Nice Twine game! I'm glad there was some emergency tinkering I could do when the stitches were running low, I was worried that random luck was going to ruin me (since it seems like the daily event is random?). Is there a good ending?

ayushka 2020-04-21 18:35

Yes, they are random and yes, there is a happy ending! :)

Was sometimes difficult to get the last stat up to 15 but nice writing!

Very interesting genre of game. I've never played a game like that before. I think it was pretty well done. I had fun.

rplnt 2020-04-22 08:43

I won! Few more choices would make it more interesting and maybe quicker as some events were only about luck and I had no input. I would like to see the change to previous day as it is not always clear what had changed by what amount (and that could help with strategy).

Either way, it kept me engaged long enough for me to win, and it was so close a few times I just had to keep going. Nice entry overall, the text effects helped the mood a lot.

Real cool game and real cood ideas ! Keep up the great work, i'd love to see more of these

Interesting, definetely more unique approach to text games. I liked the special effects on text like thunderstorm.

kuiefs 2020-04-26 21:12

The special styling on the text was a really good touch. Normally I get kind of bored of text games immediately but that + your engaging writing kept me in there. I wasn't sure what the goal was though and I got stuck in a loop of text so I stopped before getting to the end. Maybe some way of not showing the same text again and again (for example I had the tv several times where it said oh you've discovered the tv) that didn't make sense to see a second time.

Nice game, but would have been nice to have a picture of uwu (yes, I named my monster uwu) at the end

eduardogacn 2020-04-29 00:22

really interesting game

Nice job! I love the small but impactful text animations. It really adds a lot to the experience.

I really enjoyed the text's flavoring. The expressiveness that it provides definitely has a lot of potential, and I'd love to see how you did it. :) I wish that I could have gotten to the end. I kept looking for hidden buttons and such, but perhaps I just needed to be a bit more patient. If you were to expand upon this, I'd recommend varying the day-to-day text more or just having it be random surrounding a framework of ordered KEY events. That, combined with tracking when certain events have already occurred (as @kuiefs mentioned) to prevent them from happening again (or happening again in the same way, at least), could really up the immersiveness that is your game's strongest and most uniquely executed element.

ayushka 2020-05-04 17:55

Yes, you're both right about the repetitiveness. But I'm a real beginner to "programming", like really level 1 of a million and I was already sooo lost and entangled in all those "ifs" and "thens" and "ors" and further expanding and tracking of the events was beyond me. Maybe next time!

Nice game :).. i love the concept and the great learning curve (learning by doing). Maybe it would be nice to have some more overall indication where you are in the greater picture of the story. So for example if I know that the repetitions will last for x rounds or that I'm moving forward in the story, I get really interested in what's happening next. Great job anyway! Had a lot of fun.

andidebob 2020-05-07 12:57

A cool little game unfortunately the randomness is very noticable for the events. I had stitches affection and inteligence all above 25 and I just could not get a thunderstorm to recharge my energy. It is a really nice read and the effects on the text are a nice addition. Add some more variety to the story and maybe ensure that some events don't happen twice or three times in a row and you will end up with a really nice game. Well done!

quack-doctor 2020-05-07 13:47

It was an intriguing concept, I enjoyed the game and played a couple of times (first time my monster died oh no). I think more event variety would help, more player choices and maybe after certain events, an event that would push the progress the story would make it more fun!

I like how you made html with different effects. Cool text keep monster alive game.

My first run I had two virgins blood followed by a TV and died to 0 intelligence :(

Second run I was able to figure out roughly what the options would do by trial and error and so was able to survive a while, but I felt like I was shifting stats around more than increasing stats. The emergency X actually seemed really good for giving overall +stats, but it was hard to safely trigger them. I eventually died because I tried to hide under the bed and I was too big :P

I didn't like that some events had no choice involved, so it just depends on RNG for whether it happens and how it affects me.

Visual effects on the text were pretty cool

My favorite monster is grendel, maybe it's a little naive but Beowulf is one of my favorite poems. Does anyone else remember this? If not, I advise you to refresh this poem in my memory, read some papers on it https://studydriver.com/grendel-essay/. I would really like if someone created a game with such a monster, it would be very interesting for me to play.
