Really nice intro and prologue, builds a good atmosphere.
Well done (goed gedaan!) I liked how the formations group. Line of sight was forgiving. Nice. Didn't got the theme-idea though.
interesting take on the theme! it's a pretty impressive thing to show for 48 hours. the only thing that bored me a little was how slow the player character moved/interacted - the controls and movement speed could've been tighter and faster - but otherwise good job!
@incal Thanks :)
@mdotedot Thanks, yeah I kind of went too deep during the brainstorming. (pun intended) My train of thought: Deeper and deeper -> deep in enemy lines -> the patriot (the movie) -> Belgian version of the patriot :D True I will broaden it a then I think. It's allowed right?
@ty Thanks for the feedback didn't occur to me. Good to know.
Nice execution! I'm really impressed that you could do this in only two days! Congratulations.
Wonderful idea! New type of strategy game. It is a future! But I think. Enemies can be cleverer =)
@rouge-dragon yes It was actually a gamble. When I started I didn't think I was going to finish in time :D @sharkmax218 Haha imagine, yes I agree they should :)
Really nice prologue ! a lot of work here ! The ennemis are not really smart, and if you go around them with you sword, it is really easy, but overall, very nice !
As a Dutch person this was a surprising entry, lol.
I love the system, it's so funny
I really love the idea, it was pretty fun running around sniping the Dutch with my Belgian soldiers. However, I wish the aiming mechanic was a bit more intuitive because it took me some trial and error to figure out how to shoot. I still have no idea how to make my soldiers actually aim at the enemy and not just accidentally shoot one another. I love the friendly fire mechanic, that's always funny :P
@hilkojj haha you can try finishing the game without shooting any dutch soldier :) Haven't tested it but should be totally possible.
@towergame thanks for the feedback. Yeah it is true I will look in to it. :)
Vive la Belgique! I'm French but I still got a kick out of this game for it's historical context. The gameplay idea of aiming and firing the muskets of the company is really neat. I liked that sense of chaos when you just charge into an enemy or when your own guys kill each other with their bullets. I finished the game but it was a bit long, in the second level the amount of enemies killed didn't update for me but it turned out fine. Word to players; you can fire multiple times like it's a machine gun but do it at your own risk .
@sevkron good to hear you had fun :) Thanks for the tip, I will check it out.
Very original, i didnt expect to find a history related game. Its a cool interpretation of the theme
Nice atmosphere and intro! I could not manage to save everyone as on my macbook somewhy the aiming and shooting didn't work. The graphics is not the best, but you successfully created a good mood! Well done!
You guys nailed everything. Good job.
I've been to Leuven! Amazing amount of work for a short jam. I was impressed by the behaviour of the battalion forming up around you. Satisfying lock n load sounds made for a good bad-guy-slaughtering experience. I made it out of the first section with only 3 soldiers though! Music was repetitive unfortunately, but hey - 48 hours! Great work overall. :)
Oof I got lost in the map, and didn't make it past the first level :(
Wow a game with historical backstory! That's pretty rare in a game jam. It was a very ambitious game to build in such a short time but the fundamentals are there. It was good fun charging into enemies and cutting them down then commanding your troops to capture points. For me the audio was a bit glitchy (could have been a web build issue, maybe). Overall, good job!
Loved the history! Very rare to see a game with that. I also found the fighting mechanics to be very unique and quite enjoyable. Maybe it's just me because I'm not familiar with this genre, but definitey was quite a cool and fun experience. As others have mentioned the audio was a bit rough and I do wish there was more polish at times (particles, screenshake, animations, etc.), but all that is the labor intensive part and tough to get done in such a short amount of time. Overall great job, this game is dope!
Nice gameplay, those shooting mechanics were a first to me, nicely found. I love your low poly assets and town design, i didn't need more ;) Also good work to describe how to play the game, well done!
Hey, a game about my beloved country that is immediately AZERTY-compatible AND made in godot! I had a lot of fun but not in the way the game intended it; I went in solo, swinging my blade like a madman and used the dutchmen's shots against their own troops (and their tents) to great effect. It was, in fact, incomparably stronger than playing it safe and slow with my troops.
The scope of your game is impressive, three whole levels, a small ai, a tutorial, two cutscenes, and all that in 48 hours! Damn!
Imo, it would have worked just as well if you had only made one single level and used that freed up time to polish your game more, balance it better and make longer BGM (the small loop gets old really quickly, especially for such a long game!). Still congrats for making such a big game, dikkenek move!
@talops Yeah that is good advice. I also realized this afterwards... Next time more focus on gameplay less on quantity. Yeah I really should learn how to make some simple songs :)
