Waaaaaay too hard. I don't like the area where you have to jump constantly from the blocks that fall and disappear. You only have one chance, and if you fail you have to restart. Good platforming physics, and from what I've seen, not too bad level design, just that falling platforms not respawning feels unfair. Good job, keep it up!
Solid mechanics! The game could really do with some checkpoints and respawning breaking blocks. :)
I know difficulty isn't necessarily a bad thing, but this game is still too unforgiving.
I mean, after I figured out how to get through each obstacle, the subsequent runs got easier, but any mistake and you're back at the beginning, or you're stuck with no way forward.
Maybe you could make the destructible platforms "grow back" after some time, so the player won't be forced to suicide? Also, the fallen blocks are falling to the ground floor and stopping, and they stop interacting with the player. I don't know if that was intentional.
Checkpoints would also have been a nice solution.
After some effort I was able to get to the spikes, but I died shortly afterwards, and I'm not motivated enough to go through all that again to see what comes next. Sorry.
Anyway, congratulations for the game! And thank you for rating my Little Scout! :)
Unforgiving! I liked the 'old school' feel of it, though. The simple graphics and difficulty made me feel like I was playing VVVVVV, which isn't a bad game to be compared to!
I liked how you used what seemed like collision bugs are part of the level design!
Game crashed on launch, only managed to hear some music and poof
Hard-core game. The gray cubes outside the castle is the best design in this game.
btw...I wonder the creator ever pass this game?
@foolmoron -> it wasn't exactly a collision bug, but still found serendipitly :p
@joyfulxp -> I'm the creator and no, I never finished my own game. Due to the time limit I didn't achieve to add some importants features as checkpoint and respawnable falling block. So the game is awfully hard and none of my relatives ever finished it :P.
@gama-croma -> If you want me to figure out why it crashed on your platform, send me a mail at : ernack at live dot fr. If no, thanks for trying and sorry for that !
Wow this was surprisingly fun. Yes it is hard, but it's also cool. And the mechanic is quite nice indeed...I wonder if you forst got that on accident and then you decided to just go with it. A few nice graphics and animations would certainly make this even cooler. The only thing I really don't like is LD games/developers asking for donations. Sorry, but this is still a game done in 48-72 hours...so no.
Thanks for entering anyway!
@diknows I made the physical engine from scratch and I added the possibility for a block to fall. After testing it I though it would be a nice gameplay element. Am I asking for donation ? I use itch.io which allow peoples who want to make some donation to do it. I see that more like a free price than a real asking and I don't think I will ever had one (except from my mom or friends haha). Thanks for playing :)
Nice, but also really mean :)
I gave up after the xth try on the falling balcony shaft on the left side. Checkpoints would be the most important feature. Well done!
Oh boy, this was a little too hard for me. To the point I didn't want to try again hard. I'm not a hardcore platformer or anything but I feel the difficulty ramped up pretty fast in this one.
First two improvements I'd like to see would be:
1. Checkpoints 2. Slower introduction into mechanics (those 3 red enemies right after the falling blocks thing was intense)
Still though, for 48hours, I get that it's in the state it is and you didn't have time to polish it up.
Maybe next time focus less on making a big level and more on game mechanics. I'm afraid nobody actually reached beyond the 50% mark of your tower, which sucks because you probably put a bunch of thought in the level design.
Either way, for 48hours, hat tip to you :tophat:
Dude, it was too hard!
Woah it's really instering but also hard, it's a well planned the level and like the simple mechanics! Defenitely defeted by the game
Very nice mechanics in here ! I loved the simple mechanics of what i'll call sand, by allowing to jump again, and got pretty addicted to the game, for a moment. Of course it was hard and could have used some checkpoints. And graphisms are a bit simple, but i enjoyed it. Music was nice too ! Good job !
Super hard! However I really liked some of the challenges. I didn't get very far, but i managed to get to the fourth floor!
I think with some more work you could take the simple puzzles and expand the level design a little to create some really interesting puzzles. More interesting stuff could be above, but I just couldn't get there! :D
Well done.
It feels really weird to sort of swim through the breakable blocks by holding spacebar. Sometimes I didn't jump upon hitting them and I wasn't sure why. Other than that, the platforming physics are good.
This game is frickin' hard.
The falling block jumps are reallly hard, and I didn't get very far. Overall the game feels a bit half-baked, and in need of finishing, but it is a good start for a basic platformer. Work on the graphics and level design, and you could have something.
Weird mechanics, couldn't quite figure out how I could sometimes keep jumping up through falling stuff and sometimes they and me just fell down. Was kind of fun, but mostly frustrating when I suddenly found myself outside the castle on the wrong side and nowhere to go.
Haha, what a weird mechanic. It's pretty funny actually :D. If you would have taught it better in the level design, I think people would have appreciated this more. I think I managed to finish the level or maybe I died. I hold space and I saw a flash and then I was in the main menu :(
Definitely agree that the blocks should re-spawn. But that was a fun game! The mechanics worked in a very interesting way!
