopped playing after a couple minutes trying to execute the same jump over and over again after pressing a lever, trying to get past a hill. I have nothing against hard games, but with so many games to play and rate, I'd like be able to experience the core idea fully within a few minutes, and it felt like I missed out a bit.

My suggestion for fixing the jump accuracy:

- Keep track of a "last ground collision time" - Allow jumps up to 0.1s or 0.25s after the last ground collision, even if you started falling off a platform.

This helps perceive jump timing as more fair.

Tiny suggestion for audio: the mood was perfect, but with little particle effects under the character's feet, I feel like I would have loved to hear tiny footsteps.

Overall, really high quality with this one, just wished I had managed to see all of it.

dannyk1994 2021-10-05 22:38

Played this on stream was fun! Jumping mechanic just need a little tweaking and maybe some indications for how to deal with enemies. Was fun game! And as promised I will post my screenshot of me finishing it tomorrow haha :D

gamebuilder 2021-10-05 23:57

A tough platformer that is beyond my ability. But the graphics and music in this game are outstanding. Very impressive. Rarely do I see a game this beautiful. I just wish it was less difficult. But I loved what I saw. Great job.

thevinter 2021-10-06 18:02

@substain @fluffygamedev @tekk @geckoo1337 @fre @dannyk1994 @gamebuilder Thanks for the feedback. I'm sure you have other games to play and we really appreciate you giving our game a go, but we fixed the jump in the WebGL version (and in the windows one). There is still the pre-fix version up but if you wish to finish the game now and experience everything there is then it should be way less frustrating and way more fun. Thanks!

mmisspelling 2021-10-06 18:37

C00l ga_me!! The glitchy parts are the ones I liked the most, especially those at the beginning; it's a nice take on the theme. The new version with the fixed jump worked fine and I'm pretty sure I reached the ending. I'd also say that the animations were very polished and the pixel art style looks good (maybe there could have been some more details in the background but, of course, it's still a jam game so time is limited). One super small thing I'd like to say is that the animation when you hit an enemy confused me, because the main character flashes red and it looks like he just took damage.

iradchenua 2021-10-06 20:19

Nice platformer, mysterious atmoshpere it looks like a lot of human builded content in short time. Cool:)

tekk 2021-10-06 20:36

that version is so much smoother ! thanks for @ me :D i had really fun jumping through the content :) i found some cheese location that was great!

bajtix 2021-10-06 22:00

Loved the glitching effects and the artwork in general. The music also sets a very nice mood. There were some issues with the collisions and damage - i think the lives should be clearly displayed. Had some fun, nice game!

betamorfosis 2021-10-06 22:29

Great entry, managed to finish it, Really enjoyed the end and the entire thing to be fair. Quite a nice platformer, glad I didn't rage quited before the end cause it was worth the ride :)

morepixels 2021-10-07 07:09

Fun game but really difficult!

sherwood 2021-10-07 07:49

Very cool oniric and mysterious mood ! I am not really in that type of games but it sure gives me a desire to finish it. Solid entry. Plus, the physic seems well polished honestly.

joshua-jebadurai 2021-10-07 07:57

The shader looks dope. Fun but damn it's hard.

dinwy 2021-10-07 08:08

Good work! Nice art work and mood. But the game is too hard to play to me :(

miltonnh25 2021-10-07 08:38

Good job on the game. The aesthetic and mood was well done and there were some pretty cool glitchy effects. The platforming felt a little bit rough but was still fun and challenging without being too difficult to progress. I also really like the robot dropping out of the ceiling. I am not sure if the bios error screen was the end but I was not able to continue after it. One aspect that felt a bit annoying were the lasers that flicker on and off. I felt like I spent a lot of time just waiting for them to turn off and I died a few times due to jumping into the laser as it was flashing thinking it had turned off. Also there is a bug where you can sometimes scale some vertical walls by jumping against them over and over that allows you to skip sections of the platforming. Overall though, it was a fun experience . Well done.

tomssuli 2021-10-07 20:29

I think I got to the end to the MALDUNCTION and stuff, but was this supposed to happen or did the game really crash right before it ended? Clipboard01.png

tomssuli 2021-10-07 20:38

Anyway, nice take on unstability with the glitches. We went with similar stuff in the end phase of our game. I liked the soundscape and mood overall and Pixelart was good.

Also I'm a fan of nails hard platforming so when I read in the comments that it's a hard platformer, I couldn't resist and wasn't disappointed. Controls were pretty solid and jump challenges were nice. Could have had more moves but it was good as it was.

The game was clearly about exploring it yourself but there could also have been some pointers which way is the main route. The transitions were a little confusing, for a couple of times I thought I died and almost quit the game. I also didn't find a health indicator and it was at times unclear to me did I take damage when jumping on enemies or not.

Decent game overall, thanks for the challenge! 😊

thevinter 2021-10-07 21:44

@miltonnh25 Yes, we agree that the lasers are frustrating and easily the worst part of the game. Yes the error screen at the end is the end. If you play the windows version it crashes the game. Thanks for the feedback.

@tomssuli No, that's the end. I agree it could've been explained a bit better but we were short on time. If you play the windows version it actually crashes the game. The main problem with the jumping on enemies is the fact that their hitboxes are a bit wonky so sometimes you take damage even if you're not supposed to. Thanks for playing it and glad you finished and liked it ^^

Also thanks to everyone else that commented and played it!

tattomoosa 2021-10-07 22:12

Bold move to make a game that plays at being broken in a game jam lol. The graphics and sound were really nice.

Could really use responsive jump height, I think that would make it a lot easier control. The top of the jump could stand to have a little bit of float to it too.

I got pretty frustrated underground trying to jump on a tiny platform before realizing you can skip it if you follow the elevator platform all the way up. Not sure if that was intentional but it sure was helpful. I still got way too frustrated with the little hallway right after that, try as I might I could not jump over the first enemy, let alone both of them. After 15 tries I gave up, sorry.

sharks 2021-10-07 22:29

Mood was awesome and I can really, really, dig that art style! Super polished environment but unfortunately the controls didn't feel as polished. Movement from side to side is pretty jarring. Another thing that is tough is the enemies are not properly introduced. The first time I saw the 'glitch ball' things I thought they might be a new super power. Some of the other enemies I still don't understand how they work, do I take damage on contact do they shoot projectiles at me? Overall you could've introduced the player to these enemies faster. Checkpoints seemed to be placed at good locations and there was a decent mix of hard/difficult parts and it was rewarding to get by but still very frustrating, thus pacing could've been a bit better eg time in between the harder jumps/platforming sections.

kr4ft3r 2021-10-07 22:39

I actually don't like hard platformers but your blog post sold it to me anyway. While it does get quite hard as levels progress, the control responsiveness and block spacing makes it the smoothest platformer I tried so far in this jam, so it is hard but not for wrong reasons.

What I liked from the start was that there is only one button (apart from movement keys), so when the "I" key turned out to not work it was actually a relief. And loved the graphics of course.

purrseus 2021-10-09 14:05

This game has an amazingly thick atmosphere! I loved exploring it.

zsharpfire 2021-10-17 20:43

A really nice game, the movements are smooth and feel good to play with, the design of the map is optimal and the SFXs are ok ( the jump sound feels a bit out of touch from the game ), Good job overall!

Keep it up!

st00nsa 2021-10-18 00:06

Love this feel of unstable glitchy world. This mood is something!
