How has this game not gotten any reviews yet?!? One of the best submissions I've played. I love the art, reminds me of Don't Starve. The gameplay mechanic is wonderful.

Couple of pieces of feedback: - Occasionally, the right arm gets stuck and won't move when i press the 'D' key. Things still get collected but the animation may have broken. - For future iterations, you can make variants of this mechanic and ship it as a full game :)

Well done! Y'all should be proud of this one.

Fun game! I love your art style!

petrifiedapple 2020-04-21 02:35

I appreciate your use of Godot

welby 2020-04-21 02:38

Had a funny turtle art asset, so I had to give it a go. Really funny premise!

decappoolla 2020-04-21 02:56

Art is interesting. The music sounds very fun, like a circus, and I thought we were talking about alien monsters conquering!

Why our mother can take log, shoes and even rubbish bins, while she cannot take a tyre?

And I realize that in the last two levels there are chances that I do everything right but still fail. It feels bad when I have to depend on luck.

Great job overall!

maxter10001 2020-04-21 03:02

Glad you're using Godot! Simple but fun gameplay. The art is really good too! Did you make it?

wareya 2020-04-21 03:04

good art and theme

gameplay gets tedious fast, given that each stage is 90 seconds long and the same thing repeats

boxedmeatrevolution 2020-04-21 03:43

The human race has been extinguished and our glorious mother can finally rest.

The levels were a bit long, and the rng wasn't super fair near the end (we played the last level many times perfectly before it finally let us win). However, the art is top-notch!

hangarter 2020-04-21 19:46

Lovely art by the screenshots, I don't have access to a computer though, any chance of a html build?

nuckelavee13 2020-04-21 20:54

What a game! I do really like the style! It's very fun to play, however, the levels are bit long.

First of all! THE MUSIC! It's really nice, I started to swing my head when I started listening to it!. The rest is also beautiful! Art is amazing, gameplay, everything! Good job. May I ask.... The animations are so smooth, how you did that? The aliens walk so smoothly, I would love to know how you did the animations!

Wow there's some good stuff here! High points for me were the art style and music which both worked well together. Kinda reminded me of some old flash games. The gameplay was pretty simple but worked well. The claws were generous enough that I pretty consistently felt that if I missed it was my own fault. However, one real complaint I do have is that by level 5, due to the randomness of which objects spawned it was possible to still lose even when playing perfectly. Caused me to have to restart that level several times which was kind of annoying.

That being said, the other levels played great and the introduction of the "fake" objects was really nice (my favorite was the nuke pig :stuck_out_tongue: ). Ironically though, it actually started to get a bit easier as it went on due to the fact that you could mentally block out a higher percentage of objects. If I could make a suggestion, it would be to add more difficulty through the speed of the objects and less through the percentage of fakes once it makes it to approximately 50% so as to not accidentally reduce the amount you need to concentrate. That would also help with my problem of losing despite playing perfectly.

All things considered, I'd say this was a pretty solid entry. Well done.

THE TURTLE IS SO SAD

soyrandom 2020-04-22 02:34

Hi guys, i finally have time to answer some comments :) 1- @alphabetasoup Thanks!! Mmm, i couldn't reproduce that bug, but i'll check it! 2- @lvl76blastoise thanks, we appreciate you liked! 3- @welby thank :) *not real turtles were harmed, we love em* 4- @decappoolla Yeah, i noticed that, the rng i coded was a bit rushed, we started the jam a bit late and i had to study, work and do other stuff, so i really didn't have time to play it, i'll try to make it bit easier 5- @maxter10001 Yes, my artist did, all from scratch in flash 6- @wareya Thanks for playing! we didn't have enough time for polishing the gameplay sadly :c 7- @boxedmeatrevolution Thanks a lot! 8- @hangarter Nope, sorry! Godot's html export is not that good yet 9- @nuckelavee13 Thanks for playing! Tbh we didn't have time to play it so i just randomly put 90 seconds 10- @feh all the animations were made in flash, then exported as sprites 11- @guitarbro ding ding ding! Yep, the art was made in flash, my artist and me are flash users (in my case ex-user) we used to develop games in it. All the art an animations were made in flash 12- @ladmiester read answer number 3 :)

guitarbro 2020-04-22 02:36

Hah, guess I'm pretty good at guessing, eh? :stuck_out_tongue: It works though.

greendinogames 2020-04-22 09:38

Awesome game. The artwork and music are really cool. Sometimes one of the arms wasn't moving anymore, but fortunately just one at the time, so I could still make it through the level.

lt-farfetchd 2020-04-22 10:18

Hey @soyrandom - not sure if it's just on my end, but I can't get the MacOS build to run. I just get a "The application can't be opened" error. :sob:

welliton 2020-04-22 13:29

I loved the art and concept here. These damm humans, sending dogs with TNT, bad specie. I liked the gameplay at all, but at some point, even when I avoided everything bad (toxic trash can, encapsuled pig, tnt dog, and tires), i lost :/ i dont know if it's a random choice, but thats what i felt. Great game!

uberardy 2020-04-23 00:19

Love the art style! Simple concept yet a lot of fun to play. The sound effects and music are quite nice as well. I think I would have liked the waves to maybe be a bit shorter

coleslaughter 2020-04-25 00:39

Now _this_ is a game with a lot of personality! :) Visually, there's a lot going on here, which I really like. It's impressive what y'all were able to pump out in just a short weekend!

Although the mechanics were simple, they certainly did their job, and it was kind of zen going back and forth looking for things to eat. :) The rounds could probably stand to be about half the length they are now, I think, but that's a minor criticism in an otherwise fun experience!

tyler-anders 2020-04-25 06:01

The art and music were top notch! Pretty fun gameplay. Waves were a bit long. Really strong entry, keep up the good work.

khaoz-fang 2020-04-25 06:22

The art style is cool!

florianb 2020-04-25 14:57

Lovely art style and music, fun gameplay too! I just couldn't reach the end of the game as no matter how hard I tried I couldn't complete the last level.

jimbly 2020-04-25 15:58

Great game! I felt the timing on the grabbers were spot on - a bit forgiving, but when I went early enough that I knew I was too early, I never had enough time to do a second one and catch it, so that felt just right. It would have been really nice to have a bit of "perfect/excellent/good" kind of scoring whenever you grabbed something, kind of like a rhythm game.

I could not beat the (seemed like last?) level. I played 7 perfect games in which there was just not enough stuff to keep it alive. I also played a few non-perfect games that were maybe going fine until I ate a bomb ^_^. If the earth is invaded by aliens, they will be defeated by our poor use of PRNGs.

trexxak 2020-04-26 18:24

phew, that artstyle tho! Really strong Darkest Dungeon vibes going on there (which is very good thing in my book!)

I really liked the trash-variants of nutrition and got tricked into going for it a few times :D

Fun game! Really appreciate the efforts that went into the aesthetics!
