this game sucks donkey dick!

mattchu 2012-04-23 05:05

Not really clear what was going on at first. Running into the pink square moved me to...somewhere.

Getting hit at all resulted in instant loss of all 3 lives.

Froze at random intervals.

menderslan 2012-04-23 05:12

The game would freeze up for short periods of time without warning, getting hit once would occasionally remove all 3 lives.

Controls are a bit choppy, I couldn't find any way to restart except to close and re-run, and the black blobs would eventually just ignore my "sword" and kill me. Based on your journal, I'd be interested to see what you were planning. Perhaps a post-mortem post is in order?

r3ason 2012-04-27 06:14

Hmm, not exactly sure what to do here, but no doubt you have something in mind! As stated, a post-mortem would be great! Would love to hear the thought process behind the game. Thanks for putting the effort in, and congrats on finishing LD!

I couldn't play as the framerate for it appeared to be in the single digits. This hasn't happened for any other java game so I don't think it is my computer that is the problem.

aquasheep 2012-04-28 05:10

I also had framerate problems with the web version, but from what I could play, it seemed pretty well done. Good concept to develop further!

serilyn 2012-04-28 05:28

Framerate was <1 in the web version, but non-web version was fine, possibly too fast.

drabiter 2012-04-28 05:59

I see what's go on. You were going to create tower defense with player as defender right? Framerate is fine here, just need to do lot job on game mechanicsm.

psysal 2012-04-29 06:46

I like the concept, which seems to be a tower defence game but where you also control a character. The basic mechanics are in place but it's too easy to just sit still and press a key to stab in the appropriate direction when an enemy comes by. Keep making games!

This needs quite a bit of work to be playable, but good start for just 48 hours of work.

angrygeometry 2012-05-02 23:03

web version doesn't work in opera for me, so i downloaded it. wasn't sure what to do at first, but got there in the end. definitely unfinished, would like to see a post-compo version or even a post-mortem!

datamosh 2012-05-06 14:29

Needs more work, it's a shame, since it looks like a good concept. Keep up improving! :)

It's interesting but it's clearly a work in progress. Keep exploring the idea, looking nice so far. The web version certainly has a serious framerate problem, but the windows version (despite the bugs) worked OK. Congratulations.
