Well a very original idea... loved the bubblewrap-like popping although my mouse probably didn't ;) Unfortunately the game softlocked for me after fighting the red-eyed ... thing (almost fell off my chair BTW). I think with more content (gear icons? depth map?) and variety of encounters it could be a very interesting experience. A bit sad I didn't get to solve the mystery!

@mausimus Thanks for making me aware of that issue, and I appreciate the feedback! I didn't have enough time to add everything I wanted, but it is nice to hear that the concept is sound :)

Pretty cool game. Loved the bubble popping thing but I didn't quite like the fact that there was an order to them and a delay before you could pop each. I got my game softlocked at the bottom of the lake and had to Alt+f4. It's quite a lovely game despite those tiny problems and I congratulate you for making it!

I really like the mood you created in this game! I definitely felt quite anxious as I went deeper and deeper. I struggled a bit with the bubble popping - it felt like I wasn't clicking in the right place to pop the bubbles, but I liked how frantic it felt trying to pop all those bubbles before the timer ran out. Good game! :)

This game had me really engaged for how simple it was. The bubble popping mechanic was a bit annoying because the bubbles didn't always seem to highlight in the best way. Perhaps if two bubbles are on top of each other it would be best to prioritize the one furthest to the left? Also it would be good to communicate that the bubbles should be popped left to right.

However the above advice might not apply if you were going for a horror game of sorts which it kind of felt like. The awkward bubble popping mechanic really added to the stress of the final encounter with the man at the bottom of the lake, so good job if that's what you were going for.

Overall a very engaging and enjoyable story game. Great work

Really interesting game. It seems to be more oriented on memory than skill - there is no obvoius order for bubbles - sometimes You start from the left, sometimes from the right.

You did a very good job with the mood. I liked the bubble minigame + narrative format. The bubbles were a good difficulty, but I made it through. I really enjoyed this.

I am a pro player in popping bubbles! good job!

@iaandrei @ayxh @scowling-pastry @mariszin Duly noted - the bubbles are definitely the appendix of this operation. But thank you for taking the time to leave feedback!

Popping bubbles is now my favorite pasttime

ghubert 2021-05-01 17:04

The mood is great.

Man this is good, got me hooked to the end. The repeated slow descent and resurface made for a great balance of tension and relief. Really glad I found this gem, great work!

That was such a cool experience. This is exactly the kind of game I love to find in a jam. You managed to build an atmosphere that is both relaxing and unsettling. The art was simple but effective, the sound design was perfect.

2 minor things that I think could be improved: - Sometimes the bubbles overlap, and they are a bit hard to click. I think the layer order of the bubbles should be the same as the order in which you have to click them (as in the first bubble should be on top of the second, the second on top of the third, etc.). That way they won't block each other. - When I completed the game, it closed right when I reached the last dialogue, and I didn't have time to read it (I was pressing space to skip). I can imagine why you did that, but maybe leaving it for 2-3 seconds works too.

Good game, thank you for making this. Keep it up!

Interesting game. I really liked the atmosphere, particularly towards the end. I think the bubble popping challenges were neat but could have been a little easier. Some extra items might also have been cool. Overall though great job.

Creepy little last battle. If you decide to improve upon it I would add some more little mini games besides just the clicking. Overall though, good job

congusbongus 2021-05-05 11:12

Great use of the theme to build up to something really moody. The ambient sound effects were great.

ansh-mishra 2021-05-05 13:00

Cool idea. It was really interesting to see those encounters. Bubble popping was fun until eels, timing on eels part is quite unforgiving, and damn my finger hurts after final encounter, I failed twice on it. Other than that there is depth meter issue, % usage is kinda misleading, as it felt when I had nothing I dived faster(100%-90%), after equipment it was slower(100%-95%), if i am right, you wanted to have it show that player is diving more? Other than that pretty cool experience. Sound was good, art was also quite good. Pretty cool experience overall.

dan-mcalister 2021-05-08 19:40

Really interesting, I dig the narrative and atmosphere! That last bubble puzzle felt especially frantic and effective, like trying to untie a knot on an unforgiving timer, really well done. Loved the sound effects on the bubbles.

My only piece of feedback is the controls. The dive/approach/resurface commands all prompt the player to use letter keys, so when the first bubble puzzle started I didn't realize I needed to use the mouse, which created some uncertainty. I think the mouse input options could be a little more clearly communicated to the player, but it's a nitpick in an interesting experience. Great work!

I like the atmosphere and art in this game. I like popping bubbles. Overall a great job.

shigor 2021-05-12 21:38

In future, please think about us who can read faster than slowly talking man - it's really annoying waiting for letters to slowly show up - and skipping means you'll miss the text (the ideal imo, if you insist on slowly typed text, is to use first skip to display all text)
