Enjoyed! Didn't like that the mouse wheel scrolled my screen with the game :( but it didn't stop me from enjoying!
Was bit tricky to keep the game window centered in the browser but managed okay. Nice design, couldn't seem to figure out what the satalites and rockets were for but fun game!
Fun little game. I liked having to manage my rapidly deteriorating defenses. Never figured out what the satellites or rockets did.
I like the concept, I like defend games and this is the first one here I've played.
Mouse wheel might not be the most intuitive control. Not only does it scroll the webpage up and down and deterioriates the experience, it also isn't the most obvious way to control the game. I personally didn't read your page and assumed the instructions would be in-game. I read the in-game ABOUT page in the end but there is no back button to exit the ABOUT page and I had to refresh.
I think there's some kind of progression system with the coins but I always lost so I never got to explore that, and I also couldn't really figure out how to play the game correctly as I always die, which is a waste as it looked like I could purchase upgrades. I think the first stage (if there are stages?) should be easier, else it is demoralizing to keep facing defeat. I wasn't sure if I was supposed to destroy my shields or not, and since the large rocks destroy an entire shield, it feels like it's unavoidable that the shields will all be eventually destroyed in time.
The satellite was quite distracting at the start of the game. Before I knew about the mouse wheel, I kept trying to click it. I think the game could get rid of certain elements to keep it clearer at the start so I know what I'm supposed to be focusing on, what I need to look at and what I need to pay attention to. Some explanation in-game definitely will help, as most people will hit the PLAY button first before they click ABOUT. The UI is the most well done part of this game and I liked that the game had a very consistent style in its visuals from the Earth to the UI. It looks very complete.
Overall good job on the game!
Fun game, and I like the arcadey style design. (i love arcade games!) the control scheme for keyboard is very fun, and mouse would probably be fine if it wasn't for the page scrolling. Personally, if this had more content I could see this being a real game. nice work.
@yyz thanks for the feedback. i did not realize it was so hard to play with the mouse wheel on the page? i will be making a standalone windows/mac/linux build tonight that will help with that. some of the features of the game did not get added like the satellites shooting lasers and being able to shoot rockets fdrom your ship. i also planned on other things like aliens and monsters coming as well. if i get enough good feedback i might add that. thanks again.
@paulhocker I personally prefer if the controls were Q and E to rotate. Personally, I find standalone builds may seem to help but standalone builds are more disruptive to play since it requires a download so I mostly prefer to play the games with web versions when a game offers that and not bother with standalone. I suppose the option can help people who don't mind downloading.
Ah I see. I understand what you were going for now with the satellites so it's great effort nonetheless. Great job once again! :)
Edit: Ah thanks, I didn't know I could use W/S and A/D
@yyz just a reminder that you can use W/S for fast rotation and A/D for fine rotation
I loved the mechanic of the game with the fast and slow rotation using WASD, really nice feature! Unfortunately I didn't understood how to use the rockets and sattelites, and the mouse is useless. Anyway this is a really fun game. I played something about 15 minute even just rotating those pretty nice shields! lol :)
PS:I guess you can solve the issue with the mouse if you add a fullscreen! Good luck! Let me know when you solve this issue :)
Some problems but i really like the feeling i had during my game, you need to continue to work on it :p
I got a few freezes - "return to home" at the end of a round and the help button made the game stuck, for example.
I really enjoyed it. I liked the progression and being able to buy more stuff for defence. What were the rockets and satelites for?
Seemed like a decent game, but the rockets and satellites don't appear to actually do anything, so once I wasted all my money on those, I lost immediately.
Seem likes a good old fashioned defense arcade game. I wasn't sure what the purchase options did though. Maybe a quick description of what they do and how to use them on the buy screen?
Nice game!
nice
That's really hard for me, nevertheless very enjoyable! Such a simple concept, but implementation is good! Music reminds me something from Dune: The battle for Arrakis on Sega md2, it brings a lot of nostalgia)
Nice Gameplay Concept ! I like the rotation! It was smooth! The more you play, the more you can upgrade and have more fun! Greato Jobu!
solid entry, it was quite smooth and can be quite challenging, intuitive from the start
Felt like a solid foundation for a game!
The idea was definitely there. The first couple of levels were relatively easy. I could beat them by constantly spinning. However, this plan didn't last forever and I noticed a sudden jump in difficulty. That may have just been me though. Like everyone else was saying, it's a great foundation. Amazing work!
Apparently the home screen makes it crash... huh
I agree with Thermacon that the idea is there. However, the lack of change from level to level kind of made the game boring. The game doesn't tell you how to use the missiles or the satellite which is kind annoying since i would like to know what they do
Fun for a few minutes but the action gets a bit bland after a while. Some kind of in-game control explanation would have been useful. The sound got very annoying.
The game sort of kept crashing on me, and none of the upgrades worked.
Great game! Rated pretty good!
Thanks for all the feedback everyone, especially those with some critical feedback. I should have added something to mention that the rocket and satellite upgrades were not available. Unfortunately I ran out of time to get them implemented. The majority of feedback seems to be very positive so I have decided to pursue this game further. Cheers all!
Nice idea, shame that you couldn't get around to finishing the rockets/satellite.
It was surprising for me to play this game since I thought about making this kind of game too. I could not figure out how to use the rockets that I bought with the coins but this game definitely has potential. Well done.
"You were fired." Oh no! "Also, the planet was destroyed." Meh.
Great idea with a rotating shield, wish the gameplay was expanded on. For example, could have moved the shield with scrollwheel and moved the ship with WASD. Fired a slow shot from the ship with mouse button (so it's better to go close with WASD before shooting), hitting big rocks reduce the size to small, hitting small ones makes them go away. The shields could have shown signs of being broken and moving them close to the space station (instead of satellite) could have repaired the repaired the shields (can't repair those fully destroyed).
I played it on normal difficulty. You could have skipped the upgrade screen at the start if the player had no money. There's no way to get back to the main menu after clicking the "About" button. Pressing "Home" after losing froze the game for me when I re-tried on easy (crashed?).
I've no idea what buying Rockets are supposed to do. I can see I have 2 but I can't use them. Could never afford another Satellite. What does the one I have even do? Don't know what the blue alien icon means or the green alien blob icon. I guess all of these things can be explained with that you simply didn't have time to implement them?
Doesn't seem to be much difference in the easy/normal/hard buttons, they all show the same stats. Says 10 incoming space rocks there but the game had 25 so I guess it's just a matter of the game not being quite finished.
Nice concept, this might make an interesting mobile game.
Hey, the concept looks good however I didn't understand how to use rockets.
