Can't wait to play this!
Fun, charming game that I can easily see seeking it out in a browser when I'm bored at work.
Nice game!
@sharks Looking forward to hear what you think about the game!
@Team-Orange-Pop I'm flattered!
@Anubhav-Kashyap Thank you :)
awesome idea when I saw your concept and rendering I thought "I wana play it" so keep going
I think you have planned too much ^^
@SirThomas , Yes we took a bigger bite then we could chew, but thank you for your kind word :)
Liked the game very much. Here's what i'd improve:
- movement speed (now it's feels like a slogfest) - higher spawn rate (took me 2 min to get avocado from frog :P)
Thanks for your input @PsilocybeGames I agree that the spawn-rate is to low, we are working on a second build of the game so your criticism is really helpful. Could you tell me which method of moving you used though since you are way faster if you walk forwards and sideways at the same time whilst jumping, but yes, we should probably alter the movement a bit. I'm happy that you enjoyed the game!
I just moved forward and jumped.
Great game! Perspective could be better.
Thank you @maloy-Quinn and yes, I agree.
Cool art, but no music, that is too bad :/ Cool concept, but I think it is too hard for some reasons : too many enemies at the same place, too many hp for these enemies, the range of the attacks is too small I think, it lacks animations also and it is not really possible to know in advence what enemies drops what with a weapon or an other one.
The game has a really good potential, but I think you lost yourself on details maybe. Keep coding :)
funny idea and funny gameplay :)
@Mathiouza Yeah we're going to rework the spawning system in a patch we're working on and we never got around to recording music or sound effects since the scope of this game was a bit too big for us to manage (being rookie programmers and game developers) but we might ad some in the patch. We are going to implement animations in the future but right now we have to grasp how to correctly implement animations from blender to unity. We're also going to try to balance the attack range and hp / damage. Thank you so much for your input, it helps a lot! :)
@RocketRaccoons Thank you :)
I like the story of your game and the way you present it. Having fun playing it now
But I dont like the camera lock, it's hard to see around and explore.
@mainghia95 Thank you very much! :) Yeah we were planning on at least changing the camera angle before launch but never got around to it. We'll make sure to fix it in the patch ;) Thanks for playing
I appreciate the ambition here, but this could do with a bit more polish. Memorizing a long list of ingredients and then trying to figure out which things drop which things on tight time limit would be easier if it didn't take me a full minute to find any enemies at all, only to get swamped a minute later. It's hard to even check what enemies drop since the swarm of enemies demands a fighting retreat. The lack of feedback and knockback in combat make it feel dull. The charming character design and good concept speak in your favor, but the implementation is unfinished. Good work!
In contrast with @mainghia95 I actually like the camera movement in the game. Maybe being able to look up and down would be nice, but it didn't bother me so much. Enjoyed the game. Killed some salt and some peppers, hahah. Mr Moneybags is pleased.
I'd suggest speeding the gameplay up though, took me quite a while to get going with cooking :P
The concept is cool but I didn't even manage to make pancakes even after 5 minutes of playing. Some nice touches with the fridge inventory and different weapons making different ingredients. I would have liked an easier difficulty. But ambitious work never the less!
@GettingRekt There is a known error where either the recipe is assigned incorrectly or the recipe doesn't work at all. We are looking into it and will probably have the cooking be easier and clearer in a coming patch
Nice little game here. I really feel like I want another version, a Post-jam!
@piscythe since we are making a post-jam version we appreciate your criticism, it's good that you provide so structured feedback, hope you comeback to the more polished version
@Sun Parlor Studios , Thank you and thank you for feedback
@Rayne , We will, keep updated :)
I don't know how to cook and my cookbook doesn't work properly, I can't switch it's cards. There are really too many enemies :D I hope you'll work on this and show post-jam version to the world!
@Sandra-Jasionowska You can turn the pages in the book by scrolling, but we might add buttons in post-jam
This game makes me so happy to play - We too went for a Cooking / Fighting theme its awesome to see what you guys have done. I will admit I found the gameplay a bit confusing - And is really begging for some audio. Great game 👨🍳🔫
@Lewis Quaife thank you very much, i guess we will have to play your game to :)) , Audio will come soon™️
I'd like to echo @piscythe. The game isn't bad, but the scope is too big which make it feel lacking polish. Iäm actually impressed by how ambitious it is and that you actually managed to finish it. While I'd certainly like to see animated enemies and more fleshed out combat I thought it was fine for a jam game.
My problem was the high information load you put on the player at the start of the game. The tutorial are several pages long, too much to keep in mind in my opinion, and there's no way to review it once the game has started. I got an order, saw the recipe and killed some enemies but didn't know how to proceed from there and when I pressed escape to see if I could pull up the tutorial from a pause menu the game took me to the main menu and made the buttons unclickable, forcing me to quit.
For the next jam I'd suggest doing something smaller and more focused where you can put more time into each feature to make every part shine because you clearly have the talent to.
@them Yeah, we went way in over our heads with this one. It took blood, sweat and tears to finish this game in time and in the end it's nowhere near as good as we want it to be. However, this has been a really valuable lesson for everyone involved in why we should not try to make more than we can manage so that we can avoid working 14-16 non-stop each day. We will definetly be going for a smaller scope next time but I'm glad we went for a too large game this time, since we might actually be able to fix and polish this game and maybe, actually, eventually release it for real.
artwork is so cool =)
Hey, I get to see my twin game! haha, actually exciting to check out where our games were similar and different. Both had utility backpacks made out of cookware, that cracked me up. Kudos to whoever designed that avocado frog, that is a genius enemy design. Overall I had fun exploring the different things I could do, checking out all of the different enemies was my favorite. As for feedback I think it's already been said that there is a scope problem, I always have an issue with that as well. Maybe you could have thought "What is the core of this game" and then structured your other elements to support that rather than spreading yourselves so thin ( : That's something I usually keep in mind, for a first jam as a bigger team you should be proud of what you got done! Sometimes it's harder to coordinate with a bunch of people in the chaos of a jam. Great job!
@wramp thank you
@Gumboot , Glad to see you here!!! and yes, you have a point in how we had a too large scope, your game seems as good as your other entries and your it's nice to hear your feedback, and thank you for the kind words. Will definitly follow you for the future and we all hope to acheive your level of skill. p.s. it was @Dj-Depressive who modelled the avocado frog and the concept was from @karin-g
The theme and gameplay is quite interesting. 3D models is awesome. Also the history is great )))
@FireHawk Thank you very much :-)
Great concept! I like the style and how all plays around the kitchen. But the world around feels empty and so I mostly run around looking for things to do. Pretty good start for something bigger. :)
Definitely looking forward to the next patch. I share the opinion of those who have commented earlier, especially when it comes to the lack of sounds and music, the slow pace of the game and spawn rate etc. Despite the criticism, it is a humorous and great concept. Your plan for further implementation is promising. Could you kindly check out our game?; https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/god-does-play-cards . Take notice of the fact that this was our first LD.
@PanicTheFirst Thank you, will do, stay updated
@Max_Frankenstein Thank you, we are working on the patch and would appreaciate if you come back for the rest of the game later
This game is pretty good idea and pretty fun. However there are some problems one being the lack explanation that also being a common complaint for my game as well. I spent a few minutes wandering around the kitchen area not knowing what to do. Sound could also immensely improve the game, of course I know you had time constraints so if I may give my recommendation. Here's a sound effect generator https://www.bfxr.net/ and a music making tool https://boscaceoil.net/ both tools are free, fun and easy to use. Good job overall though. I had also made a cooking game I'd appreciate it if you'd check it out. If your feeling up to it here's the link: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/yum-some
an interesting idea for this game. this is fun game, I like the gameplay and story as well. Keep your work!
I love the idea and concept of this game, it is quite interesting. Although i found the movement speed of the player too slow. Overall great game!
@frostByte4k Thank you, we are now working on a better tutorial, and sound and music is coming.
@Amazura Thank you very much :)
@Kristian David Thanks for input, we are working on it and our next build has a movement speed increase
The 3D models are great, they are so cute! Unfortunetelly the HUD and general design doesn't reached the same level. Also the 3D models could be improved and visual would be better with some post-effects.
I really missed some animations and some music. The controls could be better too, it would be interestig if you used orbital camera for the character, take a look at the Cinemachine Camera in Unity Asset Store :smiley:
Overall is a good game and a nice idea. Good job!
Please, take a look at mine: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/confessional
Cool idea! I included it in my Ludum Dare 41 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPBmbPuy0Bg
Lovely look to this and a ton of charm! :)
Good job! Cool game!
I left my rating of your game, if you can leave your feedback in our game, Witch's Escape.
I hope you continue with the project.

Great concept. Being chased around by a crowd of assorted foodstuffs is pretty scary. The UI is not so great but the gameplay is really cool, although it seems quite hard to make a recipe.
