Java is giving me security warnings that I'm not comfortable with... :(
This security warning is certified and signed by JoGL, so this is safe. To do 3D for Java, I have no choice to use JoGL. When you play at RuneScapes, it does the same thing. It is a lot more dangerous to play at windows exe games.
I have added a WebGL version in JavaScript
Good idea with arrows returning back down as it reduces tendences to just spam shot.
I like that I can take out 2 guards with properly thrown axes.
I would have liked if my arrows were different color, kept confusing my stuff going up with theirs coming down. Liked the death explosion.
Interesting game. Curious how you made/had time for both WebGL and Java?
Cool use of pseudo-3d... better than just straight on regular shooters.
WebGL version got very jerky.
A nice idea, perhaps a little over zealous on the blood ;-)
To answer at ratboy2713 question : The WebGL version is done with gwtGL. So both version are in Java. I have done the same engine for JoGL (JManiaMaker) and gwtGL (JWebManiaMaker). For more informations, download the source code.
I liked it. Limited ammo? It might be cool to make the returning arrows from the top pickups to restore ammo instead of killing the player. Then it's a choice between going after more ammo to continue or staying safe.
Fascinating! I *really* like that your axes come back down and can actually kill you. That being said, perhaps in a future version, you'd just lose health, rather than straight up dying each time you're hit? Great fun; thanks!
The camera motion is a bit disorienting, and the explosions when you hit an enemy really make it hard to keep track of everything else on the screen.
On the other hand, it's a really neat idea to make your own shots deadly to yourself by way of the falling mechanic. It leads to a more strategic way of thinking rather than simply firing mindlessly.
Really awesome graphics! And a really fun game too! I feel like it would have been more fair for only arrows that miss to come back down at you (while hitting an enemy would simply make it disappear), but I liked this mechanic, very cool!
