It was definitely lovely wandering around the landscape
Felt nice to wander around the terrain.
Wonderful game, nice atmosphere, great graphics and audio, very moody, smooth gameplay.
Lovely style! Hope you had fun experimenting :)
Love the graphics. It was indeed a beautiful place to walk around. Love what you did there. Nice render like this in a game are difficult to make, good job !
It is a great feeling you are generating! I love the vibe of some kind of alien planet with red earth and red cube trees. You certainly made me try procedural level generation in the next few days. Was it hard to learn? Did you follow a tutorial for the world generation? Any tipps would be greatly appreciated. <3
I loved this game, it has good graphics.
Great example on how a few assets used correctly can create an awesome world to explore. Nice project!1.png
@misterg420 Thanks! I have to say I don't even know where I learnt all of it. There are some cool tutorials by Sebatian Lague, but I just viewed them to see how he did things. I just try things and see what happens, that's how I work
Unfortunatelly i had problems with the framerate, I think you could have done something with the performance, maybe an options menu. Because mixed with my high mouse sensitivity it made the game hardly playable. But I'm impressed by the procedually generated world and really had fun exploring things and there was quite enough stuff to explore for a long time. I don't see how it fits the theme, but I think you really did a great job on the audio. The sound from the cube did almost sound like music in my ears, like in zelda oots inside deku tree theme. And OMG the visuals! Great job in those to0!
@johannimations Thanks for the kind words and the feedback. There are some options when it comes to performace. You can toggle the vignette, Ambient Occlusion and decrease Bloom. Could you tell me what your specs are?
really nice atmosphere! love the graphics
Sorry but thats too high for my technological ability XD Don't even know what you're speaking of. All i know is that I played your game on a shity small old lenovo laptop, so maybe the performance problems where on my account. I must have overseen the performance options.
Hope I could help a little bit.
Really was looking forward to playing this, as I am very impressed with the striking visual design. Unfortunately when I launched the game it immediately crashed to desktop, and then wouldn't launch again (kept getting error messages - no game). I then deleted the folder, re-downloaded the game, extracted it again and tried again, same problem. I was using the Windows build of the game if that helps. Let me know if you get a fix out, I'd still like to review your game!
Loved the graphics and the atmosphere, you really made a nice little world with a few assets! Although, it could have been cool to have another side objective besides collecting orbs and making the cube survive, or something like a constraint to have a bit more difficulty ! But it's just a though, and it would have been hard to do only by yourself... Congrats for your great work!
Love the game! Just a quick tip - mark the platforms for the itch.io downloads, so they can be installed via the itch desktop app. Some people might be using the app, and may not play if they can't install it.
Thanks all! @historymaker118 Not really sure what happened there. I have tested both games before I uploaded them to itch.io and also 5 minutes ago, no problems. Could you tell me the error message it tells you? Than I can try and find a fix for it. @alex-davies Ah thanks for the remark. I did that with the previous version, but as you can read [here](https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/the-cube/new-update), I have updated the game with 1 line of code and forgot the tick the boxes, my bad
Just realized you can prop-boost yourself to fly :P. Kinda fun but kinda broken. (Prop-boosting is dropping and grabbing props (items) inside yourself to get the collision system to move yourself upwards)
@alex-davies Haha, nice find. Didn't even realize such a thing could happen. This is a nice example that there is a need to test your game with the audience when you want to release it. Let's keep it in as emergent gameplay
What a little gamejam gem you've got there! (pun bad but intended) So unique! First of all, the obvious - I really liked your Art/Leven esign/Mood Style which I would describe as "Polished Minecraft clone, but not really". The controls feel like Minecraft which is great because a lot of games have the weakness that their specific controls can kind of kill the fun at first, with your game you immediately know whats going on controller wise. I have to admit I didn't really have a clue what to do for a good 2 minutes but that didn't stop me from stumbling and jumping around and adore the stunning world you created! The gameplay feels very minimalistic and not very punishing and together with the atmosphere and mood it gave me a serious Journey vibe, which I really enjoyed :) Maybe add an indicator of the health of the cube on the top of the screen? It's kind of inconvenient to have to drop the cube to be able to do that, also mayb you could add mechanics where you have to use the cube to progress, for example if you'd need it to open doors/areas, defeat foes or something, so you have more reason WHY you're carrying it arund (other than, you know, keeping it alive ^^) All in all it was really enjoyable and great, I can also imagine this being superfun with controller support! :D
Thanks for the response Itch.io and for uploading the Mac version. On my computer the security settings will not allow the app to open since the app is not registered with Apple. I did just check out your video, which documents the game really well and coveys the experience fully. I think the visual design is great, and the colors and shapes evoke a strong sense of an other-worldly atmosphere. One suggestion is to adjust the players camera settings to give it a bit of buffer in the movement. The set up now (as seen in the video) has a hard-edged stop-start motion when you look around. Great work.
This game got a good amount of polish, good job on that. The command animation that appears when you move the camera in the direction of an intractable object is a nice touch. The overall game is very satisfying to look at. Even though you didn't expand on the main mechanic I think that the world you created and the experiment you did with the HD pipeline was definitely worthwhile. I enjoyed it, well done!
Cool game! The aesthetic was very unified and the procedural generation was a lot of fun to explore.
Great visuals, love the smoothness of the world. Would have loved a little more gameplay, but that was not the stated goal. Very solid for a weekends work!
