Nice job putting together so many assets in a cohesive style. There's clearly a lot of work put into the UI and menus as well which is something you don't often see in a jam. The gameplay itself I found a little difficult, the health drops seemed pretty sparse at first so I died a few times without really knowing what I could have done better.

bocodillo 2017-08-01 03:14

While a little difficult the game was very fun to play. I'd love to see the game extended! The stomp ability did seem weak compared to the spin attack (which felt great to use). The music and atmosphere was cool and the game felt very well put together.

benmcnelly 2017-08-01 03:53

Art and menu's were great!

mr-marcgenesis 2017-08-01 14:34

Assets were well made and the overall ambience of the "dungeon" was great. I felt like the Wizard wasn't losing his energy fast enough and I was in no rush to save him. I could just run around in circle while fighting a monster here and there and the door would open at one point without taking too many risks.

Well done on the main menu screen and the loading animation! Loved that detail.

kakureta 2017-08-02 01:40

Very neat graphics made for a smooth experience and it was actually really fun to play!

chris-coe 2017-08-02 01:48

It was kinda fun, but really difficult. Pretty graphics (especially that UI, dang) but it ran pretty slowly on my system. Nice sounds and all, great models. It was REALLY hard for me though; felt like the player character dies too easily. Cool job folks!

sebastian-m 2017-08-02 01:52

This games looks incredible. I love the hand painted textures. It gets 5 stars in graphics from me. It's also really fun to play, but a little too difficult.

Positive:

- It's fun to play. - It looks amazing and the dungeon mood is well achieve. - It's really polished for a game jam, the menus are amazing and it looks great.

Negative:

- The scene gets crowded with enemies too quickly and makes it difficult.

Amazing job guys!!!

will-walters 2017-08-02 01:53

The art style was really charming, gameplay was fast and fun. Nice touch with the abilities, too, they really brought something to the gameplay. A bug: I spun next to the wizard and fell through the floor into a black nothingness. Other than that, a great showing!

don-fouts 2017-08-02 02:10

This is super polished for such little time, fantastic job! The only thing I didn't like was it was hard to aim my attacks and avoid being attacked.

theflyingkeyboard 2017-08-02 10:12

Awesome game with neat art style and interesting concept. UI looks nice and easy to read. But I have two complains: -player attack distance seems to be a little to long(it is fun that he have sword and can attack enemies that are on the other side of the screen) -there are too many enemies attacking at the same time, which makes game very difficult.

svr-audio 2017-08-02 15:12

What a game ! Very well made, the art is amazing and the concept is very good, the music is cool, the gamplay was lagged sometimes (but I believe it because my PC sucks lol).

Very good game, much better than what you expect to play in ludum dare, it is possible to see that you guys put a lot of effort in it. Great job !

Show ver um jogo BR desse nivel, parabens pessoal !

n-feofentov 2017-08-02 15:27

Nice game. Agree with most of the written above. I just want to add, that I'd prefer HP bar to change instantly as damage is taken. You really need only 3 punches to kill an enemy but long death animation and slowly decreasing HP bar make me think that it is still alive. So I continue to hit already dead enemy while alive ones were killing me. Another advise: I don't like taking damage while using some close combat skills like second ability.

Good luck!

ezaudiolabs 2017-08-02 23:06

Really, really fun game! The difficulty progression is well balanced in a way that it keeps us playing on and on.

Graphics are pretty cool, sound is nice and the mechanics worked pretty well with me.

The only thing I wasn't very fond of was the music genre for the gameplay track as I feel a more battle-ish song would help with the overall mood.

But overall, great job!

Thanks a lot to everyone who had played our game, seriously i didn't was expecting this much of feedback, i'm glad that you all had liked the idea, gameplay and art, we all apreciate it.

@graebor @mr-marcgenesis @n-feofentov : yes, we saw it, for the jam we couldn't do much about balancing the game and there was no time for polish those things about the health bar, but as we're planning to extend a little bit the game and finish it, we're gonna make those feedbacks count and put what we can in the game to make it better, thank you.

@bocodillo : thank you, i'm glad that you liked it, we're planning to make a post-jam version and extend it, we don't know yet what we will put in the game, but is in the plans to make it more fun to play.

@benmcnelly @kakureta : thank you guys.

@chris-coe @svr-audio : thanks guys, and yeah, unfortunelly we didn't stop to think the minimum requirements, i tried to run in a low spec pc that i work (in my day-job and didn't go well, i had to play it in the very low and in the lowest resolution possible :( @svr-audio (obrigado cara, serio :) )

@sebastian-m : thank you very much, i'm glad you liked it and thanks again for the 5 stars in graphics, honestly is the first time i tried something hand-painted (the other jams was other type os texturing or was just hand drawing for a 2d game), and i apreciate that you have pointed the positives and the negatives, we'll make a post-jam version of the game, and we're gonna se what we can do to balance the game and still fun/less difficult to play.

@will-walters : thank you for the feedback and well.. that's odd, we didn't saw that happening to us, i guess that's the point of testing the game and let others test it too. Thank you for pointing that.

@don-fouts : thank you, i guess maybe is because of the camera position and the hit box.

@ezaudiolabs : thank you, and i got it, we'll see about the soundtrack to look something that fits better to the mood of the game.

Thanks everyone again, that spend a little time to play our game, if you want to keep in touch with more news about this game or something else that we're working on, feel free to follow us on twitter.

Other than being a bit rough around the edges I thought this felt like a solid Dungeon Crawling game/engine. I could very easily see this being spun off into the latest top down Dungeon Crawling Hack n Slash, or even a more story driven Action RPG.

Im still not 100% sure what part relates to running out of power tho. Do you have to defend the magical stones to either side of the room to prevent the wizard's power from fizzling out? Its more of a somantics question, was mostly wondering if I missed something or misinterpreted the story setting.

Otherwise this felt solid. If you refined the abilities a bit, added in some additional skills you could learn, and put together a fun story you'd have yourself a really nice fully fleshed out game.

Nice work. I featured Dadoor in my first showcase video for LD39. Apologies that I missed some of your team member names in the developer credit for your game. I will add those to the video description instead.

Very cool! This seems super polished, especially the UI and the art - the door looked really awesome and it was satisfying to see it open.

tommy 2017-08-14 15:17

Great idea and great game, I've never seen something like this come out of a jam! It feels like a complete and polished PS1/PS2 game, I really love this style!

Lovely game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 39 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eXpztmcl_M
