This is an excellent concept and fits the theme exactly. well done!
The concept is great. The interactions between different activities is well executed. I enjoyed figuring out the relationships between the activities. Very cool!
Nice concept and the gameplay works great. I give it a 4/5, if you have time check out my game too and nicely done
Fits the theme really well. Great use of small tiles in pico8 pallette.. I love the icons and aesthetics in general. Makes a great point about how we allot our time and how we just simply dont have time for everything... and how putting too much time into something, or spreading yourself out thin, takes away from other aspects of your life. Great project.
I really like the idea! Unlocking new traits feels rewarding and the game fits the theme perfectly. What I'm missing is some sort of goal or maybe hints of which traits there are still left to unlock.
First time I played, I slept all the time and lived up to 120 years! Hurray!
And then I started playing with the different combinations -- you got something really cool here!
I loved when "Astronaut" opened up. Maybe add the possibility of certain paths getting locked out, or the option for the player to "close" or "hide" certain option? Maybe add some events? Also are the traits unlocked by just having the necessary pre-requisites, or do you also need a certain quantity of them?
Anyway, great concept!
I love it, especially how you unlock more things over time. It gradually learn you how to manage your time and how the game works. I also like the look of the game in general, I really like this style. Like caranha said, certain events would be really cool and would add a lot of depth and replayability.
Took me a while to get to grips with it, but this was fun! Looks great as well and enjoyed unlock new choices. Good work
Honestly this game is probably the best I've played in a long time. I'm not even sure why, but it feels really familiar and touching even without any sound or animations. The whole presentation is just... serene? Anyway, this is the second game that I've rated 5/5 on every aspect so far (the first one is MooMMafia, check it out when you have a chance).
Thank you everyone so far! To answer @caranha and the rest, there are definitely supposed to be more events that happen in your teens and later in life, as well as different starting situations … but then the Ludum Dare deadline happened and that's all I could get done. :) So things beyond the start are unbalanced and there's nothing to do past 30 or 40 years. I'll improve it after the voting is finished. Thanks again for lovely reviews!
There was way too much stuff going on in my life so I decided to just sleep until I die. Turns out if you sleep all day you can live 150+ years! I think you should probably make us die at some point, maybe based on body stat? :D But it is a cool concept and it fits the theme.
Interesting concept, I got to 35 years but I'm not sure if something interesting will happen xD.
Really nice concept and I like the idea. So many variations and possibilities that you could go. Nice game really enjoyed it 😀
Fun concept, I enjoyed trying to up all the items, and seeing what new ones appear. I think I saw everything around age 24, as nothing more happened from then on. It would be great if the game had goals, like get a certain number of points on an item in a certain amount of time. That would give it more replayability.
This was a very cool idea! I got up to about 50 before I decided to see what weird stuff I could do with it. I got to somewhere over 100 and gave up, not realizing it had an end. One of few games this jam to really get me to think!
Simple effective graphics, and I'm always a sucker for a good retro game. (Pico 8 counts, dangit!!) I did an NES game myself; the limitations just seem to help make a more focused game.
Nice entry!
Becoming an astronaut is hard! The funny thing about this game is: stories develop in your own head, 'what do I want to do', 'I've got a kid now, maybe I should work more' Great graphics.
Does well to capture the feeling of living a whole life, despite the short playtime and nice simple rules. Cute and comfy interface. It's fun to discover the new opportunities opening up, and equally crushing to exclude possibilities. brb, off to reflect on own life.
