I liked the art and the idea :v:
super cute! Love the art and the audio is cute too
Art looks great, cute sounds and a great idea... Took me a while to understand how to escape. I tried and failed!
Great art!!!
Hey, so... Feedback:
To be honest, nicely done! Audiovisuals are great. It's simple and has an explanation of the controls, which is always welcomed. The only thing I would add to the explanation is that the effect of the stored energy is exponential or whatever formula you are using. Took me a bit to figure out I had to pass through multiple nodes to get higher.
Personally, I think this is a fine addition to the jam.
@northman64 Thanks alot! After some playtesting with friends i understand that i would need some explanation about that the energy curve is indeed exponential-ish :) Nice job figure it out!
@bigbadollie Thanks alot :D Nice going understanding how to escape! It's tricky
Hi! I loved the idea behind the game! It was really addictive to play, and I must have gone through it about 25+ times xD The concept of storing the energy is a really cool one and gives your game a really unique mechanic!
Some things i picked up on that could be improved on: If you hit the last red energy, you lose your stored energy, and then if you get the last blue energy ,you get a bit of energy. However, that energy is not enough to take you back up to the penultimate blue energy. Therefore, you cant really recover yourself, even though there is a blue energy there. Perhaps an easy fix to this would be to add a second blue next to it? Or perhaps increase the length that specific blue energy field sends you up.
Other than that, I really enjoyed playing the game! Well done!
@peteh Thanks for the awesome review, man! Makes me proud :D Glad you liked it!
I hear you, i actually didnt think to do much about it. I thought that if the player is that low they would want to replay or die and start over. But maybe that's the wrong aproach. The player perhaps wants to fight even harder at that point if they know they can actually make it from there. Good point! And making a bigger energy or put 2 easy ones at the bottom should solve that, as you suggest. I'm glad you took the time :) I'm guessing i can't do those fixes now (first time, don't really understand the rules yet) but If i refine it into a "polished version" i will for sure put this in, aswell with a "fuel meter" to visualize the stored energies exponential power.
Thanks!
Hi @dakke ! Glad you appreciated the feedback! First timer eh? Same! I managed to finish all my homework due today on friday night (i am 14 and go to school), and then just spend the weekend working on my submission. Anyway, as I said before, really liked the game so good job!
Very nice effects and fun game! :)
Really clever idea and I can see how this can be super addicting! I gotta say the "constellation" trailing effect is a really cool detail. Good work!
Very nice art style and game concept was easy to play, could use some background music but overall quite good
Smooth movement, lovely sound effects, and great visuals! The flow of the game feels great - I'd definitely play a full on game like this. Also, how did I get past the black hole?
The game looks great and game concept is really cool. It took me a few deaths, but then I figured out how to store the energy. And as mentioned above, the game is very addictive.
Nicely executed idea. When I understood the mechanic behind it it got really interesting and made me want to climb higher and higher. I also like the art and sound. Nice entry
The visual effect is pretty good, the game mechanism is simple and clear. My suggestion is if there is some suitable musics, it will be more energetic
Couldn't really get into it. Graphics look really good.
Interesting concept! I like the visual style—the sort of tangly designs are really unusual. The gameplay feels a little unforgiving: there’s a point at which you can get to the bottom and keep jumping up and falling through the same blue energy thing, unable to progress any further. Some way to either save yourself or eventually fail would help. Overall, though, good work.
@thundersalt Thank you very much for the awesome words! It was fun creating that particle effect :D
@shortbread Thanks alot! Yes, music was something i tried to add but i never got to make it any good. Added an ambience sound that i liked but feels like i left it on too low volume :) But music is definitely something i want to add to a polished version!
@halfboltgames That is awesome that you think so! Thanks for the kind words :) Unfortunately, if the player dont have more than 1 boost when reaching the bottom they player is doomed to fail/die. This is a critique i got and i have ideas to atleast give the player a fighting chance if they reach the bottom without boost. But for now, reset and try get 4-5 or more energies and jump!
@dmitrygalias Thank you again :) And good that it took a few deaths :D That gives the game more value. And it's an awesome feeling when you discover what to do and then do it :D Greatly appreciate it!
@meek-bits That is awesome! :D Just as i want it to be played. I hope you managed to get all the way? :) Thank you very much for the fine words!
@meowmeowlitclub Glad to hear you liked it! :) Music is definitely on the todo-list for the polished version :D I have an idea of either increasing tempo the lower/higher you are or adding more instruments the higher you are.
@josephdevelops Thank you! :) And you were quite tired when you tried the game. But you did find that bug that noone needs to know about! haha ;) It's on my todo now, thanks for taking the time!
@mahalis Hey and thank you for the kind words! I think i'm in love with the particle system and will probably do a game with out particles xD Is that wrong?
I hear you, the bottom is quite unforgiving. I have had some feedback on that and have some idéas on how to change it for the polished version. You bring up a point that might become a mechanic "eventually fail" but for the bottom i think it will be some kind of added energy at just the right height to give the player a chance to work their way up again.
Thank you again!
I just wanna say a few words if any feedbacker is coming back to read. I were not ready for all this positive feedback you are giving me! Really heartwarming and super cool! I'm really glad so many liked it. And all the feedback I've been getting is really good and will be an experience i take to both the polished version and to my next projects.
I will be trying all you guys games out as soon as i get time. Good thing we have quite a few days to do it! Thanks again, what an experience!
Liked the concept, nice visuals and sound as well. I would have liked the hitbox for the blue energy to be a bigger and the red a bit smaller, I sometimes flew past the blue thinking I should have hit it. I could see this being a fun mobile game if you polish it some more, maybe add a few more levels with different visual styles. Keep up the good work.
@nohac Thank you very much, sir! I will consider this about the hitboxes when i refine the game. I don't want it to be too easy :) But the player shouldnt feel tricked either.
Cool! That's the best critique there is! :D
Nice little "arcade-puzzle" game, I escaped by going outside of the games bounds :) Great idea and nicely executed.
This was really fun, I love the visuals and gameplay, the sounds were a nice touch too. Fit the theme very well, and created a good atmosphere. It took me a while to figure out how to progress, collecting more and more blue energy before boosting. It presented some interesting choices, about whether I should go for the jump now, or risk trying to get more.
One critique is that I couldn't tell if there was any kind of end-goal, or if I'm just going to endlessly jump up.
Interesting take on this theme!
The game seems interesting with the energy to keep and use to jump, but I find the control a bit slippery. Difficult to react quickly while falling down. In I was not able to make big jumps (I read the comments to understand the mechanic, and it seems that the energy is exponential but I didn't feel it) Anyway, I'm perhaps too bad to play it...sorry.
