The first time I threw oil into a torch I lit myself on fire. After running around for a minute I realized I wasn't going to die and it went out. Then I ran out of oil and thought I was screwed when I came across the first enemy, but I didn't find one. I think the level is procedurally generated too because I never reached the end.
If you were going to continue this I would recommend tightening up the controls and maybe increasing the light radius while making the shadows darker.
cool lighting effects, the procedural cave stuff shows some promise, good luck moving forward with it!
Amazing for an incomplete game! The graphical effects and physics are excellent; from the limited and moody lighting to the flaming oil. The generation looked good too - suspect it wasn't just random. Really funny the effects when you set yourself on fire. Lots of potential - worth finishing post-ludum.

Interesting one :)
Good concept. So sad what you could not finish the game. This could be wonderful entry on this LD.

Very nice graphics, I wish you wrote some tutorial on the lighting system, how you managed to do it so beautiful :)

A really nice idea. Although I didn't come across any enemies either (which was a bit of a bummer). I would suggest working on level design, or simply making one small level yourself with hand-placed elements there, so it wouldn't be just a matter of luck to stumble upon them.
has a lot of potential!

Nice start. Shame you didn't get further but it's very promising. Some nice effects and I like the mechanically idea and would love to see the full game if you get round to it :)

Thanks for the lovely comments! :D :) Complex levels, enemies, and a boss battle will all be in the post-compo version. :)
It's really a great (I think) start with cool effects. Hope this can be improved to be a cool game. It would also be nice if you can provide the source code (since the rules require it) and enable resizing the window (it can't be resized, at least under Linux (Ubuntu, GNOME) it can't).
And the amazingly small size of the JAR really surprised me at first... This will possibly attract more people to give it a try.
It was a great start. I felt sheer delight at seeing my projectile ignite for the first time! You were so close to getting something finishable :(

This looks like it could be fun, especially if there are large rooms (and more tiles onscreen) to make some complex shots. I'd recommend scaling up the window by default since it starts off really tiny. Nice particle effects and the platforming seems solid.

Thanks for the suggestions. :) I'm about to double the starting screen size and have it fit more tiles.
Shows some promise as an engine with the attack changing depending on what environmental feature it passes through.
The pixel art is really cool, I like the effects. Keep it up!

I wish this was finished: cool art, seemingly tight controls, pretty light system, good premise for the mechanic... too bad :(

very cool looking, i could see this working as some sort of metroidvania game where you unlock the ability to create fire at some point
For what it is, its very pretty :) The lighting creates a very nice atmosphere. I liked the throwing oil through the firs it was pretty cool. Nice entry, just unfortunate you werent able to finish everything
