IS it possible to get a Windows link? ALso the dowloaded link was fully empty is it normal?

shyrro 2020-10-07 09:27

Don't have a mac either and would love to play the game. Can you also maybe add some screenshots to see what we're up to at least?

tex-killer 2020-10-07 13:58

I'm sorry, I was very tired at the end of this LD and didn't notice that the upload had failed. It is fixed now.

The game was developed in Unity3D. I will generate builds for the other platforms but didn't have time for that yet. I'm at work now but I'll try to do that later tonight.

When I manage to upload a Windows version I'll be sure to let you both know. Thank you very much for the interest in our game! :D

walaber 2020-10-10 03:55

very difficult to select the track sections, which made the otherwise very interesting concept a bit too frustrating to work with.

fronwewq 2020-10-10 04:01

I was able to play the Windows link. Very neat concept! Haven't played something like this before. It felt pretty difficult, but maybe I'm just not good at judging relative speeds. I wish there more levels, especially a slower introduction with easier challenges to get the hang of things, but I also can imagine how hard it is to level design for this kind of game. The two levels were pretty interesting, so I bet if you had more time it could really flourish. Good work!

tex-killer 2020-10-10 05:14

Thank you guys for playing!

@walaber, selecting track sections is really not ideal, but we didn't have time to make it any better. I did just find a bug that affected some screen resolutions and fixed it though, so it might behave a little better now if it was happening to you.

@fronwewq, thanks! Those two levels were all we could do during the Jam, like you probably guessed. We might release a post jam version with more levels later on. :)

gameag 2020-10-10 07:56

Cool concept, but i think controls are not the best: - you have to replace everything each time even if it was just a single point of failure - sometimes wrong part of the track gets selected - is there an official way to close the game?

swynfel 2020-10-10 08:14

Nice little game! It was a great concept of a physics-based puzzle game.

I played it without reading the description beforehand, but I still managed to understand what to do and how to place tracks after a minute or two, which is a sign the gameplay was clear. :)

The physics and the sound effects made the experience pretty pleasant: you could really “hear” the cart’s speed on the tracks.

I agree with both fronwewq’s points: It was sometimes a little difficult to guess what the speed of the cart would be at certain positions, and that more levels would have been great. In the two levels, you managed to have a good variety in the level and their solutions. Thus, it isn't really a problem here, but if you want to expand the game with more level, you probably should add a little more variety: multiple carts? other placeable objects? real-time actions while play?

Also, when restarting the level, your tracks are reset. Although it might be useful in some cases, I think it would be better to leave them placed by default. For example, in the second level I already knew were to place the two first tracks, but needed a lot trial-and-error to find the correct last acceleration (I probably had to re-place them 4~5 times). It probably would have been more difficult (if I guess correctly, the current solution reloads the scene when clicking on reset, so it also resets the placement), but I still think it would make find the solution smoother.

Anyway, great job to you three, and good luck for your next jams!

tex-killer 2020-10-10 19:08

Thank you both for the great and detailed feedback! :D

@gameag: I was on such a rush by the end of the Jam that I just reloaded the scene on the restart button to get it working in time. The selection of track segments was also a little wonky, but I didn't try to improve it and instead focused on finishing the other parts of the game so it would be at least playable. Everything was such a rush, so I guess the official way to close the game for now is pressing Alt+F4, haha

@swynfel: We did plan on having different kinds of track modifications, like this spring thingy (illustrated by Lucas): jump_spring.png

We also planned on having different cart heads, like those (also illustrated by Lucas): WhatsApp Image 2020-10-05 at 11.38.20.jpeg WhatsApp Image 2020-10-05 at 11.50.40.jpeg

This was supposed to be attached to the head cart as a chain of carts, but there was no time left to add it to the game (3D model by Marcos): WhatsApp Image 2020-10-03 at 11.44.25.jpeg

Anyway, many ideas, not much time. Maybe we can add everything else in a post jam version!

aduro 2020-10-11 12:39

Cool concept, but the game itself is really hard because controls are really weird.

antihedra 2020-10-12 12:24

The second puzzle was really interesting, I'd like to see more. As it's already been pointed out the raycasting is a bit weird, and the perspective can be a little confusing. Great job!

capt-theo 2020-10-12 21:12

I've enjoyed this little game, took me couple of attempts to beat 2nd level. Nice work.

peterfonts 2020-10-14 14:18

Great game with a robust idea and concept! Well done! I think you can improve better that the signals are interactable, and when you select one signal, the cursor can change, with that, the players know what is their current option. Meanwhile, I was playing I was considering use the signals in real-time, but I can't... so it will be great to put switch off the options at this moment of the game. The levels are clever... like a 3D puzzle, no words. It's an amazing game! Congrats!

kutarta 2020-10-14 14:22

Love the concept, but still has some flaws. Would love to see this fully developed

tex-killer 2020-10-15 01:06

Thank you for playing! :D

@peterfonts: Ideally that would be the way to choose the track modification, especially when we build a mobile version, but there was no time to implement it, and since there were only two modifications I just went with left/right mouse buttons. Regarding placing modifications while the cart is moving, that was how it was working at first, but then the game became way too easy since one modification could be removed and used again whenever necessary. The player wouldn't have to plan the right placements beforehand and it would be almost impossible to fail.

digital-bacon 2020-10-16 21:34

Fun little game. Great work!

alexascher 2020-10-18 11:44

Train go CHOOO CHOOOO fun game, definitely something that could be made into full mobile title with success, with additional levels, mechanics, and more polished graphics

doot 2020-10-18 17:42

Nice one!

I love the idea. The track looks fine, the controls are easy. Nice job on the train sounds too! Too bad you couldn't do more levels and polish it a bit more!

Thanks for the game 💕

daitli 2020-10-21 22:59

A very solid idea I enjoyed this very much. The only thing I disliked was the fact the 2nd level was incredibly hard in comparison to the first level, nevertheless a very solid submission and very creative as well, fits the theme pretty well in my opinion!

akai-0okami 2020-10-24 16:58

Really great concept! The game itself could be executed a little better though. Sometimes the game would select a different track to what you clicked on. The second level felt a bit too much difficult than the first. The graphics and audio is really good. It was also kinda funny to just make the cart fly off the tracks. Good job!

pedrocoden 2020-10-27 15:51

Nice game!

zoomer 2020-10-27 19:48

This is so much fun. The audio of the bus rolling over the tracks is pretty satisfying too. Really like the concept, well done

tex-killer 2020-10-27 19:59

Thank all of you guys and gals for playing our game! It was fun making the game, and it was also fun playing the amazing games from the other people in LD47.

I hope to see all of you again next time! :D
