The art is wonderful but i dont get what im meant to do, i walk through the crack in the wall twice then get a cutscene over and over

linnet5 2019-05-01 15:55

Very nice implementation of the theme! I also really liked all the shadow world music!

dasmaichen 2019-05-01 18:04

Hi @jofersgames, thank you to playing our game! :)

Here is a hint: You have to toggle with the "T"-key to the shadow world and active the switch (purple egg) in the bottom right corner, then the barrier will disappear. :)

pixscope 2019-05-01 20:52

I love the graphics !

raphael-maia 2019-05-01 21:18

its very very beautiful and the visual are astounding. But i couldn't get anywhere, just to the secret room and nowhere else.

raphael-maia 2019-05-01 21:23

Oh, i did it now! Haha,

dasmaichen 2019-05-01 21:24

@raphael-maia Thank you for trying out our game!

Here is a hint: When you are in the shadow world, walk to the bottom right lamp that is switched off. That will open the door for you. :sparkles:

The graphics and music were very well done. The idea of switching between worlds is great, though it feels a little contrived having townspeople being walls, especially when they are blocking you across both dimensions. I will also say that using Rock-Paper-Scissors for a combat system isn't great, it added a bit of a goofy tone which I don't think was really supported by the game and it doesn't create any interesting interactions because it is pure chance.

I really like the art and especially the Dark realm music. What I thought was really cool was then when you lost a heart the sound would play on the beat (or I was just really lucky XD). Although I thought that the movement of the player was way too slow and it felt like I was slowly crawling instead of walking. Also the fighting needs a bit more depths, but other than that it was great!

silas-reinagel 2019-05-01 21:42

I love the exploration and the Dark World/Light World duality! Reminds me a lot of Link to the Past.

A couple of things that would have made the game a bit more immersive and fun would be a more interesting battle system, and music themes that are a little bit longer.

alphabetasoup 2019-05-01 21:50

Oh wow this game is freaking cool! Love the idea!

Some gameplay feedback: - Add ability for the user to swap key commands, I prefer WASD :) - I love the little 'unlit lamp' puzzle in the beginning but it would be cool if you could introduce that in a more engaging way. The first time I met the old lady who was giving us back story, I just skipped through the entire dialog and had to come back and actually read what she was saying.

That said, I'm thoroughly impressed at what y'all were able to accomplish in a weekend.

The idea of switching between worlds was really well done! Music and art are amazing as well!

kaeveris 2019-05-04 05:28

I like the idea of parallel worlds and how they connect to each other. The game played great and the sounds and artstyle were amazing!

webox 2019-05-04 19:38

Hey I liked it, here's some feedback: * Controls were a bit strange, maybe wasd and spacebar? * As many, I couldn't find out what to do on the first room 😰. I went trough after reading your hint * Movement is a bit weird, it's like the player keeps moving after I already stopped pressing the key

Other than that, art is BEAUTIFUL music is great too and it has a great mood!

Great work!

Great Job! I finished the game, it felt very polished.

mieeh 2019-05-04 23:06

Pretty cool game, for me it became a bit stale in the gameplay department. The parallel worlds idea is cool but when moving to a new zone i got some lag switching between the worlds, a bit irritating. Overall solid entry!

pedro137br 2019-05-05 00:47

Great game, loved the ideia of switching worlds

popdaddygames 2019-05-05 21:52

I super love the visual aesthetic and the throwback to early 2000s web games. Superb work!

marcosshiuuri 2019-05-05 22:52

Well made game.. I think it's one of the best that I played so far. Actualy I liked everything, graphics, music, the gameplay itself..

Congratulations on your entry for this Ludum Dare o/

The graphics and story are great, and the music also fit well, and the sound effects on losing a heart were good too. The girl getting older through spending her lifepoints made it all hit home so much more. The general amount of content between the levels and the dialogue is absolutely enormous for such a short timespan.

I'd say the walk-around was a little bit slow. And I'm still not sure if the enemies' rock-paper-scissors is random, for some reason I was losing consistently through both random and scissor-heavy strategies to take advantage of the upgrade.

davidus 2019-05-06 06:33

Nice game! I love the art! Good job!

stefan-jovanovic 2019-05-06 20:21

Really lovely game. A lot of this are done in such a short amount of time. Keep up the good work.

joror 2019-05-06 20:44

Nice dual story and puzzle game! It was a bit hard in the beginning to 'see' what is intractable in the world, had to read one of the comments to know something was a button.

But after that I got going - nice stuff.

coleslaughter 2019-05-17 03:12

Now this is a game with a lot of style and some unique ideas. :) Pretty ambitious to try and develop two characters simultaneously over the course of a single weekend, but I'd say y'all did a pretty good job!

One thing I didn't particularly care much for was the combat. Unless I missed something, whether you chose rock, paper, or scissors, you always had a 33% chance of actually dealing damage and a 66% chance of either doing nothing or getting hit. It never matters what choice you make because the outcome will always be out of your control. So I just ended up spamming "scissors" and hoped I wouldn't die.

Other than that, though, I loved the charm of this game, and the art was downright adorable. I also love how the entire page background would change when you would swap between worlds, nice touch!

winniehell 2019-05-17 18:44

@coleslaughter Thank you for playing our game and the detailed feedback! There is actually a way in the game to improve your "combat skills".

omarjbelhaj 2019-05-19 22:22

Game that has shown its interesting nature! I really like the exchange between the two characters, as much as I like the time it takes to carry out the various actions. The only flaw I find is in the combat system which is unclear and relies heavily on luck

peterfonts 2019-05-20 11:40

Cool game with amazing sprite animations! You can improve the game adding a Journal with the objectives or goals of the game... Overall is a nice game! Congrats! Keep making games! :fist:

vinegarlove 2019-05-20 17:49

Awesome mechanics. I liked the transition between both worlds.

Both music themes were good.
