very easy, but very exciting
I really liked the 3d light mixed with the 2d sprites look. Very nice work :)
The theme is well respected I guess :p, at the beginning I had quite the same idea ! The game is basic but good enough, it was fun !
I love the light effects and the arts BTW ! :D
The sharks really got me, several times... but in the end i made it.
Great job!
Love the lighting, the only thing that bums me out is the sound. Little ambiance would make this really moody.
Pros: I found controls very satisfying! Near misses on 2nd jellyfish minefield are most fun part!
Cons: Deepfish enemies (With lightbulbs) are practically easiest part. I want more challenge on deep levels when only source of light is your torch!
I know that as I review more games I'll probably eventually get tired of the spooky deep sea lighting, but it hasn't happened yet. Looks great, and the difficulty level was good for the I'll-play-briefly-but-I-have-lots-of-other-games-to-get-to setting of Ludum Dare.
light rendering looks nice. The first wave of octobuses are still easy, but i always hit the 2nd wave and died to it...
The camera would randomly stutter, but this was a minor issue. Overall the game looked pretty great! I wish there was some sound to go with everything, it would really enhance the experience.
A game I could complete! Really liked the lighting effects. Makes the game very moody, Good job.
Definetly a solid entry! The lighting works great for the ambience! One suggestion would be that the second swarm of jellyfish seems quite dense and difficult to maneuver for the 3rd encounter, and some ambient sound could improve the experience. Other than that, good job!
Like everybody else has been saying, the lighting is cool. Having it get darker as you go further down feels pretty nice. I think the mechanics could have been more interesting/varied, but this is a nice entry.
Could be harder, but at least your game is fair :D Love the feel of deep!
This was a fun little experience! The effect of everything getting darker as you go down is very nice. Love it. As pointed out earlier the game could have been a bit harder, but I played it in one go to the end and really had fun this way. Perfect for a jam in my Opinion. The graphics are really nice (especially the ligth and darkness effects) and the movement is also solid. On thing that would improve the game a lot would be a little animation for the sharks and the diver. Espacially the static sharks stand out. Everything else is fine. But I know that we all run out of time. Hope my feedback helps!
A great experience, took a few tries to get to the bottom! A bit of music or sound effects would definitely improve this game in the mood category.
Nice and Fun. Damn the abyss feels claustrophobic ! :) loved the graphics too very nice
Bon premier jeu!
Thanks for the hearts!
I got the heart! You did a nice job, not the most creative interpretation of the theme but I still enjoyed it! Had fun dodging the red sharks and the lanternfish, and the effect of the depths getting darker and darker really added to the mood and sense of progression.
The controls are feel really satisfying and responsive, I liked the jellyfish parts parts especially and the gradual shift to complete black gets a little terrifying (some appropriate music would have done wonders for the atmosphere). At one point I never saw the shark but he passed in front of the light of an angler fish so you could see his silhouette which adds to the terror factor :scream:
Solid compo entry!
I liked the play with light and darkness and the stretching animation of the jellyfish :) ...some sounds or music might have built the mood even further.
Simple, little game that works fairly well for what it tries to be!
The sprites are quite nice, but what I liked most graphically were the light effects. Those luminescent fishes in the deeper areas are super good-looking!
Controls felt really good. I was expecting a simple 8-direction control scheme, but what you did here worked better for your game.
The second "barrier" of jellyfishes was quite a challenge. Took me several attempts to cross it.
In summary, quite nice for a game with such small scope. You should be happy with the results, indeed!
