Really interesting concept. I like the idea here. You really need a few more objectives to keep things interesting (like a checkpoint you have to drive through rather than just surviving).

justswn 2018-04-24 16:47

I like the idea! It is a little slow paced though.

tommohawkaction 2018-04-24 16:48

Love the art style :) -> Please check out our game https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/ludums-kitchen

"WASD" and "Stay on the track" definitely helps haha! The theme is very innovated and a well-fitted for LD41! Making the card easier to use(allow us to use it in at any place after dragged it) would be nice.

dlowe 2018-04-24 16:55

Never thought I'd say "I need to topdeck a left hand turn", but here we are :)

Thanks for the game!

taviandir 2018-04-24 16:57

Lovely concept, have to rely a lot on the RNG to get the right cards you need to take the turns though :)

karin-strljic 2018-04-24 16:57

Nice graphics and good concept! For the possible development, I would add a finish line and a faster pace or higher speed on straight parts. Good job!

vovin 2018-04-24 17:01

A card-based racer is probably the last thing anyone expected, nice use of the theme.

minirop 2018-04-24 17:08

really neat game. it is just missing sounds (or is it my computer?). LAN multiplayer could be fun with a lap count instead of lives.

danes1111 2018-04-24 23:03

Thank you all guys, I really appreciate your positive feedback, it's motivating a lot. @CaptainPilot @Karin Strljic I wanted to add more features, but remaining time was my enemy :D @minirop There were no sounds, I don't have time to add them, but with the sound of screaming tires it would be soo good. @justsWn yeah, you are right, it needs some rebalancing. I might make a new version in future, so thanks for all feedback

radmccool 2018-04-25 16:41

i really wanted to make it round at least once but i never got the draw for it :( the rng gods have forsaken me TT_TT meh had fun anyway :D It would really have helped if the game played in short bursts maybe even just for an easy mode :P

danes1111 2018-04-25 17:15

@radmccool Thanks for the review, and what do you mean by "short bursts"?

radmccool 2018-04-25 17:31

like... the player would play the first card, then the car moves for x seconds and then the car would stop. Then the player would play another card and then the car would move. Sort of like turn based movement. I could just be bad at the game though :P

lintfordpickle 2018-04-25 17:57

The idea was good, but the pace was a little slow

fazz 2018-04-25 18:00

I managed to keep it going for about three minutes. Interesting combination of playing mechanics. I reckon you should develop this further, could be quite a cool game with some AI opponents and an actually race.

isaaclopinho 2018-04-25 18:10

i loved the idea and the art style!! I also made a racing game.. It's a fishing/racing game for 2 players if you want to check it: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/super-bass-racing

danes1111 2018-04-25 18:38

@fazz Yes, I want to add AI in the first place, but at the end, I don't have time to implement it.

lewis-quaife 2018-04-25 18:41

This is so neat - what a great concept and really embraces the theme - Feels fairly well balanced too.

sinemual 2018-04-25 18:48

Nice concept)

danes1111 2018-04-25 18:50

@Lewis Quaife Thank you, sometimes it is balanced, but are times when the randomization is just against you.

danes1111 2018-04-25 18:50

@sinemual Thanks

fashionbatman 2018-04-26 00:06

ugh that punny title! Really cool idea, I would love to see it expanded on at some point.

anubhav-kashyap 2018-05-14 12:25

(Car)ds is a really great game and has a fun and really innovative concept.

"10/10" :v:

danes1111 2018-05-14 18:41

@Anubhav Kashyap thanks you very much, positive feedback is always motivating
