It's an interesting attempt at agar.io? But i'm not sure why you are allways falling down

Where do I even start.

The idea is really damn cool, refering to floppys as the ancient technology.

Really impressed by the drawing/animation skills.

Thumbs up!

I like your game idea and the doodle art.
In order to improve your game I would add some music and polish that movement mechanic.

lonesurvivor 2016-08-29 11:58

Haha great idea!

I was confused first, because with the wrong resolution set, the window cuts of the borders and I couldn't see the years at the left and the stuff at the bottom.

I like the idea to draw everything by hand on paper and use that. Well done!

I don't know what to do or how to play but I just love the graphics.

I really like hand drawn asethics! Keep it up! As for movement, it would be nicer to be able to move in any direction (instead of moving forward and rotating).

The art style is simply amazing :) Love it :)

I really like the use of the theme here, a floppy disk is an interesting piece of Ancient Technology! The way the slow decline of the meter can't be stopped brings a real feeling of obsolescence, which I feel fits really nicely with the theme.

I did have lonesurvivor's problem at first, too, but I kinda liked the low information version that gave me, though it took a while to figure out what was going on.

Floppy disks and pen drawings fit the theme well. Admittedly I thought about using both myself but couldn't think of something fun to use them for. Glad someone else did!

As soon as I saw the hand-drawn style I KNEW I wanted to play this :)

As @lonesurvivor says, I had no idea there was content other than moving around. I tried three different resolutions & windowed & full screen, and could see there was text being clipped off at the bottom but couldn't get to it.

For an Agar-style game I think all the assets also need to be the same shape. Lots of potential!

Has a lot of charm, good ol' floppy, has a unique feeling of chaos, which is good, and i love the squiggle vision! Good job overall.

purplepanda 2016-08-31 22:48

I like the art, but the bottom of the screen was cut off for me. And the other tech kept spawning on top of me :(

tartlegames 2016-08-31 22:49

I love the art. I can't figure out the win condition. I keep flying up because of the arrow on the bottom.

csanyk 2016-08-31 23:06

I couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do... I keep running over the little raisin looking things but it's not clear what that achieves. Am I supposed to collect a certain amount? Am I supposed to go up? Why are the dark disks and keyboard trying to run into me? Are they hurting me? I can't tell. Sound effects and some visuals would to convey what's going on and what the goal is would be helpful.

I never realized there were floppy disks in the 70s. I learnt something with your game!

Also, I really dig the art style, have hand-drawn images do make everything more crafty and precious.

I sure with there was a faster turn speed.

questionablequality 2016-09-02 13:29

As you witnessed on stream I got really confused as to what was even going on. But the style of the game was super chaotic and I kinda liked it! The sketchy style looked really good too (wow scott i complimented your art ;D )

We played your game on stream too, which you can view in here: https://www.twitch.tv/cantgetourname/v/87128748

Interesting game, though I wasnt quite sure what I was doing! :) I included it in my compilation video series of Ludum Dare 36 games specifically highlighting the Plymouth Game Dev community, if you’d like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/D52bOrYl0Fg
