nice game, was also thinking "train" when I saw the theme reveal :P
It was a cool game, I like solving puzzles, so Ive played it in high spirits
@jonah thanks for pointing that out. Looks like the CPUParticles2D used by Godot doesn't work on the browser reliably. I've disabled the particle effects when the loco crashes, which now allows the game to continue as usual.
This game is extremely enjoyable. I like the combination of interesting puzzles, multiple solutions, and time pressure. The graphics are cute, I like the sounds and I haven't encountered any bugs or other problems so far (except a missing space in the "How to Play" section. Not important, just in case you didn't notice.) Overall really cool :-)
This is really fun! It's more akin to a maze game with time constraints, but it was pretty unique in its own way and I liked solving these! Good job!
I wish the engine faced up/down though. :')
I liked the concept and gameplay of the game, and the sound effects were nice. It was very fun, though I didn't really see how the game fit in with the theme. Great job, though!
Love the feel of the game! Quick puzzles combined with some nice sound effects are always a good result! If you do decide to build on it later, a more focused camera would be great.
Very fun game. Love the feeling of fixing the track just before the train goes through it .
I think the idea here works. Some tweaks I would make would be to allow the player to right click a tile to cycle through track pieces in reverse, and maybe add some UI that appears when you hover over a piece of the track that displays each new piece the player would lay down if they pressed left or right mouse button. Overall though, nice job!
Fun game! I loved making looping tracks to change into another track, feel like this could have been more utilized! The level count is perfect.
@reallyqbert I used CPUParticles2D in my game too and the browser build works fine... are you sure that's the problem?
Pretty good I cleared it! nice Idea, works well, a bit annoying there's no visual of piece order, but you figure it out throughs (numerous) deaths. Well done.
@fupi pretty sure, because the game worked as soon as I disabled it. The exact point of crash happens when I call' emitting = true' on it in the code. Maybe it's some specific property in the particle effects system that's not working on the browser? I'm not sure, I'll test it some more and see if I can pin-point it.
We came up with a pretty similar idea that's funny  Pleasant little game. Clever gameplay. simple and intuitive controls.
Good job
I completed the whole game! Once I realized I could just purposefully create a loop where the train can stay while completing the rest of the screen at my own pace, the puzzles became sadly trivial and all the same difficulty. Maybe a way around this would be to force the player to use certain segments of the track, have certain segments have a fixed alignment so they can't be changed, or have the train stop at certain sections in a particular order. The train soundtrack also often goes silent before continuing again ... might need to update the audio to remove a section of silence, in order to create a more seamless ... loop. Well done!
@carraka Thanks. Yeah, I was wondering how long before someone figured out that trick. lol Your idea of forcing the player to stick to some segments is a neat one. Might try that once the jam is over. I actually wanted to limit the track options as well like only N changes per level or X subset of tracks per level. Maybe even random events that changed track conditions. Thanks for pointing out the audio issue - I added the audio at the last minute and never fully checked it!
Good One
More fun than expected ! Here are some ideas that may or may not be interesting: - have the track piece sequence displayed - restrict some tiles to specific choices - no track piece choice but rotations only
Impressive graphics and style!
really funny game - with several possible solutions :D
A sweet setting and theme, but surprisingly adrenaline inducing! Franticly clicking as the train gets closer to cycle through the pieces and OH NO I went past the one I wanted CLICKCLICKCLCKLCKCLCKLKKLKLKL YHES! Okay next piece wait where does this train need to go?! over there, over here, up there okay CLICKCLICKCLICK... I enjoyed it!
Cool game! Different images when the train is moving up and down would be nice. Good job. :train:
Felt really weird to have a "Quit" button at the end of every level. Feels not that challenging because every tile is "swappable". Sound is a bit too loud too. I still finished it, so it's fun still !
Cool game, my only issue with it was the sounds were a little grating
this was a fun little game! i think the difficulty ramped up super hard in the final levels. it seemed like there's no room for error, and i have to play perfectly or i lose. one thing to improve would be to find a softer middleground for difficulty.
i think the art is cute. i was expecting there to be more loops, but i mostly just crashed a lot.
Love it! I was thinking of doing a train game too, so I'm glad to see this. I like the sounds and the tension of trying to fix tracks before the loco gets there. My main wish is that you have a couple of seconds to click tracks before the engine starts. The 3rd level really had me stuck. Nice entry! :)
So, a lot has been said already, but one thing I don't think has been mentioned: I really loved that there were so many potential solutions for some of the levels (especially the later ones). It meant that on some of the later levels, I could choose to really challenge myself and try for a quicker ending or go at a little slower pace and take the longer ways around. Loved that piece of design there.
That was fun, more! If you wanna work on it more, I'd love to have right-clicking to rotate the track backwards and a sped up train after a valid route was created. Good Job!
