Loved it too. Art direction is great !
The game was really fun. Loved the art style!
Hmm, interesting game. I liked the style and the sounds. Manage was quite difficult, because to get into the enemy had to turn to face them literally go to meet them.
I wish you could have build for x86_64 for linux, in x86 I can't play it.
@belug23 Hey, let me go into my editor and I can see if I can make an export to support your architecture and get it up on my itch.io page!
Really neat aesthetic and pretty fun! I didn't have the patience to finish it though.
like the graphics but it was hard to get to know what to do
As advertised, a really stylish game ! I loved the aesthetics and the sound design. The classical control scheme as also responsive and pretty welcome in such a game. However, the difficulty curve is really steep, as it is difficult to even pass the first "room".
All in all, very nice game !
Really enjoyed playing it. The art is really good, and the character is adorable ! (Wish it was maybe a bit animated. Even a small idle with his tail waggling goes a long way.)
I also really like the reward music. It's a bit sad that it is so quiet during the battles, apart from the sound effects.
Congratulations on making such an entry !
@jjoeyay Thanks for the 64bit build, I really like the game, too bad attack and targeting is not done with the mouse it would make it a little bit more easy. Using the the arrows to target and move is really hard since you have to go towards the enemies to attack.
Really nice and thanks again for the build!
~~@belug23 Check the downloads now! I've put up downloads for both architectures~~ Oh I see you got it! Comments weren't refreshing, heh Also, thanks for all the positive words you guys!
@fluffy-kaeloky Thank you! If I had had a little more time I totally would've put together some music for the battles. And I'm glad you like the character— I totally should've made a little idle like that for him! Maybe you'll see more of him in the future :)
As others said the art in this one is pretty great! I'm always a fan of keeping it simple. (I've actually never done a game in black and white like that; maybe I'll give it a shot some day)
It definitely had a feeling of an 80s-era arcade game. Thanks for a fun entry
Great entry.Like the graphics.Later stages become really hard.
I really love his type of art. Good feel is also well tuned! Nice job!
Really love the art style and weapon/speed upgrade system. Game is also quite engaging. Great job!
Art style is very unique and the using health as the upgrade currency fits the theme well.
As others have said, aiming isn't controlled with a mouse so it is very hard to kite them and still damage the enemies. If the aiming system is kept the same you might want to balance the game in other ways, e.g. giving the character more mobility options.
Well done overall! :D
Very nice to play and the art/animation is pretty and fluid
Super well made, very nicely polished game! Love the animations and the graphics especially. Great work!
Very good!
It's an almost meaningless term, but this game has a *lot* of character. It is very clearly imbued with the stylistic flair of a specific artist, and it makes it feel rather personal. Not just the cool chicken-scratch dithered gothic-serif art style, but the extremely angular music and sfx accompanying. This would be extremely well polished if it were your tenth game, but the fact that it's your first is ridiculous. Even the falling animation and sound effect has flavor!
Minor feedback would be that I wish movement and shoot direction were separate? Maybe it's just the twin stick shooter in me but it feels a little awkward tying them together. Also, sometimes if you kill a lot of enemies at once, their sound effects layer additively and get quite loud, haha.
Fantaaaaastic work, this is really good.
I really like the stylization you have made. The controls are bit hard to master since you need to be constantly in movement and also try to shoot the following enemies, but I played along and it is actually quite interesting approach, hardly a complaint! Overall really enjoyable entry. Great job!
@jjjjason Oh! This is a bit late of a reply, but thanks, a lot actually! I'm really glad that you appreciate what I've made to the extent you do. My abiltiies are currently fairly modest and limited when it comes to producing illustrations and music, but I've tried to use what resources I do have at my disposal to worthwhile effect and produce a tangible and pleasing style. Creating and dissecting that 'feel' is very compelling to me; I'm excited to create more and delve much further into all of this as I figure things out further.
Oh, and one more note— I've been learning alone as a novice up to this point, and the prospect of getting to meet and talk with others much more experienced than I am is really exciting! I'd be happy to keep in touch if you're interested.
To everyone, thanks again for all of your comments and feedback!
@jjoeyay Unfortunately I don't use Twitter any more, but at the very least I've followed you on itch.io! Looking forward to more of that feel in the future. I've played a couple more LD games since this one and this one is still definitely one of my top five!
