The sound effects turn this from a regular game, into a work of art. Really well done.
Haha! Super fun game! Someone with social anxiety, I can relate xD
Sound effects were the best. No competition! :P
Hahaha really nice game! Interesting idea, loved the sound fx.
Really nice game! I may be wrong, but I think there might be hitbox issues in some areas.
I loved the concept: it was very funny. The sound effects were very funny ant the music fits the game well too.
By the way, you can't change the balance of the game after the deadline. You cannot bugfixe. It's kind of unfair when rating, because your game seems more polished than the other (but that's because you got more time to put into it). If you want to rebalance your game, you need to do a "Post LD version", but leave your original submission for rating.
Still a enjoyed your game, it was a lot of fun, so good job!
@nalia1991 When we visited other games and saw a lot these "Post LD versions", we decided to balance out just this thing, but I guess you're right, we'll put back our original submission as well.
By the way, thanks for the comments and ratings guys :)
Great game!! However everytime I was bullied I was losing the focus on the game screen. But it is still a solid entry for this jam and I really liked audio and graphics!
Very nice!
"POST LDJAM fixes : Reduced the health of hackers. Hit them once and they’ll let you be."
Game balancing post jam is against the rules 😬
Feel free to add a separate post-compo link but the game should stand as it was when you finished it (more clarification here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/false-game/compojam-done-play-and-rate-games)
@jezzamon, @nalia1991 already pointed that out, we rectified it. The link in "Links" is the official version we originally uploaded, only the one just under "POST LDJAM fixes" is the modified version.
Love the sounds, rare to play a jam game that actually makes me smile too, the humor is there but not overbearing which is great. Mechanically it's a bit eh, pretty simple just mash keys to get through. I didn't like the level design, getting trapped in a maze with no way out kinda feels bad, wanted to explore more of the game and a repetitive maze ain't so great. Regardless, I really liked this one, lots of fun and a great premise.
Ok cool :) When I first opened the page, it wasn't updated I think.
Like the graphics!
I think level-design wise I'd prefer it if there was less backtracking and a more obvious direction of where you needed to go. It felt a little frustrating when you go far and then have to go all the way back...
If most of the graphics/audio relies on third party assets, you should opt out of those categories. From your description, I can't really tell what you did yourselves.
From an ethical point of view, I'm not happy with a game where you have to go around and bully random NPCs to find out if they are hackers.
The biggest problem this game has, however, is there seems to be no point in answering the annoying texts, because doing so takes longer than answering the phone call.
Seems like the best way to win would be to turn the phone off! Save your battery, no more annoying calls.
Cool stuff, graphics and sounds suit the game well, the concept is pretty unique and funny (especially liked the necessity to call mom), my only gripe would be the maze structure of the game, it's too "hard", but not hard as in challenging or difficult, more like annoying, since all it really imposes on you is traversing all the way back when you guessed wrong and ended up at a dead end. That aside, a great jam game, well done!
One note, you used the AOL "You've got Mail!" sound effect in your game. I think you'll have to opt-out of "audio" ratings for that, you're supposed to create all sounds/music during the jam (sounded like some internet noises were premade too).
The idea is pretty good, goes well with the theme.
This game was quite funny, even if the mazes were a pain to traverse.
I enjoyed the humor of this game quite a bit, as well as the graphical style. At times the sound effects could get a bit overbearing, but they did add to the humor and overall hectic nature of the game. At times the hitboxes on the enemies could be a little off, but otherwise the gameplay felt very simple and enjoyable.
I got mail WAY too often, but the humor was nice. Nice take on the theme also.
The music si very nice
