I loved how you created the mood with that minimalist design. Cool!

A small masterpiece! I really enjoyed this new experience. I never thought a text horror would work, instead this game thanks to the amazing music and some strange/disturbing videos does its job!

skelleroznik 2020-10-05 18:08

Very interesting and deep story. It sets you in a right mood straight away. That's what every horror game should do. I like it!

mycosil 2020-10-05 18:31

Rich story, but it's difficult to know where on the storyline you are exactly. Excelent use of graphics and music!

doctormozart 2020-10-05 22:44

This was beautiful and terrifying, an uncomfortable realism for anyone who's found themselves spiraling out at different points in their life. I found myself wishing I could write in the margins at times.

The soundscape and imagery was very powerful as well, there is just so much good here. Well done. :heartbeat:

Definitely heavy on the mood! Really enjoyed seeing this pan out. Super eery and definitely had me spooked. Great entry!

Really moody game, quite frightening but in an elegant and restrained way. I found myself swallowed by the narrative, even though I rarely get into games like this. The writing is excellent here and just pulled me in. The choice based aspect of it, I didn't quite get, my choices were random and incoherent and the narrative's connection to reality was difficult to see, so my choices were weightless. It felt more like I was in an eternal torment, with thoughts repeating and merging and eating each other with no end in sight. It's like being stuck in a daydream after a bad day. Very interesting take on the theme and I am quite surprised by the length of this work.

Games with dense stories are difficult, your game has a great atmosphere, great mood! Thank you for making this game.

ellladee 2020-10-08 09:16

It's so deep and atmospheric. Thank you for this game, hope you'll be in top

desertmaw 2020-10-08 09:17

I really like the atmosphere and the visuals. Good job

toccio94 2020-10-08 13:14

The game wasn't really for me (too much to read), and I just started skipping to see if there was something extra, so I didn't vote all the categories. Mood and audio was good tho.

Good job on finishing a game. It did feel a bit repetitive, with the same things being told again and again, but when it comes to these 'artsy' games (meant in a good way :-) ) I'm probably a bit low brow. I don't know if the choices had any impact, but if they did, I loved how you implemented them, although I wouldn't necessarily know what my choices mattered, but maybe some subconscious decision? I think the atmosphere was great, and it I loved how you found a different take on the text based genre.

Good job, and thanks for sharing :-)

Very interesting entry, excellent writing in particular.

khaotom 2020-10-12 17:57

Very nice presentation, I found the words pretty random but interesting in their structure. I really liked the atmosphere of the audio and video too.

theseller 2020-10-12 18:07

Atmosphere and visuals are great, sometimes the writing just felt like you used the first word in the thesaurus, making it a little hard to understand what you mean at some points! Great experience overall.

jam373 2020-10-12 21:26

Wow that's excellent! Never seen poetry used to tell a horror game story! Really powerful use of words. The visuals were outstanding, so surreal and unsettling but abstract enough to allow the words and the players imagination to fill in the gaps. I've gotta ask how they were done! Would love to learn how to apply similar visual effects in my own work.

The audio was a perfect accompaniment with great variety too to lead us into new scenes. Really chilling stuff. I've been listening to dark ambient music recently so to hear some put to such great purpose was a real treat.

Thematically this is right up my street too. This kind of horror is few and far between and it's always such intense inspiration. I won't make a fool of myself by trying to explain what I thought it was about, but it really lingered. Honestly one of my favourite entries so far. I'll be on the look out for anything else you folk make!

@jam373 we primarily used a program called Gifkr to distort source footage using a variety of effects—we then turned those videos into compressed looping gifs that cue based on the passage the player is in! And thanks 💕

Awesome artistic game. Good job! The writing is really good and goes very well with the graphics. The mood is excellent thanks to well made audio. GJ!
